Welcome back racer!
EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club, season 5!
Race 27.

18:00 UTC, 20:00 CET, Monday 11th of July.

Vallelunga, Audi TT cup. We'll do some figure 8 racing.
1 hour practice, 15 minutes qualifiers, 18 laps race.

After that - a scenic route through japanese mountains - Myogi.

Mods:
https://mega.nz/folder/u75QTJDR#MdHxfoQLazaDqycO7gszCQ

Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html and a mod installer (just drag and drop zip files from mega).

For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.

>he doesn't know that lots of NA's go to the EU weekend instances
there's a whole world outside of your circle, anon. you can always stop being a socially awkward autist and find out for yourself.
it's always the NA's that stumble into EU instances, awkwardly stand in a corner with the 1 other NA, then leave. you make things boring for yourself and then complain that EU's are boring?
I'll take """boring""" EU's over clout chasers and trannies who literally only log in for a group photo and then leave. Looking at you, Ryder. And Nyx for that matter.
Anonymous No.391392657

anyway my point is, instead of standing in a corner with the 1 other guy you joined on, come join the rest of us, we're a mix of NA's and EU's. we don't bite and we can be just as loud and go just as hard as y'all. but if you only sit in trannycord VC's you will never know.

That is exactly what happens, and a lot of NA's do get on "early" for those instances and it's always fun times.
I'm not complaining by any means. There is certainly no shortage of people during EU hours and instance hardcaps are actually a big issue nowadays. It just boggles my mind that some people will outright refuse and deny themselves a full night of VR. They would rather only be on for half a night because they just can't stand being outside their own circle for more than two minutes.
Or maybe they're just old farts that run out of steam after 4 hours. Who knows?

I don't think there are any working drone simulators in VR just yet. You can try your hand at programming something like that in a VRChat world, or make your own project/demo entirely in Unity.
There's flightsims but no drones.

I found a world full of pirated avatars and really like the one in pic related. I would like to be able to keep it when/if that world gets killed, does anyone know what its called? I hope it comes with the suit and hat because I'll have to learn how to edit clothes onto an avatar otherwise.

Also I LOVE exploring weird worlds so if anyone feels like recommending stuff I'll gladly take a link. For reference, Japan Street is my favorite for the sheer amount of stuff there is to see and play with

If you want an avatar of your own that you like, the best and only real option is to upload one yourself. You can recreate that fairly easily with a bit of Blendering, and then you will be forever safe from it being taken down or privated.

This looks like a mashup of that one yoyogi mori catgirl model with some other suit from booth. the hat looks like it might be from the same model. it won't be available anywhere for "yourself" and it won't have a name, it's something someone else threw together from parts.
if you look at yoyogi mori's booth page you will find the same cat there with different clothes, i think it still has the hat.

Any headset should work fine for that. A Quest 2 is probably your best cheap option right now, although the Reverb G2 is on sale for $400 if you don't mind spending a bit more to get away from Facebook/Meta.
Can't say any of the drone sims I found looked all that promising though.

Don't believe you'll owe anybody anything such as favors or having to be nice to them for sharing assets to you, it is very effortless and practically everyone has access to large sources of models

I don't know of any other than this one that had a demo in the last next fest. Didn't look great and controls were supposedly broken on Index, but the demo is still up if you're curious despite that.

I have a pet theory on why white girls seem to prefer black dudes when the colour is not visible like online.

White people have been in a relatively peaceful civilization for several generations that males are usually exhibiitng the proper loser-winner behavior of lacking confidence if losing in life and having confidence while winning. Evolutionary speaking a community benefits if girls breed with winners in life.

You can trick this by having confidence withtout being a winner BUT as said the community is worse of as a whole. So in very tribal warfare locations like where africans are its ok to just all in on this deceit to benefit the propagation of individuals. But whites usually had big castle colonies spanning multiple cities.

So white women has a more built in desire to go after confidence more exclusively rather than taking time to analyze.

TDA is the person who modeled this Miku (https://mikumikudance.fandom.com/wiki/Tda). Before booth came along most anime style models were edited MMDs or gamerips and of them all TDA's Miku saw the most use. My theory is because her face is somewhat glamorous-looking compared to most MMDs at the time (2017) and her body is an aesthetically pleasing shape for a template. Maybe it's just an easy model to alter, I have never personally tried it. Anyway after a while some Event Horizon-tier edits reduced her to this Bratz doll looking shit you see today.

The twitterfag transition is a natural evolution. Anons get addicted to attention and over time find that the dopamine rush from relationship drama, vagueposting, and people wanting to fuck their avatar starts to become dull, so they move to a platform where the maximum capacity for attention is much, much higher.
Reminder that if you see anyone from here posting cutesie UwU pictures of themselves with le funny captions or memes on there, deep down they're a sad desperate individual and should be tread around with caution or avoided.

