vr games?
>>379382419
can't wait to rock and stone in vr
>>379382674
any day now it will release
NeosVR > Vrchat

is pimax still a meme
I like how natural it feels to keep your rifle away from colliding against things in VR vidya, you just do it without thinking
https://streamable.com/ybehs2
Radius is comfy
Any VR game lobbies today?
>>379382357 (OP)
Thank god, we're back.
>>379383429
It just scratches the surface of the Stalker itch. Hopefully Ab Aeterno turns out good but I doubt it.
>>379383429
Is that with the new 2.2 textures? Looks different to how I remember it.
>>379385351
nah it's november footage
>>379383170
VR is a meme.
>>379393230
You can tell by the dead general that is only alive because of vrc posting
>>379396359
Sad
>thread died
NO
STAY ALIVE
I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO THAT SCHIZO HOLE
>>379412662
Then post content.
>>379412662
Let's face it, there's nothing to talk about. Nothing new has been coming out and it's just the same posts you'd see in /vrg/ before the split. I hate the schizofaggots too but there's not enough good VR games for a full split yet.
>>379414370
What about warplanes?
>>379414406
Not a big fan of seated VR. For me it would have to be ARMA in VR to be enjoyable for me.
>>379385281
i didn't play much stalker, what exactly is into the radius missing compared to it? It feels very similar to me (apart from ITR being vr)
>>378771806 (Cross-thread)
>It probably can't be scaled up.
There's one place it can scale, if you do it top down- mmorpgs. If all the players are lead by the same hero king lord british whoever the fuck, that's a role where it could be both practical and affordable to make playing the character someone's job. You're not gonna pay an actor to be a quest giver who stands around and hands out the same boar killing quest to every player over and over, but royal proclamations and the other "stage" and story events sure it can work live down to a certain level.
I think that might even help make a game feel less like a ride everyone is taking a turn on and more like a shared world. And look how people love both vtubers and the main characters in normal mmos, of course a game could exploit both
>>379414370
I tried discussing Into the Radius in the other thread and got ignored completely until I was accused of being the dev shilling. It was a completely different story in this thread and other people bought it. There have been new names joining Pavlov, too, which hadn't happened in years. It is practically impossible to post about other games in the VRchat thread largely because anyone who wants to discuss them doesn't go to that thread in the first place. I tried for 4 years so if /vrgg/ does die for good, I'm not going back to /vrg/. There's no point.
I loved the feel of flying your Junkship in Hover Junkers and exploring the world during a match. Since that game is dead, can anyone recommend me a similar experience game?
>>379415901
At least we still have things to talk about. Look at shit like the Undertale general, how much can you post for one fucking complete game (and I love under/delta as well) but that fucking general and its content... every day... how in the fuck
>>379415382
It's missing quite a lot, not quite sure if they added things since I last played (1.0) but I doubt it.
>no music except for story parts
>only one hub
>no npcs, no factions, no npc interaction, no roaming npcs or mutants etc.
>no different weather types
>color
>only one map(I think 2.0 broke the original big map into different maps but I'm not sure)
I wouldn't say ITR is bad, it just isn't Stalker enough for me. What would really help in my opinion is to make things stand out a little bit more, some more color in some areas etc. It was a big turn-off seeing everything beeing gray and brown. I get that it's supposed to be bleak and depressing looking but it just feels like the dev turned saturation to 0 and called it a day.
>>379416507
ITR is Roadside Picnic, not a Stalker
>>379416780
I suppose, I just went into ITR looking for Stalker since that's what everyone told me it was like. I'll give it a replay once it has recieved a couple more updates and maybe it will change my mind.
>>379416507
They have worked on some of those things, but fundamentally it isn't meant to be Stalker.
Anyone played Return to Kurgansk? It looks like a cheap ITR clone but the few reviews on Sidequest say it's surprisingly okay
>>379417259
Looks like a shitty early access game, I wouldn't bother to be honest
dead thread, vr is nothing but a fad
>>379422659
6 years with new headsets planned is kinda long for a fad.
>>379423517
We need games not headsets.
>>379424625
Without headsets becoming much more convenient to use, normalfags aren't going to buy what ever games there are.
>>379425082
quest 2 sold more than xbox did cope
>>379424625
we have vr wow, counter-strike, guitar hero. what popular flatscreen games need VR adaptions?
>>379425234
moba
>>379425082
The quest 2 did fine. VR is not quite mainstream but the normalfags are already jumping onboard decently, even if there is room for improvement.
I know the industry is going to small form factors because that's what all the normalfags want, but I couldn't give a shit. Sure I want them thin and light eventually, but not at the cost of having utter shit tier FoV and being dim as hell.
>>379425231
Now how many times smaller was the video games market in 2001?
>>379425617
not relevant
>>379425234
Literally every game benefits from VR.
>>379425717
Quest 2 sold half as many units as the Xbox, so you're not even correct.
>>379416507
Same boat here, I wish they'd quit playing games and just make Stalker, or at least enable it via mod support down the line
Base game is fun but it misses all the lighthearted soulful shit that made Stalker REALLY fun
>>379425965
I thought you were talking about the Xbox from 2001.
So I just got the reverb g2, what game should I get?
>>379429440
Half life: Alyx and Walking Dead : Saints and sinners are my two favorite VR games so try them

