What are you guys playing right now?
>>386980639
I've finally picked up Boneworks again since the announcement for the new one, I dropped it in the first few levels last time since it's pretty slow to get going but I'm really enjoying it now. The full body interaction stuff can be clunky but it makes for some interesting situations.
>>386978937
ima do a random time and we'll see who comes.
Crunch element movement and firearm control is very fluid. The guns feel amazing. Too bad there's literally nothing to do, the enemies have the aim and reaction speed of my great grandma, and their randomized placements have no logic on them beyond (x amount of enemies in room). It's not very good as a door kicker game.
>>387007187
I also have this issue in semi auto when rapid firing some pulls would not register. If this is a case of an (im)properly implemented trigger reset system then it'd be my fault, but I don't really feel like keeping this game enough to experiment. If there were more AI work this game would be amazing.
never experienced vr before, but i bought a quest 2 last week since i don't care too much about the zucc knowing what i do, it's supposed to arrive on tuesday. no idea what to expect, i hope i won't have motion sickness too badly.
>>387016138
You're gonna puke.
Do not do any riding games at first.
Just the standing games
>>387019941
So Half-Life Alyx on Hard with joystick movement, you saying?
>>387020045
JUST
>>387020045
based
>>387016138
You will get motion sick, but if you take a break you'll get it less next time, until it is gone
>>387019941
>>387020891
Gotcha, I'll take it slow
>>387030540
I've only smashed my controllers against something a handful of times. Probably 5 at most but I'm very careful and always play alone in my room where I know where everything is. I couldn't imagine trying to play vr with other people moving around you all the time and expecting not to get hit. Animals too.
>>387030540
Cameraman thinks this is fine.
>>387030540
Holy shit that kid
>>387034815
>Cameraman thinks this is fine.
He learnt from the best.
How did EA fuck up Star Wars Squadrons so much? It looks amazing in VR, but the gameplay is so boring (in single player at least).
>>387037643
I think I would have played more of it if it had motion controls. Being able to interact with things in the cockpit would be more interesting that pressing buttons on a controller.
I've seen a lot of conflicting reports. What's the best way to max out Q2 with link cable? I've read that you see no visual difference past 350mpbs but you can push it to 500. Should I stick to 90hz vs 120hz? I feel like I'm getting close to an optimal experince but would still like it a bit more clear without any kind of artificial sharpening.
>>387040765
Quest 2 has a compressed signal even while wired?
Is FO4 VR really framedippy? I have a GTX 1060GB with a Ryzen 7 3700 8 core series and I'm struggling to not have reprojections. Even with the NIR/FSR OpenVR mod.
>>387042603
>GTX 1060GB
That's pretty old now and wouldn't perform well even in flat games at VR resolutions.
>>387043140
I thought it was VR ready? I remember it ran HL:A and boneworks quite decently. Not as much as TDW on medium settings though. Would an RTX 2000 series be good? I would want to go for the budget option (I assume they were released back when FO4VR was out on Steam.)
>>387032407
Only time it has happened to me is playing B&S.
Apparently I slowly shuffle forwards playing that and end up right up against a wall. I also hit the floor once while stabbing down.
WoW VR is starting to make me want to play classic Wow again
Is it worth it bros?
>>387046246
wtf is the gameplay like
>>387046246
Why all these shitty tech demoes are so fucking expensive?
>>387046334
Smarr indie dev, prease understand. Thankfully they are piss easy to pirate.
>>387042603
What does your configuration file look like? I used the VR essential modlist and it runs way better than vanilla thanks to the optimized ini and various mods helping things.
>>387046246
>early access
>worth anything
lmao
>>387043254
It's a card from 2016, so it probably was ready for early Vive games, but it's been literally 16 years since then.
>2016 was 28 years ago
>>387041814
>Quest 2 has a compressed signal even while wired?
I know that? I'm trying to figure out what's hitting the point of diminishing returns? Maybe you should try reading the fucking post again.
>>387053207
I was asking if that is the case. I thought it could actually do PCVR properly with a cable.
>>387053358
No, quest cant.
Pico Neo 3 Link can.
Upcoming new oculus/meta something supposedly will be also able to use display port over usb c.
>>386977394 (OP)
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! I just got my presciption lenses thingy and—being new to VR—I was unimpressed. I found it blurry and uncomfortable so I barely used it while waiting for the lenses to arrive. I just put them and removed my glasses spacer and it's like night and day: the headset is comfortable and it fits and the blur is gone. I can't definitlely see myself using VR a lot more. Glasses bros, I can't recommend it enough
>>387046209
What? Did the VR mod get an update that is not just a camera thing
>>387060148
Yeah. I don't understand the people who say using glasses is fine with VR. It's absolutely awful.
>>387060148
Lense inserts are definitely required for any genelet.
Watchya olanning on playing now you aren’t half blind
>>387060257
100%. If you wear glasses I implore you to get a pair of lenses. Get the nonmagnet ones so you don't have to put that extra thing in.
>>387060502
>genelet
It's because I shined a flashlight directly into my eyes for hours a child and then refused to wear glasses in my day to day
Why would you even wear glasses in the age of contacts?
>>387063012
Don't want to put shit in my eyes. Simple as.
>>387063012
taking them off to read helps me focus and contacts dry out
I do wear contacts for VR though
>>387063269
But your eyes are already defective, my dude.
>>387063339
Your dick also seem defective, why not just cut it off?
>>387063797
>Your dick also seem defective
You think? I thought it was working just fine, but I guess someone with your experience would know better.
>>387051138
actually 2016 was 6 years ago
retard
>>387066574
You forgot to carry the 1.
Let's fucking goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
>>387060148
I agree!
Next step for me is getting contacts, since I wanted some anyways.
>>387071004
I thought this was Quest only.
>>387071303
I knew it was on steam, but I forgot. Got it because of the sale.
>>387007187
>>387007884
i have this game. we should get a small lobby together. what timezone u on?
>>387073343
I'm usually available on EST evenings. If you want to do tacticool dynamic entries with me then we can host a room.
>If you want to do tacticool dynamic entries with me
You people sound kinda gay.
>>387073836
Thanks for getting the joke.
>>387073343
Doesn't the game only have two player co-op?
>>387073989
I believe it goes up to 4.
>>387032407
I used to occasionally hit something but I had one accident in particular where I was playing Boneworks and one of the VR headcrabs surprised me. It was midair and my first instinct was to swat it away with my hand. Too bad it was too close to my head and I punched my headset which tore of a chunk of my thumb as I hit right between two plates of plastic. I had to pull skin out of my headset
Healed great, though
>>387074260
Are you sure? All of the outlets say that it only goes up to two people.
>>387074260
eu and na played it and found out it only goes up to two
>>387074727
the game is Crunch Element not Battle Sisters
>>387074915
Really? I briefly checked some multiplayer lobbies and they all looked like they go up to 4 players. When starting the game there's three other slots for other players as well.
>>387075210
From the devs themselves. I would refund the game if you bought it expecting 4 player co-op.
I whack my controller pretty much every time i play even while being extremely careful, mainly because my room is like 2.5x2.5 meters, I even hit the light fixture because it's so slow. Fuck me
>>387075578
My room is the same, but I have a mat in the middle so I don't move too close to the edges. Light-kun occasionally gets whacked, but LED bulbs don't break that easily.
>>387075945
I also have my bed and desk + chair in here and the door opens inwards so floor space in nonexistant
>>387076143
I got rid of all of that years ago.
>>387075578
now you can 'draw' your whole room into vr on oculus, maybe that would help
>>387079184
I already did. It doesn't. It's suppose to warn you when you get too close but when you;re making fast movements in a small place if i'm not standing dead centre in the room my arms outstretched will hit the wall.
what are some good ways besides an AC to reduce room temp when playing vr
>>387090106
Wet towels + fan.
>>387090106
drink lots of ice water
I was planning to refund this game but I got too into playing with someone fuck
And yes, Crunch Element is 4 player coop
>>387046246
I bit the bullet and tried it years ago. Don't know how it has changed since then though it wasn't worth it back in 2021.
The game is split into two parts: gatcha grinding and shitty beatsaber.
You throw fuel gems into a processor and grab ore from the output to smelt. It's pretty random what you get. The ore you take to the furnace to smelt and cast then hammer into shape. Each part of each sword has a different success chance based on your skill level so that means grinding out failures until something works. It's not skill based crafting like township tale, you just do the action and it says success/fail. Fail and it shatters or forms chunks you can reforge.
Then when you have a sword you enter the time chamber to hit targets that move at you with no rhythm or pattern to them. Sometimes they're easy to hit, sometimes you have to flick your arm really fast to avoid one thing and hit two things on either side. The sword you have made has different durability based on the materials used to make it so you take a couple in and break them then switch to the next one and keep going. The shrapnel and pieces you've already cut can sometimes get in the way and really the whole process isn't terribly satisfying to do.
When I realised the time chamber was the main objective of the game I uninstalled and haven't touched it since. You make swords to last longer in there, and grind there to get money to buy fuel gems and stuff for your forge. You must grind xp in the time chamber to raise your level cap so you can craft new weapons or use new metals. Shit just breaks and fails if you don't have the right level regardless of how carefully you do it.
>>387092834
To be fair the last update now lets you choose what kind of ores you get. It's still time chamber centric though.
>>387093046
Yeah the problem is that they had like two games and just awkwardly mashed them together. I crafted a shitty bronze gladius and its durability was so high I never once broke it. Having a weapon that would never break meant I was now supposed to grind the time chamber until I got gud enough that it would and use the xp gained in that grinding to make a new sword to add to it. But I didn't want to do that. I wanted to make swords.