I've been playing a lot more vtol vr outside of the /vrg/ lobbies. Publics are a bit of a mixed bag, there are a lot of people whom I suspect struggle to even drive a car irl, but there's also a good number of absolutely god-tier pilots

Any tips? I've been wanting to get into it but I suck. I have a feeling memorizing the startup procedure will be really easy once I get the hang of it too, but for right now it still intimidates me. All the screens too.

I recently bought it. Do the tutorials and you'll have no problem with the startup procedure. The cockpit controls looks more complicated than they actually are, at least for the jets.
Figuring out all the different weapons systems takes longer as they operate differently and I found the tutorials a little unclear. Pay attention to the tutorial prompts because if you miss them you might need to restart. Also some stuff that an aviation noob won't know isn't explained, i.e what the voice system saying "Pitbull" means (it's when your missile no longer needs you to guide it).

Mostly because 90% of this community are mmo players looking for the mmo experience.
They were creators by necessity hence as soon as booth became a thing they all switched to buying booths and booth clothing instead of making their own.
I came to terms with it a long time ago, it is what it is.

this past week that I've picked it up again everything is stuttering and freezing like hell. constant stuttering on any games I play if they even run. tabletop sim is completely unplayable. updated drivers but that didn't help at all. what would cause sudden huge performance drops like this?

1 - normalfag who was maybe a bit shy at first but fundamentally has no social problems

4 - fails socially here too and leaves

The difference is you can't just alt f4 in real life. When you socialize with real people there are repercussions and sometimes long lasting consequences to saying the wrong thing. That was a big source of anxiety for me. In VR, being always able to just walk away takes some of the pressure off. Ultimately I rarely actually do that, but just knowing the option is there helps a lot.

it's much clearer what the meaning of a situation is in vrc, it's easier to socialize because this game is about socializing, having an avatar and people in avatars means you cannot really judge someone on their body but on their personality

You're in a social setting in front of people right now, here on an imageboard. Nothing has fundamentally changed, but plenty of practical things have changed and those are different in vr social settings too. If you do something i don't like, i can't do anything about it, I can't even make the threat. You think it's the text or whatever that makes socializing less anxious but that's because it's the only virtual communication you know.

t150 is ever so slightly better base, but g29 has an advantage of being an extremely cheap "platform". if you want to get a t300 (so you'll have properly better experience than good old g27/g29), decent thrustmaster pedals, and thrustmaster h-shifter, you're in for twice the price compared to g29 with absolutely decent stock pedals and fully usable h-shifter.

You can get it and see, in worst case you'll sell it once you'll decide it's time for an upgrade. Shame it doesn't have h-shifter bundled, but those things are dirt cheap so you'll be fine, just gonna buy it separately later. G29 is an inferior base to pretty much everything that matters on the market, but at the same time g29 is completely usable, it does ffb things, it lets you drive cars in games.

FFB is slightly worse, but the pedals are better. It's also better if you're planning on getting a shifter eventually and don't want to spend a lot more to do that.
T150 for $100 is a really good deal if you don't care about a clutch pedal and a shifter though.

I tried both the T150 pro and G920 and picked the latter though both were similar prices back then. I'm not a fan of the plastic feel of the T150 but for $100 it's a great deal. Both have extremely similar FFB in my opinion, the differences people cite are minor compared to wheels in other price brackets. The Logitech has better pedals, a cheaper shifter option (PC can technically use any brand shifter if you buy an adapter) and more aftermarket modification options. Logitech software is SHIT and the motors in the wheel are pretty loud.

Used Logitech wheels can be found cheaper than that Amazon price but in your area it might not be enough to be worth the risk and hassle. It could also be useful to look at the resell value in case you don't get much use out of it.

Not quite; the metaverse as a concept is fairly generic and has been around for a while. Zuckerberg wanted to create a facebook metaverse of digital spaces and worlds, and use VR to connect people digitally across the planet (and monitor them for ads or whatever).
Cryptobros took the metaverse concept and slapped blockchain concept on it like one-note retards and called that the metaverse. Cryptobros retailed nft digital property that made headlines but outside of idiots and other cryptobros it got zero traction. Zuckerberg's metaverse is still just his standard corporate owned digital spaces thing.

I've hung out with dozens if not hundreds of people ranging from giga autistic to moub and honestly two thirds of vrg are basically well-enough adjusted lads of varying degrees of forum culture that are just drinking casually and enjoying eachothers company. >80's doesn't define a show's quality
Not that anon you talked to, but it does. At least on average. Budget and time back then wasn't as "freely available" as it is today, where ctrl-z, last minute compositing, 3D-CGI-background-characters or digital motion of background plates is available to not only bit studios, but literally everybody who wants to get into it.
Basically you had to be abso-fucking-lutely sure that your anime will at least check enough boxed to be watchable, since the process was more expensive (time and money wise). Saying anything else is completely ignoring this.
If we compare averages, the 80s simply had the better "diamond to shit" ratio compared to recent times.