Superhot is great for small spaces as you're supposed to stay in one place anyway.
>>379431734

I'll probably hop on After The Fall later and see how horde mode is.
Hello /vrgg/, first time poster here. Was recommended to come here after posting in /vrg/.
I am getting a Quest 2 today in the mail for both standalone and PCVR via Link cable, so very excited. I have read the FAQ, but just want to make sure, are there any essential apps/settings that I should get/configure? I assume Sidequest is a must, but anything else? Thanks guys.
>>379440810
Don't know if it's available on the quest or how to get it but if you can get something called playspace mover you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. It allows you to move yourself by grabbing the universe and pulling it. Very useful for bringing yourself down a little bit into the ground to grab things that are below your irl floor (like down a slope or whatever in game) or adjust your position when you're sitting in a virtual chair.
>>379442908
they can install openvr advanced settings if using pcvr
Does Quake 1 VR multiplayer work? If yes, has anyone tried it?
>>379440810

>>379383387
how is the latest update?
>>379412662
NOWA!
>>379436736
Jesus Christ, that is one long game that isn't worth the rewards.
>>379440810
Just make sure you open up the experimental settings and have a look, there's useful stuff in there like double tap for pass through camera.
Also if you find the image becomes blurry there is a good chance it's sliding or sagging on your face due to the shitty default cloth strap, if you can hold it still with your hands and get a more clear picture then you will want to get a third party strap, don't buy the official quest elite strap, it's nice but it will shatter into a million pieces.
This looks interesting, I think autism has finally reached VR

>>379333907 (Cross-thread)
Quake VR's multi-player does work with proper client server netcode and bots. It's pretty fun actually, but it does feel slow as it is hard to strafe jump in VR.
>>379429440
Skyrim VR and lots of mods.
>>379497805
You can play any VR game laying down via OVR Advanced Settings' playspace rotator.

>>379499715
>>379452909
could... could we get a server going?
Anyone interested in doing a Quake 1 deathmatch game?
I've joined the BallisticNG group some days for online racing, yet I seem to be the only one using VR. Has anyone else played BallisticNG in VR yet?
>>379518115
Honestly, I don't know.
I mean, you know how in arma you have the realistic and the easy mode flight model. If they had a realistic model that is like vtol, and then an easy mode where you just use your thumbsticks like playing a battlefield game on console, you could really get away with pretty much anything a console controller could do, but with the ability to lean out your driver side window and call some guy a faggot
>>379518115
I think it would translate pretty easily. Most of the gun stuff and inventory will be like Pavlov or H3VR, vehicles just work like typical VR vehicles work in a seated VR kind of way. Would probably be janky as fuck but I think it can be done in a good way given enough time and effort.
I was thinking about getting VORPX, I had a few questions for people who have it before I get it:
1) What's the % of games are to get running? There's a lot of late 90s/early 00s games I want to play in VR, would most them even be playable with vorpx or is it certain engines or modified games that make it easier?
2) How difficult is it to setup? There are guides for certain games, but if I played an experience with no guide would I be able to figure out how to make it work?
3) Generally, is is worth it overall? I just want some more VR ports, and this is the best I can hope for

>>379533197
some of the goods I hoped to play are on this list, but I was looking into older games (tomb raider, unreal tournament etc). What limits the technology, do older games just not work?
New Phasmo VR update, guess that's enough of a reason to try it out again.

