Ghost of Tabor chads report in
I'm looking for wireless PCVR and I'd like some input on which headset is the best. The new Vive XR Elite looked like it might be what I want, but I've been talking to Vive about its specs and it won't work with my existing Valve base stations and index controllers. i'm currently using a Vive Pro 1 headset i bought in 2018. It looks like my options are either airlink with a Meta device, the NoFi third party adapter for the index with a months long waiting list, or the Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter. I bought and then returned via Amazon the Vive Pro 2 and the wireless adapter as it was a malfunctioning shitshow from day one. Constant signal dropping, extremely hot and uncomfortable, bad visuals and frame rate, and bad ergonomics and weight distribution. I switched it back to wired mode only to get ten frames per second, the wireless adapter had caused damage to the headset somehow. I ended up getting a refund via Amazon.
Overall my options for wireless PCVR don't look great. Only the Index headset has a wireless adapter, but it's third party and I'd have to wait months to get it. Even then the index has worse visuals and FOV then newer PCVR headsets. The Pimax 12k Qled is supposed to support wireless PCVR. When I asked Pimax about when it would be available they had no release date, even a projected one, they would give me. If I just wait for the Pimax 12k I could be waiting for a while. I'm just looking for something that would let me lose the wire for PCVR since I'm standing four feet from my PC. Even with the Kiwi cable manager I get constant pull from the tether over my head and it's extremely annoying.
>>418582647
tldr Quest 2
>>418582837
Wouldn't the Quest Pro work better if I'm stuck using the airlink? The Somnium VR1 looks cool but has no release date yet. The MeganeX Micro-OLED looks cool but has no release date yet other than early 2023, can't even pre-order yet. I'm willing to buy a really expensive headset if they quality is good and it does what I want. I'm thinking about just getting the HP Reverb G2 for $500 and just waiting until something better hits the market, since I'm currently still using my Vive Pro 1 that is five years old. All the stuff that looks like it will do what I want hasn't hit the market yet and is still "Coming Soon!", I've been waiting to upgrade for a while.
>>418584183

>>418582647
I genuinely believe you should wait like 8-9 months until the new waves of VR headsets that come with the next gen chips. Apparently they will offer a lot of benefits for wireless PCVR and PCVR in general. Wifi 7 is expected to be in Quest 3 for example and I'm sure the whole compression will be handled better with the help of the new chip.
>>418588767
>face + eye tracking $200?
doubt
https://youtu.be/WCxmbavVqys
If only they would update 7 with these controls
>>418597941
i based it on that it would cost me $130 to add a vive face tracker to one of my other headsets
the psvr2 has a built in soc, maybe for handling tracking. i know its cope but maybe pc compatibility might not be that hard to hack together?
>>418602548
Even if you get the tracking to work. How are you going to make the eye tracking, and haptics work? The games that do support it are exclusive on PS5. Not to mention the shitty compression that comes from plugging it via USB C to the PC. Why would you even use it on PC at that point?
>>418602983
eye tracking is tobii so its proprietary and probably will never work. not the point tho, in a couple of years i can see this being cheap to buy second hand.
>>418604013
In a couple of years, micro OLED with pancake lenses paired with higher resolution is gonna be a thing so I don't know why you would care about the PSVR 2. It'd be extremely outdated especially when it's not even using pancake lenses, and it's still the same size as PSVR 1.
>>418604409
not really a big deal if its a little outdated, the index is still the best value and it's a few years old now. best case scenario, it flops and you can get one for $300 used. would be better quality than a quest 3 and you could get a ps5 later once they figure out piracy.
>>418598737
Doesn't the mod on PC have motion control support hacked in?
>>418604409
If nothing else PSVR2 would be the cheapest and probably best bang for buck because it's going to be the one manufactured at scale.
>>418606316
Eh, If you have a PS5 then I would say the PSVR 2 is the best value.