Hi frends, would anyone like to play contractors zombies in 3.5 hours from now?
>>387105564
have they added any other maps to the mode yet? I kind of want to play, but I'm tired of that one chinese city map.
Played Battle Sister and Tempestfall for a bit!
Battle Sister was fun. It has a couple of scuffed parts and I think I encountered a bug, where I am supposed to shut down something using a console, but the event that leads up to this repeats on an endless loop, which caused me to stop playing after roughly 1,5 hours.
The time I played, I had fun though. Could of course be better, but I take any VR game that lets me shoot Bolters.
Tempestfall, I don't know what to think of yet.
It looks BY FAR better than Battle Sisters, but the controls are kind of strange. I need to get the hang of it first. Played it for half an hour, but it wasn't as fun yet so I stopped.
I guess melee and magic systems don't apeal to me that much in VR. I like shooty bang bang games much more.
>>387112002
No unfortunately they still only have that one map. 2 be honest I think I will only try 2 host it one or two more times b4 moving on 2 something else.
>>387112027
The melee in Tempestfall sucks honestly. I get your weapons phasing through the ghosts, but even the skeletons just get waggled through with no collision. The parrying is bad too as you waggle in the general direction of an enemy to parry, that and the enemy variety is just bad overall. I'm glad I pirated it. That said I like how you can physically grab skeletons and rip their heads off, that's a nice touch. If you want a game which will make you like melee try Blade & Sorcery or Until You Fall. Modded Skyrim even has proper roomscale dodging, physics based melee, and timed blocking now.

