If image in the headset looks blurry but fine on the monitor, increase your rendering resolution!
If you start to feel sick when playing, stop and have a rest. You'll get your VR legs eventually, just don't push it.

I know that PCVR is certainly going by the way side with standalone VR wireless headsets getting better. However, PCVR quality is still phenomenal with what can be achieved currently.
Will be looking at doing a wireless connection with my PC through my Quest 2. As achieving that will certainly fill in the gaps until a higher quality wireless standalone comes about. Valve should be capable of achieving this within the next couple of years.

WTF is Dave on about. Is this just blatant sugar coating? Was he saying the same shit when the quest 2 version was being made? I'd like to think this is all true since I have a pre order in but I highly doubt it since re8, horizon, and gt7 are all using reprojection. Could first party devs really be that lazy to not fully utilize hardware they've come to know for years now? I don't think so.
>>417657827
it's the usual consoletard cope
Yeah it has "more performance for the same price" because it's extremely standardized, but you're also locking yourself out of everything else a PC can do and a console can't.
You want to play a game the Sony didn't approve of because it's some random indie shit you found, coomer games, or non-politically correct games? Get bent.
It may be true performance-wise but that's the only positive
I'm beginning to think my gpu (5600XT) is just too weak for decent Link with quest. Quality pretty bad. Not sure why my network latency was all over the place though. Computer is connected directly to router with short cable. Have several routers may have to try.
>>417662357
Have you tried virtual desktop?
For me airlink is dogshit, though it works slightly better for some people
>>417665043
I tried virtual desktop first. Will be attempting airlink tonight. Also gonna try direct cable.
>>417665843
In VD, try the network stats to see what's wrong in more detail
I have a RTX2060 on a laptop, which is roughly equivalent to your card, and it works fine
>>417666357
will do
I wonder if I might also have an unreasonable expectation for the cleanness of the compression since I used normal pcvr headset before this
>kks main game vr mod not working anymore
AAAAAAAAA
it just launches the regular game no matter how I pass the --vr option
>>417672405
okay, read the log and figured all the missing VR dlls were probably deleted by some esoteric ksmanager process, now it launches steamvr properly
>>417661010
But flat screen console ports don't get anywhere near this amount of performance gains just because of more efficient rendering pipelines. This would only be the case if current pcvr is just leaking performance due to shitty windows processes. Reminder that a ps5 is more or less on par with a 2070. That means it's punching 80% above it's weight class if it's 10% more performant than a 3090ti
>>417674415
could also be some sort of baked-in more advanced spacewarp to artificially bloat up "performance"
>>417674415
You are forgetting that that retard doesn't program the engine himself, he gets what unreal offers him.
Dave is incompetent, he cannot optimize for shit.
"vulkan/dx12 cannot get close to dx11" is a brainlet cope which instantly exposes him and invalidates his opinion completely.
>>417674415
If it can better give the illusion of 120 than the psvr1 reprojection did then its honestly not a bad solution. Every previewer keeps regurgitating how "smooth" it runs so I'd imagine it gives that illusion pretty well. I'm curious to see how it feels vs native 90hz. Seeing as how they're targeting for hybrid games reprojection is crucial. If a flat game is already targeting 4k60 than running it on a 4k headset at 60 projected to 120 will take minimal optimization.
>>417677302
>Every previewer keeps regurgitating how "smooth" it runs so I'd imagine it gives that illusion pretty well.
People who actually know their shit and basically live in VR say it feels like shit and VERY distracting.
>>417677904
Yeah I've heard of the ghosting issue. Wondering if its something that can actually be patched.
>>417657827
>says specialised hardware is great for optimisation
>game is entirely made out of slapped together prefabs
>>417673339
damn the VR mod for the main game is so much better than the official VR
>>417657827
It's true, for any console, but to achieve something close to that performance you need at least one John Carmack on your team, or a team that has worked close with the hardware years before release.
>>417692093
He said they've been working on the psvr2 port for a year but as someone else mentioned Im guessing the near 3090ti performance is with spacewarp. If the port really is gonna be a full 120hz without reprojection than that would explain why updates have been stagnant. I wish more games ran at full 90/120 fps cause as it stands the reprojection has ghosting issues.
The shooting range and armory in the Breachers main menu is just for show, right?