https://uploadvr.com/why-psvr2-wont-work-on-pc/
>>418585185
Got my chat with Vive customer support passed up the food chain to someone with more knowledge. They said that it can work in PCVR mode with wife 6 but that it will not work with my index controllers so I'd need to get new hookups and it won't work the the four Valve Base stations I own. The Vive XR Elite would probably work better as a standalone that connects to PC via wifi, but I really just want wireless PCVR that work with my base stations.
>>418594801
Waiting until the end of the year was the option I was dreading, since I've got the money saved up to spend and want something that is going to offer good wireless PCVR with good weight and balance to the headset. The several different new PCVR headsets i want are taking too long to release. I could afford to just get the Varjo Aero but I really want wireless capabilities and I'm looking for something that is going to cut down on the amount of weight and bulk that hangs off the front of my face.
Also, has anyone here tried the new Kat VR wireless treadmill? I'm looking for more full body immersion and I'd love to actually run around in VR with my own legs.
>>418622235
The MeganeX looks like it will have a lot of the features that I want. It will work with Steam VR and my existing base stations and controllers. It's got a snapdragon Xr-1 chip and both inside out and base station tracking. With a built in chip it must have some kind of standalone capability in addition to Steam VR base station mode. If it's got standalone capabilities it must have some kind of wireless functionality and built in power supply. I'd have to ask the manufacturer for more specifics. It's supposed to release in March or April of this year. If that's the case I'd just wait a few more weeks whether then just get the HP Reverb G2 for $500 now like I would if I'd have to wait until the fall to get a next gen headset.

In H3VR, using a Q2, I cannot grab anything stored on my vest unless I actually look down. This is not the case for shoulder slots. Is this a limitation of the Quest tracking or some game optimization related particularity ? I have no problem grabbing things that are out of sight in other games that use the same vest system for storage. I can even reach out to my holster and grab my pistol while slightly looking up in Into the Radius for example.

>>418600202
That and Vive's face tracker doesn't do eye tracking. Eye tracking is genuinely useful for the QP as ALVR can use it for dynamic foveated streaming to get less compression in visible spots. It's only a matter of time before Virtual Desktop gets that feature too.

Apperently psvr2 registers as a displayport monitor on pc which means the usb signal isn't encrypted. I doubt community sourced steam vr support cause of the inside out tracking and what not but hopefully in a few years sirs at Sony will do the needful. Im curious to see how it duals as a strap on display once mine gets here. Good thing about my legion 5 is that it actually has DP 1.4 through usb c

I just looked this up and it was the case with psvr1 as well. Fucking retarded previewers didn't even put it on their head just cause steam didn't pick it up as a headset. I've heard great things so far about the cinematic mode on ps5. Its essentially a 1080p 120hz HDR OLED display Infront of you. For the og psvr it still needs to be connected to a ps4 through usb for the actual headset tracking which is kind of a bummer. windows recognizes it as a 1080p display which is the same res as the "cinematic" mode. Since there won't be any headset tracking I wonder if its gonna be a static display locked to the headset similar to the nreal.
>>418810184
I have the 2022 5i pro model with i7 12700h and 3070. Fans do get pretty loud in games but Im very impressed how its completely silent with general browsing and watching movies. with those tasks the cpu temp hovers between 45c to 55c which I have set to 900-1100 rpm in legion fan control utility which is completely silent. Very cool machines.

that's too bad but it's understandable since there would be no software behind to put an environment

There will never be a vr game with triple A budget. Flat games will always have the best art direction, story, playtime, etc. I always get way more excited for a good port of a classic flatscreen game then some indie shit.
This weekend I will try to mod SkyrimVR for the first time. God I hope it's going to take me less than 2 hours... wish me luck bros.