>>387198382
You'll be outgunned but the only person that might be bothered is you; we're experienced but we don't really care too much about winning. The skill level I recommend to start with is being good against bots; the pavlov bots are actually pretty terrible, and most of the learning curve is being good at physically pointing a weapon at someone.
>>387198382
Just don't take it too seriously.

>>387198382
It helps that you have unlimited ammo. I wish that the game would have limited ammo, jumping, and at least four different skins to choose from per side like Counter Strike, but it's somehow the best option for multiplayer shooting with actual gun mechanics right now.
>>387222882
We used to have limited ammo. The ammo boxes were kind of a problem because they were difficult to pick up from corpses without grabbing everything else on the map instead.
>>387223091
Dave clearly can't into force-grabbing like every single other VRFPS these days.
>>387198382
It's pretty tough as the regulars have hundreds of hours in the game. You've got to have a positive attitude to understand that you're still contributing to the team even when you're stuggling for kills yourself. When I first started that meant celebrating even when I simply dealt damage to the top players on the enemy team so my own team would have an easier time killing them. Ambush kills and powerful defensive positions were useful too.
Beyond that just covering exposed angles for your teammates and staying alive as long as possible is good. We all feel better about taking on a 2v2 with you on our side than a 1v2 without.
What VR games have the best preg content? I know that you can get some with VAM but that game looks like a pain in the ass to set up without some sort of AIO.

Ordering a Quest 2 tomorrow, how do I de-Zucc it and what games should I buy/pirate for it? Already really interested in b&s and maybe h3vr, Pavlov looks great too but the playercount makes me think it's not gonna be easy to find a lobby and Into The Radius seems like it's for people who already have experience in vr
>>387227497
Use Oculess. Get SkyrimVR, Alyx, and pirate a copy of Superhot VR. Pavlov is actually well populated, especially the Shack version on Quest.
Propagation VR is really fun
>>387197992
nice last second save!
>>387228348
Alyx is definitely on the list of stuff the check out, Skyrim too with the mod potential. Can Oculess be undone or does it just completely remove everything non pcvr from the thing? If it does I don't mind, but the option would be cool
Quest 2 is for ____
>>387227497
Up to you what's worth pirating, most of it if you're a try before buy guy.
Pavlov on both platforms is well alive, moreso on weekends for PC.
Check out Vox Machinae for the campaign. /vrg/g/ sometimes plays the multiplayer.
Thrill of the Fight and Dragon Fist Kung Fu if you want a workout fighting games.
Until You Fall is at least worth a pirate imo. It can also get pretty sweaty.
Green Hell VR is decent on Quest, there's a PC version coming out soon with unknown quality.
If you like novel movement mechanics check out Gorilla Tag. It's free so infested with children but mastering the movement mechanics is satisfying enough that it's worth a try.
Unironically the minigolf maps in VRChat are great if you like minigolf.
Not sure what else I could suggest that you won't find on top sellers anyway. A lot aren't worth the price without a sale.

You're looking in an expensive niche medium for a niche genre of games that have a specific fetish so niche it's only found in a few old autism text games made by third worlders?
Have you taken a look at Skyrim VR?
can we expect anything from this?probably not, right?
Would anyone like 2 play Contractors Zombies one more time in about 3 hours from now?
I think this is the last time I'll host since the map is getting kinda stale... Next time we can do Pavlov Zombie Escape maps instead! There's a bunch that I think look fun.
>>387229078
You can just sideload oculus programs even with Oculess. But it can be undone via factory reset.

>>387236806
Host After the Fall's horde mode sometime. Now that is zombie survival kino.
>>387239628
Yeah I thought it looks fun too but the game is kinda expensive 4 a VR game and idk if too many people have it.

What's the latest information on whether you needed to bind your Oculus account to a Facebook account? I remember them saying they were going to unify accounts, and that that happened, but I also vaguely remember a rumor that they were backing out of it and allowing you to use accounts that weren't bound to Facebook.
I have a Rift CV1 that I haven't used in a long time, and I'm wondering if I can use it or access the games on my Oculus account without having to give them my Facebook account.

Set up global push to talk so you have complete control over your mic. Say small things in pub games; 'damn', 'nice shot', 'we got this' etc. to break your mute habit. Most people won't suddenly start conversations with you in pub games so it's mostly safe and in large servers you can dip out without people noticing.I found it easier to talk to quest kids because I don't see them as an equal.
VTOL today at 1800 UTC!

If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html and a mod installer (just drag and drop zip files from mega).