It really doesn't. I made the 2nd post regarding the reprojection issue but as someone else mentioned only extremely seasoned vr users so far have noticed it. Most previewers have had access to the best sim rigs there are available and would use them as a comparison point.
>>417707929

But it really doesn't. If your complaint is the pixelation that's due to the foveated rendering.

I already noticed that, and once again it's not because chunky pixels.

The one thing that is actually turning me off from the PSVR2 is how stupidly big the controllers are. I'm so spoiled from my Meta pro controllers which has zero tracking rings and not to mention, we still don't know the battery life of the PSVR2 controllers which is worrisome. The controller for the PS5 has shit battery life so I don't know man.
>>417755737
Yeah Im hoping the haptics compensate for some of the glaring drawbacks. Bradley made the point that they're also too light for his liking so I won't rule out the possibility of a 3rd party battery dongle thingy that also gives the controller a bit more heft. Dualsense battery life varies extremely imo. GT7 drains through the whole thing in like 3 hours but that's a game that goes completely ham on haptics and vibrations to where I can feel every single bump, gearshift, tire skid and even some other stuff I can't name off the top of my head rn. Games that are lighter on haptics last me about ~7 or so hours. I feel like the vr controllers are made to last a single session and then placed on a charging dock or something which isn't good.
What are the essential mods for H3VR ? I'm only interested in the T&H mode, not all the shooting range stuff. Unless there's a mod that adds another game mode but I doubt that.

Realistically what card would I need to run most games at 90fps without spacewarp on something like a Q2 ? I'm fine with reprojection but the few seconds where a game goes to "real" 90fps feel so much better. The only problem is it's hard justifying getting a expensive rig for VR since something half the price does the job perfectly for flatscreen games.
>>417797738
For max settings? At least the 2080ti or 3070ti. If you're okay with making visual sacrifices, then you could go as low as a 1080ti or something. Buy used from ebay and you can save a ton of money. I just bought my 3090 for 650$. Other cards are also going for cheap.

Platform restrictions aside what do you think about the gameplay and how it looks? I like how they went ham with particle effects.
>>417818110
Is Onogoro any good? How long is it? It's the only one in that bundle I haven't tried yet.
>>417830874
I like the visual effects. Gas coming out of the barrel, all the sparks, bullet impacts looking almost explosive on some surfaces and the red glare that I assume happens when strong enemies target you. It's arcadey but so is mowing down dozens/hundreds of enemies so it fits. I'd hope whatever they're doing with the magnifed optics is just for the mirror view because if multiple developers including Dave can get proper scopes on Quest then PS5 can surely handle them.
Other than that I consider it a good sign when a VR game trailer seems to mostly be real gameplay.
Breachers alpha got updated.
https://github.com/TriangleFactory/Breachers/releases
Added flashbangs and a virtual stock option.
Though this feels like one of the few games where a virtual stock might do more harm than good.
been playing the RDR2 vr mod for the past few days. im really glad i missed out on playing it with flatscreen, because this is the best experience ive had with VR so far. the visuals, the atmosphere, the characters, everything about it just feels so alive. any side quests that you'd think would be boring can end up being a great experience. i actually just slowly walked around the first city for an hour, randomly found a theater performance, and enjoyed it while completely forgetting i was in a game. it's only a shame that it's not a real port, so the gunfights feel more like an arcade game.
>>417864910

>>417919823
The eye tracking with the Pro is genuinely useful as ALVR can use it for dynamic foveating when streaming. It's a meme otherwise.

Anon, seething won't make PCVR any less dead. When tranny chat has more PCVR players than everything else combined no dev is going to bother. Our only hope is that PSVR2 and PCVR combined convinces a few of them to risk making a game that isn't built for Quest from the start.