If I'm lucky there's a handy Wabbajack available that's just essential VR stuff without anything else, that will save me some time.
burp
>>418880861
I was totally new to modding. Managed to get SkyrimVR working with FUS using Wabbajack. It took a bit of >effort<, but once you get everything downloaded and follow the instructions you get hundreds of hours of gameplay in a customizable and optimized package.
>>418873105
All of them work. Enderal loves its exposition, so in VR it's fun to fuck around with things while plot is explained to you.
>>418880861
If you use wabbajacks dont even try to add other mods if you dont know what you do. sure way to fuck things up
>>418894535

even then. if you dont know what you are doing mixing manual mods and modpacks you can easiyl break the entire build fuck up savefiles if you do it in between playing. Or you can get lucky. but rule of thumb, either set it all up manually and get the load orders and possible merges right or just go with a modpack and keep it at it

>>418911454
Skyrim VR is a separate version that's based off of SSE
>>418877531
I like the collision as it doesn't really affect gameplay and adds a bit of immersion. That said Skyrim VR before PLANCK could get really funny with damage based knockback.
>>418867170
Only cracked exes have that problem. If you get an uncracked exe but use a steam emulator (Goldberg, SmartSteamEmu, etc.) there won't be any problem.
>>418914598

Me. I've been taking a break from VR altogether. It's been difficult containing my pessimism about the future of PCVR given the stagnant and recently barren state of it. Player counts aren't rising and everyone, including me, is still playing the same old games.
At least there are some games coming, more than there were this time last year I think. On top of the ones already posted there's:
>Vertigo 2 30th March
>Hellsweeper Q2 2023
District Steel also just went into early access, the demo was good but the EA release sounds like it's too light on content for now.

>>418942725
If you enable it with weapon throw VR, yeah. Bonus points if you use conduit to imbue them with an element before doing so.
>>418943054
S&S 2 at least exists. It's not like Blunt Force which is pretty much vaporware or god knows how many early access games which are never getting finished (Unknightly, Everslaught). I don't honestly think that Quest games are that much better. There are a few light mobile games but nothing big since RE4 has come out. Facebook hasn't talked about San Andreas since it was announced.
>>418950769
I did. It felt like they just took all the same assets of saints and sinners and threw a robot model over the zombies. Terrible. But then they had a couple of updates that looked like complete changes and I once again got suckered in. I'll be waiting for a lets play to see how the gameplay goes and if any new enemies or environments are made. Not developing for the quest 1 any more would help it hopefully.
>>418950245

After I posted that, I just spent more than an hour figuring out how to modify nifskope collisions for meshes. I haven't tested it, so keep it mind you will be downloading files from a 70IQ individual who never used this software before. So, here's the spear meshes with possibly fixed collisions :
https://files.catbox.moe/eqpj1p.rar
Some use box shapes, other capsule shapes. Why ? See above.
Also, I hope I found this software to be an unintuitive piece of shit that would make any company using it waste countless man hours because I am dumb and inexperienced and not because it is, in fact, an unintuitive piece of shit.

The VR ports were funded by Sony for the PSVR and then ported to PC. Now Bethesda is owned by Microsoft and Starfield is Xbox/Windows exclusive so that's not gonna happen again. Phil doesn't care about VR so Todd himself would have to care enough about it to make a PCVR version. Unless Phil changes his mind about VR in a few years and orders Starfield VR.