What would you guys think of a VR point n click adventure game?
Is this interesting? Or is it like "Shut up with your retro shit, the time is now, old man"?
>>387359479
Would that basically be MystVR?
>>387359479
>"VR allows us to so much more now! What kind of game do you want to make? Something that nobody has ever made before, I bet?"
>"Nah, let's just copy the limitations of old inferior media instead, that would be fun for sure."
>>387359479
VR is perfect for adventure genre, with all of the interactivity and immersion, but point and click implies third person perspective(?). I'd definitely play some good adventure/puzzle in VR, but it'd have to be VR: FPP, focus on physics-based interactivity, puzzle that revolves around you doing something with objects and your own hands, you know the idea.
Payday tomorrow at 18 UTC Heisters! Stay Frosty!
>>387359479
The Secret of Retropolis is basically that, I own it but haven't gotten around to playing it. From earlier this year, Wanderer is also strongly reminiscent of a late '90s/early 2000s adventure game. FromSoft's PSVR exclusive Deracine was pretty much a glorified point-and-click adventure, no puzzles though.
>>387366806
>The Secret of Retropolis
If you ever come around to play it don't forget to write a bit about it here.
The setting seemed very nice, have it on my wishlist
>>387359479
Are you capable of creating an interesting art style and visual effects, some of which may be unique to VR? It's a niche genre within a small market but standing out can still be extremely difficult.
Like >>387366806 mentions Secret of Retropolis pulls it off but the sales are still less than games with a greater focus on interaction. It doesn't help that it's extremely short, which is why I refunded it, but the genre generally has limited appeal as it makes poor use of VR. You'd have to really think outside the box to pull it off well.
>>387359479
Any desktop game using a mouse is a point and click game.
What would a VR adventure game be? Instead of trying to port something that got left behind in the 90's... Old man?
>Play Skyrim VR after installing Roguelike Encounters
>Persistently assaulted by anthropomorphic cockroaches, were-mushrooms, goat people, and bearded women
What a game to play while high
>>387359479
Deemo Reborn is fun. The interaction being limited to point and click is largely a result of it being made with PSVR in mind, but still a worthy point and clicker.
PSA if you are using the dogshit OS that is Windows 11. You want to turn of Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling as it absolutely destroys the tracking in most headsets. Stuttery head movement, stuttering controller tracking. I turned it off and now everything is buttery smooth at 500mpbs bitrate and max manual slider in the oculus program with a 3080.
>>387359479
Latter. IDK how point n click would appeal if ported to VR.
Is there a modlist recommendation for skyrim vr?
>>387401913
I like the FUS list for Wabbajack. While it has a bunch of stuff, it is modular with the base preset only being the bare essentials. But it has another profile with lots of graphics and gameplay changes So it's good regardless if you want to make your own list from scratch or want a complete out of the box vanilla+ experience.
>>387404863

>>387131736
late but this werks hopefully
>>387359479
Bro I am PINING for legend of grimrock in vr.
What I take from this thread is, that only a few people actually know what the genre "Point n Click Adventure" is.
>>387410032
There's a glitch where the knives get blasted into space when a fragment explodes so if you're going to use them, make sure you pull the knife back out before you destroy its core. In the old version knives were a mainstay but they do a bit less damage now and don't oneshot those melee enemies. Good to always have one on you anyway. Best used for taking out the core of fragments. If you can throw them accurately enough to hit a rift, you can stealth into an area without your guns and gear and take it out so no more enemies spawn then run back out and snipe from a distance to clear out the enemies safely.
>>387410032
Knives were godly in 1.0 but in the current version they're pretty useless, and ammo is cheap enough to just use guns
>>387411995
Great. Crunch Element lobby up in 13 hours.
>>387382062
If it's dogshit why are you using it?
>>387410032
Enemies have a pretty crazy FOV by default so it's really hard to sneak up on them
As
>>387416515
says, just use guns. 2.0 was rebalanced because too many players were just stabbing things either with knives or the SKS bayonet (an S tier weapon in v1.0) so ammunition is dirt cheap and knives break like they're made of cardboard. Keep one just in case but you're probably better off having a second pistol in the backpack for emergencies.

It's a really fun flat game, but avoid the VR version for now. The UI is completely missing so you can't even see the health for friends and enemies. Things like throwing and mining are attached to your head, so mine minerals you hold down a button and an arm playing the preset animation will come out of your head and start moving. It's very rough all around, but shows promise. You've got other co-op shooters that work better in VR right now like Payday 2, Serious Sam Fusion, and After the Fall anyways.
>>387527682
How often does the game get updated? It sounds genuinely unique when it comes to co-op shooters. I can't think of many VRFPs with destructible environments like that period. If only Teardown ran in VR.

>Most VR games don't let you turn on DOF on the fly or have a photomode for cool screenshots at all while photomode is almost universal in flat games now
Very tragic. Thank god all of the filters and console commands and enb options from flat Skyrim carry over to VR.
I didn't know M9s are even cheaper than the custom config on public servers.
https://streamable.com/0rb98l
>>387611996
If SteamVR wasn't complete garbage it would probably have a screenshot camera with such functions built in.
>>387611996
It's not "almost universal", it's most common in open world games that want you to advertise their AAA graphics for them, and I can't think of any VR games that fit the bill.
>>387621049
Surely there's a program that has that
>>387622275
For freezing the game and applying effects like proper DOF you would need something engine side for that. Injectors like reshade don't work on all games. There is SuperScreenShotter VR which I use for racing games (Lets me map the screenshot button to my wheel's share key), but it is way behind what something like let's say VRChat's camera or what SkyrimVR ENB offers.
>>387622769
Nah, you can do it like smartphones do, with two cameras and an algorithm. Or maybe the OpenXR api has something for 3d data. Either way, it's totally doable.
>>387624847
Maybe, but no program like that exists for SteamVR. Super Screenshotter VR adds higher quality .png captures and a viewfinder, and that's it, and there aren't any other programs that change SteamVR's screenshot output.
Tried out Green Hell PCVR and the VR mechanics seem great but the performance is just not good enough, even with everything turned down it still had stutters and warping. Refunded it for now and hopefully the developers can actually fix it.
>>387635795
I had the same experience. The steam forums have people claiming it still has issues on a 3090. It makes you wonder what exactly the devs are testing the game on. Maybe if the 4090 is in stock later this year I'll give it a go. The VR mechanics as you said are great. The physics based crafting, wound treatment, backpack usage etc are as good as it gets in VR.