Steam Next Fest VR Demos February 2023
>Good
Not Good
Alpha Terminus: Mech game where you control the arms, but it's just a rail shooter.
Aquatic Messenger: Controls broken.
>Band Space: Multiplayer Rockband with drums/guitar/bass/keys. Must play, best demo here. (adjust instrument positions in pause menu)
Events at Unity Farm: You are a black kid witch and walk around a farm shooting zombies, clunky magic inventory.
>Formula Retro Racing: Polygonal racer with drift or regular turning. Gamepad only.
Gazzlers: Literal on rails shooter with random gun upgrades.
Golf on the Moon: Broken.
Increment: Cookie clicker in VR with a Le Art tone.
>No More Rainbows: Gorilla Tag singleplayer mode.
Ornament Express: Very short room puzzle.
Taolu: Kungfu training dummy, but you copy one move at a time so there is no way to build a rhythm.
VetVR: Perform surface level procedures on 1 dog. Claims to be accurate.
VReken: Arena street fighting with a focus on intercepting punches but enemies are too simplistic.
>VRnoid: Arkanoid plus air hockey. (how is this still not released?)
Games with per object motion blur?

It's not bad, IMO worth it for that price if you don't have anything else, or like me your index is slowly falling apart and you want a backup. The tracking isn't the worst; you won't be winning beat saber competitions but it's perfectly serviceable. Shooty games are probably worse because of occlusion but I didn't try much. I think you'd just find yourself playing a different selection of VR games. The resolution is very good in the center of your FOV, and the headphones and mic are the exact same as the index (i.e. very very good).
I've never been tempted to switch back to it from the index (while it's working), but I wouldn't be that unhappy to.

The wireless adapter is great when it works, but it has always had lot of stability issues.
Expect a random greyout/blackout about once an hour, and depending on the game you have to completely shut down VR and even restart the vive wireless app to get everything working again.
Mine finally started dying every couple of minutes after 1-2 hours of use, so finally got some pulleys instead.

Too many VR games get scopes wrong. I was so frustrated by Sniper Elite VR fucking it up.
Never used any of these generals but guessing by the fact there needs to be 2 different vr generals you've all come to the same conclusion that vrchat trannies are completely disconnected from the vr industry as a hole and are generally just retarded and annoying.
>>418351201
I just want to play and talk about games and you can't do that in /vrg/.

I think me and one or two other anons keep this thread alive out of sheer spite cause of the vrchat fags that shit up the other thread.
Maybe one day we'll go on a mass report spree and try and take back the other thread but it probably wouldn't work.
>>418371451
I'm not really doing it out of spite, it's just that it's the only real vr thread
vrg is just /soc/
So I see people doing cool tricks and shit in H3VR with guns and reloading, just how hard is it to do in practice ? I often fumble when playing ItR in moments of panic (like grabbing the wrong thing) with my Q2 controllers. Wondering if it's a >skill issue or if H3VR has more precise handling.
My brother just bought a valve index and it is amazing, what are must have software/games? Have Alyx, h3vr which are great and other games in his library that are not originally for vr, also have walking dead and it is pretty shit.

Into the radius needs to be on that list, contractors, sairento, Half Life 2 VR (the better Alyx) and if your brother is into sandboxes and mods, bonelab, and if he is more for linear campaigns, bonework. For more eye candy Hubris
>>418387145
mix it up. 8K for landscape, 4K for the rest, or do the 4K 2K shuffle. Once you glanced upon High res textured dyndolod mountains you cant go back

>>418394674
You can see them in 3D when looking at them face on. When you go the side they look flat. They look much nicer in VR than flat thanks to stereoscopy. The main downside right now is that Skyrim VR doesn't support terrain parallax yet, but everything else seems to be fine.
>>418403908
It's interesting as a high end option at least. Did they say what the refresh rate was?
>>418411867
75 + 90Hz
>>418411975
Oh. That's a bit disappointing. Maybe the OLED motion clarity can make up for that in some way, but on the Index's LED screens, even 144 Hz doesn't feel smooth enough sometimes.
page ten again
page 10
>>418412146
I like OLED with my flat monitor at least because the response time is better and there is no ghosting. I think that the main issue with most OLEDs up until now is the pentile shit which makes them bad in VR, but with the PSVR1 and now this new headset there is a subpixel stripe.
hey retards
everyone knows 1337 is the passcode to VRG lobbies