The server software for Quake 1 VR is Windows only which is gay when I host everything on my Linux server. If you want to host a server I'd be down to play. Quake works great even with only two dudes or co-op after all.
>>379535805
I have 300 hours in the game, this update ruined everything for VR players. When I first tried it the other day, I couldn't use my overlay nor could I playspace move or use any other advanced settings features. Furthermore, the hand angles for when you pick up certain objects is fucked up (again) and opening doors is very nuanced and annoying. Oh and your radio / book has been forcibly moved to your hips, which can get in the way if you'd like to grab normal items from your belt.
They really should've made this update an optional open beta instead of forcing it upon us, because now I don't even want to touch the game in VR anymore due to how shitty it feels.
>>379543181
fuck that's literally the opposite of what they should've done, especially the radio/book change. No one was complaining about that so I have no idea what they were thinking.
Don't really use OVR, but that still sounds annoying. Hopefully they'll revert these changes once enough people complain.
>>379543949
I agree, the old placement of the book/radio was intuitive and non-intrusive, but now its a 50/50 as to whether I'll grab those or my belt items. The devs are in slight damage control mode atm and not allowing proper VR feedback until next week, which makes me believe that they're probably working on fixing this mess for the time being (or at least that's what I'd like to think.)
I didn't even mention any of the non-VR issues the update brought, like how many hiding spots got arbitrarily nuked due to being "too strong" and now hiding on smaller maps is way less consistent, but at least that forces players to look around for a proper hiding spot now whilst looking for the ghost room, which isn't the worst thing I guess.
>>379540447
I've not hosted in many years, i dont need to port forward or anything do I? Also my internet is weak, it might not be the best idea if I host
>>379477654
oh yeah I remember playing a demo of this during one of steam's game fests. Was pretty neat
>>379545214
You need to port forward to host it. I'd recommend reading the full instructions on the Quake VR github.
>>379543181
I set my openXR runtime to be SteamVR and overlays work for me.
>>379551039
Ah I see, good to know that there's at least a fix for that. Either way, the rest of the issues have turned me off from wanting to play for the time being.
>>379520995
i would be up for it
>>379551495
It's only an issue for Oculus and WMR headsets as they default to their own OpenXR runtimes. Technically performance is worse using the SteamVR runtime vs. native, but it's a small cost for using OVRAS and XSOverlay for me.
>>379556278

>>379634436
The deckard is a PC vr with standalone hardware to make WIRELESS PC VR doable
No plans for any stupid proprietary clsoed off eco system
The plane is to hook up your deck to your deckard and to your PC for high quality PC VR via all three devices working in tandem
>>379634974
You seem knowledgeable, do you know what would be the advantage of such a system vs say, just a wireless vive headset? I get that it will be "standalone" but what are you going to do, use VR on a 13 hour flight?
>>379635201
The reason the quest 2 is such a good wireless PC VR HMD is the on board hardware, and one of the devs who plays VRChat (valve dev) realised the power of wireless VR via just discoursing with other devs and normal players. So their internal plan is actually pretty fucking kino.
There's a lot of weird schematics on the net and stuff and leaks from the OS, the ultimate goal is to have a headband processor on the VR itself to be upgradeable. You could also upgrade your steam Deck for more FPS. Or your PC.
it's mean to be more user friendly and have options.
We'll see what actually happens
What I fully expect is just a HMD with on board hardware that can is powered via a deckard + Pc combo link, I believe differed rendering is a key word here somewhere I forget.
Hence why the 2nd idea in the Deckard project, the steam Deck (derivative of the name Deckard) is already out. It was simpler to produce and create, the Deckard has obviously been in development longer and is quite the project. We'll see what really happens. Life doesn't give a shit about what you did successfully produce/research or plans change sometimes. Who knows?
>>379588721
That's not their plan, it's just a demonstration of it. Zuck's ideal metaverse is the internet + video games but all owned by corporations. Like that one movie or book, you know the one.
>>379635581

>The plane is to hook up your deck to your deckard and to your PC
That's too much hardware
>>379636654
No it fucking isn't and it's entirely optional the only "extra hardware" for your user experience would be a deck in your pocket or whatever which is entirely optional in the first place you dumb fucking retard SIT DOWN LET THE ACTUAL GODS OF VR DEVELOP GOOD TECH DO NOT RUIN VR WITH YOUR MIS CONCEPTIONS DUMB CONSUMER RRRRREEEEEEEEE
>>379636819
If your insane word salad means that I can use a pc or Deck OPTIONALLY and the hardware already runs games THEN it is a good idea, if not, then Gaben has lost his mind.
>>379637019
No you fucking retard
You can use The pc or the deck or the pc AND the deck.
You seriously need to stop replying to me before I roast your tiny fucking brain
You can basically have a PC(Possibly a laptop too to hook up to the mesh network), and a Deckard. Then, you can buy a steam deck and use it to upgrade your performance. You probably already OWN a steam deck by the time the deckards released.
They're trying to push the VR envelop of PC vr as far as possible and all you can do is be a short sighted little fucking nigger and go
"WORD SALAD"
Jump off a fucking bridge you get no more leaked info from me from now on bitch I hate when people don't listen to the truth and act like little know it all pricks and don't listen.