Wrong. Only 20 percent of steam people still have pascal gpu's. 40% are Turing+. And ampere for example (RTX 3000 series) are already 15%+. And that's pancake people included, the VR rigs should have better specs on average.
So that's a low end system whatever you want to say. And "core i7 + 16 GB of RAM" and retarded assumptions like "everything should run just like insanely optimized by talented devs prebaked-by-hand alyx" shows that he is not really good with computers, just like you actually.
>Engine has nothing to do with it, it's just a lazy port in terms of optimization.
Also wrong. Only incompetent developers choose unity. To salvage any decent performance out of it you need a level of expertise with which you will never pick unity in the first place.
Unity is for "I want to throw shit in it and it should work, somehow" people.

I am 50:50 on them. They can be genuinely scary as you look over your shoulder for zombies. The sense of scale is real good and there isn't much motion sickness inducing stuff. On the other hand the performance is bad, most graphical effects don't work in VR which make the games look very flat, and the VR implementation is pretty basic. You press a button to reload and the knife works like a chainsaw, ie you poke an enemy and it keeps proccing for damage until you are hit or the enemy dies. It's not like let's say Saints & Sinners where you have to properly impale zombies in the head and where you have to actually reload weapons, pull the slide, use holsters to manage your equipment etc.
Anyone try to have fun with this?
I shouldn't but I might pick a few games next sale.

I hate summer. Over 30° next week probably closer to 35 VR room. I bought a portable AC but it's huge and loud as fuck and the energy bills keep going up what the fuck.
VR games for this feel? I wanted to get a headset as I constantly see comics like this touting VR's use for ronery games. But I am not sure if there actually are any decent dating sims like Kakyusei, Love Plus, etc. or even standard waifu bait Japanese games ala most of the Vita's library.
what has been announced during not-e3 for vr?
>>387834626
I had a $300 portable AC and it was loud regardless of how you set it up, now I have a $700 one and it's crazy quietfor portable ac standards. You can't really make those things quiet, but I was surprised to learn that more money actually brings some serious value in there.

I'm sure that RE4make VR will come to PC just like Capcom ported RE7 VR, RE4 VR, Devil May Cry Special Edition etc. to PC.
>>387841125
Why would you think so? Fallout 4 VR was the last VR port they did, and they never patched it or added the expansions to it. They never kept Skyrim VR up to date with SE or AE either. Fallout 76 of course didn't have VR, and they have announced zero VR support for Starfield. It's not like the Creation/Gamebryo engine can be easily modded to add VR either like Unity can. Morrowind only got a VR port after it got a complete engine rewrite that took a decade.
Cool game though, I'll give it a year for mods to make it better and then pick it up.

What's the downside of using headsets that are outside of the mainstream (as in not oculus, index, vive)? Are there major compatibility issues or is it as simple as using a different monitor?
Debating whether it's even worth looking at nonstandard options when shopping for a new headset.
>>387851134
The major issue I've heard about Pimax is that most games won't render correctly by default because the lenses are angled, so you have to apply a fix.
>>387851134
With SteamVR most things should just werk. The only real caveat is controller support, but you can make your controller count as an Oculus controller in SteamVR which fixes things. I do that for my Reverb G2 and can play all games fine that way.
>>387852635
I've been having trouble with the g2's controller bindings in skyrim vr, no idea how to fix them except for using one of the presets.
>>387851706
Not exactly true anymore. Most games support it just fine now. A few games here and there are still an issue though.

>>387863086
At least I understand the appeal of that. What most of the servers are running is totally brainless. There's always this shitty castle map active 24/7 that is essentially the 2fort battlements with an uncrossable bridge in the middle. There's absolutely nothing to do but snipe each other and die over and over again until the end of game scoreboard pops up and the server restarts the map.
>>387863674
>There's always this shitty castle map active 24/7 that is essentially the 2fort battlements with an uncrossable bridge in the middle.
Sounds more fun than prison break desu
>>387863835
I don't even understand what the point of prison break is. The only videos I've seen of it are people getting kicked for finding a way to kill the guards, so I presume that isn't the objective and they're meant to just follow the instructions until they get their turn to be the instructor.
>>387861230
snd servers fill up instantly when you make them then don't show on the list when they're full.
>>387865185
Despite there being a 'hide full' option. The region selection doesn't work either. The latency loops around after 127 ms. Half of the buttons do nothing even after 18 months. The menu is a masterpiece in shit design.
Why does Everslaught have such terrible performance? I have a RTX 3080 and I cant get it stable even at 120h\. Any tips with this game? It's the only game I can't get working right (base VR game at least)
>>387864630
Back in CS it wasn't a formal gamemode with clear objectives and limits. The prisoners were meant to escape or kill the guards and the guards were supposed to prevent that but the only thing stopping people from ignoring the rules or abusing their role are the other players wanting to play it 'correctly'. It's like a mix between RP and an actual gamemode sprinkled with admin abuse and favoritism.
For what it's worth playing Push on the official prison map can actually be pretty fun too. It's a riot where the prisoners come swarming out with shitty weapons and the guards struggle to hold them back.