>>418428345
sir, this is a wendy's.
Is putting magazines in in H3VR supposed to be this hard or do I have noodle fingers ? I can't put one in at all in a hurry.
>>418431339
H3 has absolute dogshit controls and gun handling. No idea why it gets as much praise as it does. Yes it is that hard by design and yes it is a bad design.
>>418432337
That's a shame, wish there was at least a setting in between what's default and the "easy" mode where the magazine warps to the gun from 3km away.
>>418431339
There's an option to make it easier but that's boring. It's a skill you practice.
>>418432337
The controls are great when you get used to them and the granularity is really nice.
>>418432337
No other game goes nearly as far with the gun simulation as it does, especially across so many different guns.
>>418442634
Receiver 2 arguably goes further. You had to do things like depress the magazine follower to insert new rounds in. In addition to the infamous constant glock-legging mechanics and misfires.
Vail had an interesting if completely useless feature where you could actually manipulate the fire selector of guns with your hands. So you'd have to go and move the lever thing on the AK-types if you wanted semi-auto. It also had way better scope implementations.

best vr game for unleashing an increasingly uncontainable rage?

Thrill of the Fight.
>PSVR2 Without Parole says the Sense controllers will have 4 hours battery life. If true, then Sony needs to sell extra pairs of Sense controllers as soon as possible after launch.

>>418474253
4 hours is longer than the Dualsense.
>>418403908
>>418401505
I'd bought, but sadly doesn't shipping in my country
>>418432781
Fumbling magazines is part of the fun. More games should've leaned into that.

>6.36x lighter than the valve index

vr trannies are gonna love this
>Compound
>Sweet Surrender
>Until You Fall
>Jet Island
Thoughts on which game to get next ? I'm only taking one.
>>418487126
Sweet surrender is the only one I can't speak for but it does look good. Pretty good lineup, doubt you could go wrong with any choice.
7 YEARS later:
>still needs cable
>still doesn't even come close to 150 fov
>still no 4k per eye
>still no 120hz
>still overpriced
>still no vr gloves
>still no small form factor
>still has a fucking bump behind your head so you can't rest on bed
HOLY SHIT vr is fucking stagnant.
can't believe this piece of junk is 600 euro. 600 FUCKING EURO AHAHAHAHAAHAHAH they are fucking crazy, this shit is dead on arrival...
>>418501641
If given a choice, i'd rather revert to cv1 and receive more vidya in return than get a fancy new wireless 150fov eye tracked 4k headset with gloves and keep playing same shit. Software is the real problem here. That being said, modern headsets go way over 120hz, even plain index is 144hz. and as for FOV and resolution, there are those insane pimaxes with 160 fov and 4k displays if you're desperate enough.
>>418501641
>vr gloves

and the hassle of putting them on every time

>Software is the real problem here.
totally, softawre is number 1 but hardware sucks too in this industry
>>418501641
>vr gloves
Except the quest doesn't even need controllers. The hand recognition is surprisingly capable.
>>418506118
Is it restricted to games that actively implemented hand-based tracking, or can you map your hands to controller actions? Always been wondering, hand tracking/feedback-less gloves never made any sense to me because we're still mapping actions to buttons, and using thumbsticks to move around. Is quest hand-tracking usable in normal games?
>>418507274
Nah, I think the game has to support hand tracking as far as I know.
>>417714080
>Spice n wolf VR 1 and 2
I like that it has a good story, and it's rating is positive.
Bookful: Girls with Guts is another VR game i'm in love with, coz it features the celebration of the strength and endurance of women and girls.