This is just wrong.
Animation was recognized as a low return investment and investors were less interested in throwing money at it than now.
Budget != product quality in animation.
The biggest difference was that Japanese had much higher birth rate back then which resulted in higher sheer number of animators.

>Animation was recognized as a low return investment and investors were less interested in throwing money at it than now.
Ironically that was my argument, even though I wrote it with the focus on man hours and availabe tools/workflow instead of what you wrote.

Because the whole process took more man hours. To get ANY budget whatsoever you had to be 100% certain that you will get money in return. Which was hard in the 80s, because of the insane amount of work (eg. because of the things that are readily available now on and mid-range PC, which I mentioned).

So yes, in the 80s it was harder to do ainme, because budget and time was more strict than nowadays. Ergo only things that were in the pre-pre-production already considered solid were even greenlit.

Common? Not really. I can only think of maybe two or three mutes around /vrg/. It's very difficult to have any kind of meaningful interaction with a mute, so they're relegated to basically being novelties. Most mutes will either drop it and stop talking once they decide they want to make friendships with people, or they'll just quit entirely once they realize that nobody will ever actually remember or think about them if they're not talking.

Performance improves because instead of running 2 compositors over 2 runtimes (App talks to SteamVR which then talks to WMR/Oculus shit) you talk to OpenXR api of WMR/Oculus directly.

Index supports OpenXR through SteamVR natively there is no additional layer.

also
>measuring application "bloat" by storage size

You do know that it contains some debugging tools, firmware tools, graphics for the room setup, steamvr tutorials, home world (which you can disable with one checkbox), localisations etc? It's not bloat it's the things you need to use sometimes. The runtime itself is small.

Sometimes they're expensive for good reasons like wear, but most of the time contractors slap a big ol' tax on them that makes them that expensive as well.

>Performance improves because instead of running 2 compositors over 2 runtimes (App talks to SteamVR which then talks to WMR/Oculus shit) you talk to OpenXR api of WMR/Oculus directly.
I know that much, faggot, I'm asking if people tested it and are 100% sure that SteamVR works optimally.
SteamVR is a buggy mess, stop pretending like it's actually runs well.

Yeah, localisations bloat, you such are such a fucking stupid idiot. Stop assuming that you are talking with people who are less competent than you. Fuck you.

how are you supposed to test if it works "optimally" if it's the only working API used by the games?

Frame timings measured by steamvr report miniscule amount of time spent on compositor and vr api, most of the cpu/gpu time is spent on the application. The only issue is that Microshit and Cuckulus just cannot take over their stupidity/pride and write OpenVR driver instead of making a wrapper to their API's.

But I would be interested to see how Monado OpenVR or OpenXR works with Libsurvive drivers, and how performance differs, my guess, not much.

Why can't these companies just make generic usb/display port/hdmi/power extenders like TPCast did?

If it has like 2 hours of battery... Probably not worth it.
If you can hook up a cheap charging cable thou, it would be gold. As a charging cable could be made way cheaper then the current Index cable, and be way sturdier then any form of data cable.

seems like the same as Vive Wireless (and no surprise, as Index takes 12V 1-2 amps) so you could just buy a bigger battery, like people do with Vive Wireless and also hotswap.

Something like OpenXR game through Monado vs OpenXR game through SteamVR.

Yes, but Monado is still extremely experimental and you need to fuck around in terminal A LOT.

But do it, I'm actually curious.

>FOV
It's pretty much the same if your eyes are close enough to the lenses. That's a reason people got the thin face pads.
>audio
The Index audio quality is great, but it blocks 0 noise which sucks if you actually have good hearing and your PC isn't designed to be silent.
>mic
Attaching some foam to the Vive's mic improves its quality substantially.

I hate how most VR headsets cheap out on this. The quality of the mic should be given the same level of care as the screen. If they seriously want VR to be used for virtual conferencing and shit, nothing breaks a meeting more than a terrible mic that picks up your breathing as loud as any other word formed by your mouth.

Foam just stops heavy breathing/poping noise, but the microphone still sounds like a phone from 1991.

Index mic on other hand is capable of studio quality voice recordings

in the middle of vrchat one of my controllers loses pairing and my 3rd puck takes over
seems maybe one of the dongles died? idk
unplugging each dongle individually from pc disconnects the puck so i dont think its a dongle problem
computer restart as well but no dice
plugging controller into pc as well turns it on and detects it but its not staying when i unplug
any solutions?

It's really not that bad after the foam mod. Just removing the pops does improve sound quality, the movement of air itself produces minor distortion. Of course the Index's mic is still better though. At least you can still use your own mic connected through the headset's USB.

It is measurably within a few degrees, and user reports also support this. Just because your eyes weren't close enough to the lenses to experience the large FOV doesn't mean it isn't possible. Just need to mod the headset. And sure that's inconvenient, but so is having to deal with a wire and RMAs.
