Todays map recommendation: Race Against Fate By Karl Kroenen
What I love about VRC maps in general is how different they are. Sometimes you get to a really cool game-world, sometimes it’s chill/hangout stuff, or a really great tech demo. Special tier in all that takes “artist vision” worlds, if you can call them that.
Race against Fate is what I would call a classic for that category: amazing views all around, and more you walk around more you notice “attention collectors”, those little places like a survivors shack, or a radioactive zone, or a Train station far ahead with a clear road made from leftovers of explosion. If you really feel like just walking around silently or calmly talking with friends exploring – this world is perfect; also, there is a lot of incredible places for “cold” style photos. I especially recommend to pay more attention to roofs, author made it just like in games – you could see where you can(or should) go if you would just look around a little.
Best be explored by Solo(great escapism vibes here) or in a group of 2-10 people.
P.S. Little detail – this was the first published map(I believe) from this creator, and only in a good year after, while he already posted at least 2 more maps, I learnt that all his maps actually make sense and have story, and not only that – some of them are connected. Not going to go into details, but at some point he was giving tours over his creations, was an interesting experience to glance into his vision. I will most definitely share more of his other maps at some point in a future.

there's a ton of those, to name a few really great once quickly: Primal ValleyBy Xeverian (quests mostly don't work as it's made on sdk 2, but astonishing surronding is still there), The Abandoned City By Sournetic (i'll make review on that in a future, just go on roof and wait for a show), and probably Victory Mine | Universal UnionBy Tommy Coolatta (a giant atmospheric mineshaft from Half-life, incredible port).
Separately i would hightlight not single maps, but actual authors, from whom i recommend to just visit all their maps:
Karl Kroenen, who's map review you just saw - very abstract, but very curious to see what he comes up with;
nobelchoco, who's map Soglio village review was few days ago, i'll add picture from it here - all of his photoscanned worlds are breathtaking and of a big scale to exlore;
And last but not least - DrMorro, this guy don't even need introduction - his worlds are so great at this point everybody at least heard about them, so stuff like Olympia, Moscow Trip, ORGANISM and of course Epilogue․ Chapter 1 is a must to visit for that type of request!

Gonna bite the tricky bait hook for a moment and say I'm sorry about the map, euro friends. Usually we do entirely custom maps for these but this year all the elbow grease on that front went into the game show and it was simply too much to work on two custom maps at once so I settled for a public one that fit a certain aesthetic with the idea that people would spread out like an actual ball which, in hindsight is pretty antithetical to how VRC dances operate. Basically you enter the lobby area and you will be randomly matched with someone else in a 1-on-1 room. You can then talk to them for 5 minutes before you're teleported back to the main area, and then 20 seconds later you all get matched with a random person again.

tundra trackers are great but the dongle is bad. it combines 3 tracker radios into one and that bring them really close together, causing signal interference which shows up in the form of ur trackers occasionally disconnecting - unless you can set it perfectly. i have the tundras and theyre great but drift unless im standing in the perfect spot - get the vive 3.0 instead.
