Because I dreamed about this technology all my life. This one time, back when Wii was still kinda hot shit, I attached wiimote positional input to camera rotation in some car games to achieve this parallax effect of sorts, moving head left = rotating camera to the right, so it kinda felt like display was just a window into other reality. I remember thinking how cool it would be if it could have my display move with my face, and now it's exactly what I've got - while also being able to sword fight with a sword in hand, shoot with a gun in my hand, all of the coolness, all of the childhood dreams. People tend to be disappointed with VR because it's not a magical neural interface, but for me, what we have is all what I wanted, and then much more.

I can still remember using rented Rift DK2 for the first time in my life, i ran Elite Dangerous and then i was just standing in the spaceship, walking around the seat, being in complete awe. I was slowly getting my face close to ingame ship seat, and then eventually my face was clipping through it, it felt pleasantly mind-breaking back then. HL2 also had VR support back then, and even though controls were still kb+m, it felt like absolute magic to be in there, to stand in HL2 world, look around, see everything in 1:1 scale. and then i found some insanely shitty little 'game' that consisted of a room and some basic mmd sex animation on a lewd model, which was also amazing but in a different way. I'm kinda comfy when I'm thinking about it, this initial awe was beyond amazing and I can still feel those feels when thinking back.

VTOL vr is the best VR flight sim out there since it runs quite well and the controls are very well done, but it does lean slightly towards the arcadey side it does have significantly more accurate weapons/radar systems than DCS, but the flight models vtol vr uses is a lot less intensive to make it actually run well even with a shitton of planes/helis in the area

I think 7 hours. Was when I did the devouring. We stopped, plugged everything in to charge, and had lunch part way. It was really nice settling down during an adventure to eat together without leaving vr.
My stock, 4 year old OG vive is pretty uncomfortable now with the foam and elastic decaying and I don't have battery packs for the controllers or pucks so any longer than that is just not nice. Would have to stop to charge things anyway so controllers etc dying is a good reminder to go to bed or stop neglecting real life.

Anyway the secret to long vr life is external battery banks. Most people have big brick style ones they put in their pocket or something and that can give you dozens of hours which is usually enough for most people. If you have two of them then you can just swap for infinite time in VR.
I have smaller banks that I strap to my ankles/wrist/belt when required that I take on and off to charge. I can keep myself going a while.