That modlist uses FNIS for bestiality animations which causes a lot of lag even when said animations aren't playing. Ruinsmagus is worth a try. I'm not hugely into weeb games and my expectations were pretty low based on previous combat footage but I kind of liked it. It's simplistic but there's some soul there and the NPCs are cute. The combat was also not bad once you're dodging projectiles and parrying them back. My main concern is that the ruin dungeons are visually bland and might end up being mostly brainless combat.

Trying some of the Next Fes VR demos. First one Down Fast VR. Complete dog shit, the physics are floaty, there's no real sense of speed and you can't see it in my desktop capture but there is an insane DOF effect about 10m out from your face that makes the whole game look like you have cataracts and you can't turn it off as far as I can tell.

>>388028410
Kayak VR, NICE WATER. Looks really good but for some reason they have made Kings Canyon really washed out, it would like a lot better with some colour saturation in the rocks, it's pretty photo real but it has a problem with jaggies in the water, you can't see them in the clips because of the compression but they are super visible in game and even turning the render resolution up to 200% didn't get rid of them, not that I could run it like that anyway. It does have a DLSS option that turns everything to mush.
It been a long time since I've Kayaked irl but it seems to handle really spot on, you can lean to shift your weight and you have a lot of control over how you move with the paddle in the water. The main annoyance is that you can't actually feel when the paddle is fully lifted out of the water so it was pretty common for me to push back on the water after a stroke and turn in the opposite direction than I wanted. This is just mostly just a skill issue since the ghosts in the race mode seem to have it down and are insanely fast.

>just pirate it

>>388034253
Paradox of Hope. I forgot to record anything in this one but there also isn't much to show since all you can access in the demo is a firing range and a work bench. This one seems promising as a VR Metro rip off. I like when VR games avoid using menus like this, the shop is physical and you apply attachments to the guns by strapping them into a vice, you can also clean them with a toothbrush so it seems like it's gonna be pretty detail oriented. They say it's gonna have a proper voiced story and a separate 'dungeon' mode with progression. Should be cool if it's ever finished but it's a solo dev so I wouldn't hold your breath.

I think developing an intuitive sense of where the gun is pointing is most important because the ironsights do not automatically align without being connected together and the barrel flies around without a third point of contact to your shoulder. You can press your hand against your chin to create more stability, but it is too restrictive to rely on all the time and some guns aren't the right shape for this to work. So I'd suggest practicing point shooting where the gun is at shoulder level, but the ironsights or optic aren't relied on unless it's long range.
Video related where I realized I don't use the ironsights that much:

Beautiful visuals in VR and great kayak physics but racing against ghosts isn't my thing and there's nothing in free mode except taking this toucan to the other side of the level. While playing I couldn't help but think it would be better with multiplayer or with an actual game built around it.
>>387904495
>>388002512
Giving it a try game def suffers from a lack of budget but I don't think from a lack of attempt.
I had some annoying frame stuttering issues so only played the first level, but ignoring that and the animations being a little derpy I hope the combat is able to evolve beyond what it is.

The grabbing was a bit off, also had problems bashing my hands into the gun and weird stuff happening when grabbing the mag but it all seems like stuff that can be pretty easily polished out.
>>388119902
Lmao so many games that either didn't work properly or had no VR version in the demo.
I agree, disappointing this time.
Requisition VR has a neat crafting mechanic but as you said everything else is very mediocre and I don't think PvP suits the rummage and craft gameplay.
Based on the VR mechanics Paradox of Hope seems like it has potential but the demo is just a shop and shooting range. AI will be the telltale of whether it can become a good game and I suspect they've not shown that yet for a reason.
Ruins Magus is worth trying just to see what a VR JRPG could look like. It's a weird mix of soulful and extremely bland. I played it for 40 minutes so it's the longest VR demo in this NextFest.
Kayak VR was graphically impressive and controlled well but I thought the race gameplay was at odds with the beautiful, serene level. Best demo of the Next Fest perhaps. Not really the kind of game I'd buy though.
Tiny Island had soul but I can't see it amounting to much more than fetch quests like in the demo.
Hyperstacks seemed good, polished and pretty. Not a fan of puzzle platformers but I liked how movement focused it was.
I liked Maestro VR. Novel concept, the execution is just lacking some refinement to the controls and pointing mechanics. It kicked my ass so much it was a struggle to complete both songs on easy difficulty.
I think I missed a couple of mediocre looking games and the rest are trash not even worth mentioning.

What do you think conductors do? They follow the music notation, keeping the orchestra in tempo and nudging to start at correct time.
>>388150094
3D spatial sound makes me rethink music listening in VR.
Having actual orchestra part audio coming from correct 3D spot makes it feel pretty audiophilic, although I'm pretty sure it's just some good VST plugin, not a real recording.

Yes, jaggies are because your render resolution is low increase it or apply antialiasing.

Quest 2 on "native" should look very good, but for that you need to increase your rendering res to 5408x2736, so most likely you wouldn't have enough gpu power to drive that res.