>>419263034
Upgrade your computer first. Running VR with your rig will just be a frustrating experience either regarding performance or visual fidelity. Not to mention, there's always the problem of the game library. I'm sure you have plenty of games you played or will play on flatscreen that you'd wish you could run better.
VR library isn't as barren as it used to but you will run out at some point if you spend a lot of time using your headset, sandbox/coom/VRChat stuff excluded.
boomp
>>419241705
that image is referencing warband though
>>419263034
Upgrade first. One thing that really surprised me is that VR games can be pretty CPU heavy.
>>419263034
You'd be able to run Alyx but not much else comfortably, upgrade and or wait for the deckard, the 7800X3D is nearly out and anons here swear up and down the extra cache on the 5800X3D makes a huge difference
Benchmarks show it achieves a lower maximum framerate but a much, much higher minimum framerate which is much more important to VR
I originally thought DLSS was a meme, but after not being satisfied with my SkyrimVR performance I tried the mod that enables it and the performance bump vs. image fidely is appreciable. I still think it's baffling that it has quickly become a crutch for shit optimization but VR is one area where it might be useful since not everyone has 4090s. Problem is, if you're using it you at least have a 3000 series card meaning you probably get decent performance in most games already.
>>419284531
>anons here swear up and down the extra cache on the 5800X3D makes a huge difference
Me and another anon did a 5800X vs 5800X3d benchmark comparison. I had a 5800X, he had a 5800X3D, and we went to the same vrc worlds and saw the same vrc stuff and got some really nice frametime benchmarks down. The difference in VRC was extreme. Like 200-400% faster.
>>419288776
Zamn I didn't know CPUs still made a difference at those resolutions since they barely do for flatscreen 4K with the same GPU. Might not be able to afford a 5xxx series but if spending a little more on a CPU can make me get better performance that's good to know.

>>419339280
it's bery gud
I know I'm bottlenecked by my pc's specs more so it's not an issue for me, but with a pc in ethernet with a good router it's fine.
People complaining about compression are mostly richfags who have the latest i9 and a 4090, and have tested every headset.
>>419339280
I was really disappointed. Coming from the Index I was expecting to enjoy the higher PPD. Instead the compression is super obvious and the latency makes all the rhythm games I enjoy impossible. And no, I'm not playing the standalone versions when I already have Ragnarock with all of its DLC and lotsa custom songs on Steam. This is with an ethernet cable attaching my PC directly to a Wifi 6E router.
>>419339280
If your eye sight isn't complete shit and you've tried a headset with comparable pixel density, compression is gonna range from present but worth wireless, to ruins the damn scene bad. If you don't know what you're missing, then it'll probably not hurt as much, but it won't be terribly hard to notice certain scenes look varying degrees of "off".
If you're on a budget, there aren't too many better options though.
>>419339280
Wireless works really well, I've tried cable and wireless on Q2 and I'll pretty much never go back to weird now. I've heard people have a lot of problems with AMD though.
>>419343079
>to ruins the damn scene bad
honestly most of the time if you crank up the render resolution that goes away.
The only problem I really notice is the weird artifacts on some straight high-contrast lines.
>>419343992
I've cranked it to 1.5x on a 4090 and the compression is still very evident in certain scenes. It is impressive how much they managed to fit through such limited bandwidth, I think at times you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference without a direct side by side, but it's still only a few hundred megabytes per second max with varying quality.
>>419344758
Yeah I think it's max 150MB/s. It's really to bad they kind of cheaped out on the wifi card (though that could just be a restriction from the motherboard), because with dedicated routers you could go way higher
>>419288556
I had to use DLSS when playing RDR2 on my 3090, but that's mostly because alternate eye rendering is so garbage. For most other games I just use DLAA.
>>419345267
wait that means that any non-chinesium usb to usb c cable will do, since that's within usb 2.0 speeds
Do link cucks really pay a premium for a usb 2 cable?
>>419339280
>>419343079
I did a side by side comparison of 500mbps and 300mbps using the debug tool and saw zero difference. Most people complaining about it usually have an AMD card, end up describing issues that are actually the fault of the lens, or only tested it back before Meta fixed airlink. The only two valid criticisms are latency and processing power for the encode. The former is like 40ms for me, which is not something I really notice, and the latter has been tested to be about only 5% less performance compared to other headsets. The benefits of wireless are way too good for me to go back to wired.