AND NO THE HARDWARE ON THE DECKARD ITSELF CANNOT RUN GAMES BY ITSELF

For once valve knows what theyre fucking doing and you're pissing me off via trying to act like it's a bad thing to have internal hardware to make PC VR more seamless, especially wireless.

>>379641145
No, it fucking is NOT. Not only is standalone a fucking meme facebook is doing, the goal is a perfect PC VR experience. It would drive up form factor, heating and the cost to have standalone steam experience.

>>379641249
>standalone
Retard
1. The Base unit or Deckard, It runs games standalone from STEAMVR.
2. The Deck and PC, which increase the power of your Deckard with their hardware, modular desing. And you can run the game for whatever of the three you have it installed on, they just use their combined hardware.

I finished RE4VR not to long ago and am itching to play more FPS VR games but I can't seem to find single player ones. Most of them are MP and that's fine and all but I think I prefer the more solo VR experiences. Maybe if I had a stronger VR set and stronger computer with more playspace I could get into the MP VR games more. So what should I get? Or really any good shooter games for VR. I also enjoy some of the melee combat VR games but haven't tried many of them.

saints and sinners maybe
>>379647485
Melee and shooters? Try Boneworks?
>>379649404
I tried it but couldn't get into it. Probably a good game but not for me.
>>379651469
I could look into it. I've heard it's just "worse" Pavlov though, is that true? I've also heard RE4VR is better than it.
>>379637767
i am using cable link, so it's not the router and it only lags sometimes, so i don't know. i will see when i try a different game, so far i only played alyx, maybe it's that
>>379647485
Play Alyx+Modded campaigns and Stormlands which are as high quality as VR FPS get.

you can play the classics in VR
quake 1, doom 1,2 and 3, half life1 (mods)
there is no stable HL2 mod (garry mod version cannot save), but there is one wip
Quake 2/3 needs Quest 2/Rift

I was hoping that someone here had experience with custom-ordered lenses. Thanks though.
>>379651816
I've been having a lot of cpu stutters too, using an 7700k.
I still get them but managed to decrease them by replacing ovr toolkit with desktop+ and closing msi afterburner, which I had set to auto open.
I still get some frame time spikes sometimes but not as bad as before.
>>379668142
i do, use them with my index through vropticians, they're amazing and been in great use for 2 years.
>>379637217
ok but how's the linux support lookin
I cannot wait for Valve's Next gen HMD to actually release and it's missing a bunch of the patent features that retard Bradly hypes up like fact. It's gonna be just like all those Nintendo switch patents which turned out to be nothing in the final product.
>>379674894
idk
>>379635581
why didn't he buy vrchat and integrate facebook login for it?
What's the name of that older cyber punk like dystopian hacker VR game? Early into it you have to print a USB stick (or something) from things arond your appartment (including carbon from burnt toast), when you plug it into your character VR jack the outside billboards change to an encoded message from 'the resistance', or something.
Was it any good?
>>379617865
WidmoVR is what I use. That or just get Zenni lenses and 3D print holders for them to save lots of cash.
>>379652668
Just tried the Gunman Contracts mod and it's not good for me. Having to reach over the shoulder to get magazines feels wrong and the Index grip doesn't work consistently to grab them. Two handing the weapon is based on proximity and randomly ungrabs a lot. There's unlimited ammo so there's no reason not to reload every few shots. The enemies are retarded and take way too long to react. The NPC I was escorting decided to run through me while I was firing and got shot.

Fuck my bad.
Does Into the Radius have an endgame, or is it just endless missions?
How big is the overall map? It looks like my home base is a grid patch of nothingness overall
>>379714956
There are story missions and random side missions.
You sometimes need to do a few side missions before you can do a story one.
Story missions usually encourage you to move into areas you might not have explored yet. They can bring a difficulty spike.
Story missions will often reward access to new items in the shop.
There are 5 maps, excluding the base.
The final story mission and map location is more linear.
Imagine simracing in VR but with hand tracking.