>>388336204
P.S : I'm planning on actually playing the game not masturbating.
>>388336204
I'd say so. It sadly has better VR interaction than most made for VR games at this point. It helps that it has lots of content between just the vanilla stuff and the fact that all of the big content mods (Enderal, Bruma, Wyrmstooth etc.) work in VR. It's effectively replaced the flat version for me as it's just more fun to play in VR.
>>388337117

>>388360829
what's the recommended mod list
>>388336204
Modded Skyrim is turning out to be my favourite VR Star Wars game
>>388365269
Also hanging out for this. I've got some anon's enderal vr list and it's pretty mediocre. One big problem is that there's collision with enemies so things like the crabs you can't get close enough to hit without clipping upwards and will yeet you into space when they swing back.
>get scav mod
>enemy spawns increased
>tide interval increased
>ditch starting gear
>never go back to vanno
>live in the radius forever
Surprisingly comfy. Tempted to go through and get up to the point where I have the castle open and then ditch vanno just so I can have another map to explore but this will do for a nice survival sandbox to relax and play in.
>>388370528
add the timescale mod at div/8 strength
iirc that will give you 1h realtime equals 3h game time, and you have eight game days between tide waves = 64h of real time to chill out and feel the comfy post apocalypse vibe
and if you want to force a tide, just bring a tin of food, go to Vanno, and Rip Van Winkle sleep your way to the tide
>>388371093
I like the speed time goes default. I've upped the tide interval so I can actually accomplish something (it's about 7 days now instead of 5 I think). With time moving as quick as it does there's always the risk of being caught in it. Way bigger issue to be caught in the tide without Vanno to fall back to. I've got my starting base in the swamp treehouse so it's reasonably far away from the edges of the map. Hiding in a safehouse during the tide doesn't stop it from moving you either so you've just got to get prepared and brace as it comes in.
>>388371731
I did a scav run with div/8 to see if I could beat the game with only what I get on one tide
forces me to use whatever ammo and guns I can find, first time I actually used the PPSh or Groza

>>388367585
Install PLANCK for proper physics collisions. Get Conduit and Enderal Spellsiphon while you are at it for fun magic and the ability to imbue your weapons with magic effects.
>>388377352
Oh, and make sure you have HIGGS for proper grabbing as well as I have no idea how old that modlist is. I played all of Enderal in VR and it was tight. The writing can be questionable at parts, but the world design is way cooler than normal Skyrim's.
I'm disappointed there's no way to save a scene in H3VR. I just discovered I can put down targets on a map and have cameras pointed to them so I can see my shots remotely. It's shitty I have to set them up every time I want to do some shootan.
don't die
>>388377352
>>388378356
what about visual mods? texture improvements, weather effects etc
don't need/want coomer mods but if that's the only way to get better looking characters so be it
I SEE YOU MOTHER FUCKER. DON'T EVEN FUCKING TRY IT.
>>388365269
I just installed UVRE, because I didn't want to deal with going through the process of compatibility patching everything all over again, like I did with Oldrim. UVRE's fine, but there's a few pointless mods, mostly the dozen or so realistic/historical loot lists. Yeah, vanilla Skyrim lacked weapon variety, but the solution is not to inject a dozen identical English broadswords with slightly different pommels.
>>388388452
There are a lot of visual mods you would want to make the game pretty. Try Glamyre Reshade and if you have the extra headpsace, Sensorium ENB. Using both in tandem lets you use the super efficient sharpening and ambient occlusion in Glamyre alongside the nicer ENB effects for everything else. Follow https://files.catbox.moe/e1t5a5.odt to set up some bitching parallax textures and meshes. Past that read /tesg/'s SSE guide as nothing else is VR specific. Personally I'm a fan of FusaFusa Project or Fluffy Animals as they give animals a cool fur shader which makes them very pettable.
>>388393476
I'd use FUS instead. It's a much better vanilla+ modlist and it's modular too if you just want the essential and not any gameplay or graphical changes.

That game is tight. If you turn off most of the highlights and prompts it gets super immersive as you have to rely on sight and your bloodhound to help you. There is an annoying amount of DLC which lock basic features behind a paywall, but creamapi works in that game for everything. It's 100% worth the $5 for the base game on sale. I don't think that VR is possible for that game though. It uses an engine that only it and Just Cause 4 use. It's not like Unity where you can Bepinex in VR easily.

Thanks anon!
... Yeah, I could do something like this. These little fuckers have been slowing my drives for too long now.
>>388577952
Picked up, thanks anon.

Based Linuxchad. That reminds me that I need to install that game on my Steam Deck now so I can co-op it when a friend is over.
Whenever I try to run the VR mod for Valheim it seems to grab my mouse input for the headset but the game otherwise loads like normal and does not render anything to the headset
>>388577952
There's https://store.steampowered.com/app/1549850/Virtual_Hunter/ which is a very bad early access clone of theHunter. It only has two animals and will probably never get finished.

Godspeed, anon.
Will Dave ever fix bolt actions lagging out of your hands?
>>388603629
weak hands
>>388607324
It's a latency issue where the server suddenly decides you're not holding the gun with either hand several seconds after you work the bolt. I see it happening to other players on low quality WWII servers where everyone has 200 ping and the gun despawns instantly if you drop it.
>>388579236
Fuck you! I got all excited thinking they add VR
How much fun would you have in a gas station vr game? Standing in your cubicle alone waiting for clients to arrive. Filling and facing the inventory.
>>388617565
Even with some interesting twists I think the appeal would only last roughly as long as the job simulator games do.
>>388617565
Could work as a 'papers please' style game.
>>388618465
Do you see it as free or around 5 dollars
>>388618465
Make it a management sim
>>388620413
Both and what if there is a radio and weather conditions outside
>>388618601
If it's another shitty VR work simulator I wouldn't buy it. The VR market is somehow bloated with this trash and too often it's little more than an asset flip. We already have a shopkeeper sim, that's like half of a gas station attendants job right there, we even have a fantasy themed shopkeeper sim. They both look shit and guess what, they play like shit too. We have multiple cooking games and the only way the smaller ones successfully stand out is by having high quality theming (see: Horror Bar VR), if you're solo it's going to be tough to do that.
You could lean more heavily into strategy and management like the other anon suggested but does it even need VR then and would enough VR players want to play it to justify making a VR game?
>>388617565
>gas station vr game
This doesn't really tell us anything. The only answer is that it depends heavily on what the mechanics are like as that's ultimately what defines a game. The setting, theme and art are there for context but they ultimately should serve the gameplay.
If you have specific mechanics in mind you'd do better to describe those.
If not then you need to discover a satisfying mechanic worth building a game around before even thinking about anything else.
what game should I "borrow"?
managed to beat the "easy" level of maestro vr first try, but just barely

it is quite difficult. from the bit of actual orchestra experience i have it is actually kind of realistic movement-wise, but it does suffer being fit into the rhythm game mold. mid-bar tempo changes don't really flow from the tempo balls you have, and the instrument onsets and tempo changes are very strict in their timing it seems. I'd like to see a more "free" game where the orchestra actually follows your tempo, then you're graded after the fact on how faithful or steady it is instead of on-the-fly grading.
but honestly the basics are all there, I could see this being actually fun and instructive with some tuning. as others have mentioned too the graphics are really barebones but it works fine for a demo for a music game.

Manually installing mods is easier than ever with MO2's virtual directories and tools like Mator Smash. The advantage of Wabbajack is it's a curated mod list that you basically don't need to touch at all; everything is already tested and compatibility patched to work out of the box. The disadvantages are that you pretty much need to spring for a Nexus premium account, because needing to manually download all 200+ mods is a pain in the ass, and the fact that because it's a curated mod list, you're at the mercy of the curator's whims as to whatever random unnecessary bullshit he's thrown in you may not want. And some of them are complete assholes about wanting to change their modlist.

the spatial sound is pretty good though, you can hear exactly where each instrument is, makes you feel like you're actually standing in front of orchestra. If you miss the cue, you can hear exactly where a section just went quiet

the difficulty levels just reduce the amount of visual and audio cues (the arrows above the sections, metronome, the rhytm balls), they don't change the song mapping.
>>388638319
hey, they still clapped. I wish it'd tell you why it thinks you miss the instrument cues (mispointed or early or late). I only managed to get like 25% of the cues in the tutorial too and couldn't figure out why, sure seemed to me like I was hitting the trigger on time.
For some reason Ruins Magus won't launch on my Index, it just brings up the main menu on my monitor

This reminds me of a sci-fi book where the main character discovers an ai entity living in the internet that's been hiding for years. He asks "why would you hide?" And the ai basically responds "are you fucking kidding me?"
A VR game where you are a gaint interacting with a world full of people. You begin as tall as a two story house. At the start you deal with towns people on a personal al level, a local legend and hero. Over time you get bigger. Eventaully to a God like titan. You become so large those individuals all look the same too you. Your morality makes since to you at your scale and perception of time. You redirect rivers to irrigate crops. You can't see how many small settlements you crushed in the process. All you saw was progress over decades. Why do some of these ants hate me? I am good and just. Eventaully you have to fight demigods and other gods. Your qaurels bring ruin to the human world. If you are defeated you will be broken up into smaller giants and the process begins a new in a world you altered in a past life.
Maybe there's a muktiplayer aspect with FS style invasions with other players taking the role of teams of giant slayers.
>>388617565
Sounds like John Romero needs to get on that.

>requires Nexus premium (bad site regardless, don't use if you can help it)
>has DRM in redditjack to make sure you that you ONLY have a LEGIT STEAM copy of skyrim vr, shuts the fuck down if it detects ANYTHING custom in your skyrim folder
>thus forcing you to overpay for one of the laziest, broken 5 minute port jobs of all time.
>shit modlists, typical Nexus/Reddit style community where they exclude any effort by modders that go against groupthink
Don't need it. It's a pain in the ass but do it all yourself with MO2 like you would with a normal bethesda game.
There are good reasons for not trusting this softrware, and there are good reasons for not trusting/using Nexus. If you need a good idea on load order look at some of the wabbajack lists on github and go from there if you get stuck.
>>388514392
The only meaningful reasons to use redditjack are to skip curating your modlist, to have your load order already set up and to have a dedicated discord community for tech support.
Most modlists are bloated as hell and if you're on a low spec PC you probably want to select your own graphics mods anyway so that's a downside in my opinion. Modest modded Skyrim VR should be able to run well on any VR capable system yet I still see people complain about performance because they're using these modlists.
Load order is rarely a problem if you install core/important mods first, check the descriptions for dependencies and in the worst case use LOOT. Most load order issues are reading comprehension issues.
Skyrim is old enough that you don't need a discord for help, there are enough youtube tutorials and google search results that you can easily get by without it.
>>388617565
Add a robbery minigame to make it more realistic.
I don't know if it's something that's specific to me since I have astigmatism or if I'm just plain retarded, but I always had a problem of iron sights being blurry when trying to aim in VR. Today I noticed that I don't have this problem at all if instead of lightly squinting my right eye I open it wide. It made shooting guns way more enjoyable since I don't have to deal with barely seeing what I'm looking at.

That's weak eye dominance. I have the same.

I should yeah
>>388687372

what game is this?
>>388699074
A Township Tale or Townshit Stale
>>388673775
99% of mods are Nexus only sadly. I don't see how you can get all of the mods you would want for VR otherwise. That said I definitely agree that Nexus mods is not worth supporting. Them removing all of the Sneed mods from the Fallout 4 and NV Nexus was a heartbreaking day.