>>419350008
Get your eyes checked then, because the compression is definitely there if you've checked out a headset with native DP but a similar pixel density, even on a Nvidia card. It's literal 10s of times less bandwidth than DP provides and the fact it's not a deep fried mess and is even slightly comparable despite that is an amazing feat, but it's still there even with a great router and wired ethernet in the same room.
>>419345267
>Yeah I think it's max 150MB/s
the highest you can set it to in the normal settings is 200mbps
you can set it even higher in the debug tool, but 250-300 is the absolute max before it bugs out
>>419350008
I'm pretty sure even if you set it higher in airlink, it maxes out at 288mbps, which would explain your result.
>>419350695
For airlink, yeah. VD's max is 150mbps but it's HVEC, meaning for fair comparison it's about double that.
>>419350556
Not sure what to tell you. I was looking at all the background mountains in skyrim and it had the exact same details as I could see on my monitor at 300mbps. Artifacts completely go away past 200mbps.
>It's literal 10s of times less bandwidth than DP provides
In this case it's not about which one has more bandwidth, but is there enough bandwidth. And the answer is yes.
>>419357589
Using your monitor to try and measure it is a completely invalid comparison, use another headset which has a native DP cable and similar density, due to the differences in how the headsets work and the perceived pixel density, even at average sitting distance an average sized 1080p monitor will be sizably sharper with a higher pixel density than a Quest 2 is, alongside the fact it is mirroring what's in your headset so no shit it's not going to look significantly different on all the details. And you clearly don't understand how bandwidth works either, because you require such highh numbers like gbps even in flatscreen stuff. There is a reason some people are excited about DP 2.0 since 1.4a physically lacks the bandwidth to properly support things like high refresh rate 8k, despite it's literally 2 orders of magnitude greater bandwidth than the Quest 2's few hundred megabytes.
>>419358092
>alongside the fact it is mirroring what's in your headset so no shit it's not going to look significantly different on all the details
thats not how it works
>>419350008
>40ms
That isn't too bad but I don't really have much to compare it to. I remember getting a bluetooth headset with like 100+ms latency and it was absolute cancer for vr.
>>419360047
You can play competitive fps games with 40ms, it's not really a huge deal.
>>419357589
How do you even play with 200mbps? My sound just gets fucked when I try.
>>419350695
Is there a difference going from 200 to 250 ? I've set it to 200 and there's still pixelation but I think that's just the pixel density.
>>419333649
Figured it out, apparently you can't do it in OpenXR mode but it's the system button in OepnVR. Which opens up the dashboard but closing the dashboard brings you to the menu.
Other than the weird button mapping, the VR mod's controls are really impressive. It's kind of mindblowing that the modder managed to get first aid working the way it does.
Anyway, is the crosshair ever needed for anything or is it playable with it disabled? I know the game has the stupid focus aim mechanic but other than that, is there anything you need it for?

my eyesight is shit and i only own a laptop with rtx2060 for now, so even if i bought a dedicated router probably it wouldn't be enough for wireless
Speaking of air link, what part of the hardware chain do you think could be responsible for this problem I have? The game basically just stops or slows down to a crawl with warped sound for a bit, then goes in fast forward to its current state, this happens often enough to be annoying. Is it the wi-fi? It's 6, but it's behind a concrete wall with no recourse. Or is it the specs? Ryzen 5 5600X and a fucking 970.
It doesn't seem to happen less or more often if I tone down the resolution, either.

>speculative boomers can't get with the times
What are they speculating? That Valve has 1 Index left and all the sudden they can sell them like a GPU during the pandemic bitcoin craze?
>>419454680
>Because the Index used to be a high-demand, limited quantity item
It had a waitlist for ordering when it released.
If I had to guess, and this is complete speculation on my part, they probably were thinking it'd sell like the PS5.
>>419455145
Idk why anyone would buy a used one on eBay for $950 and void their warranty on something that's known to eat shit. Guess it means I can sell mine when I get bored of it though.
>>419455323
Don't expect too high a payoff. The base stations and controllers are pretty high quality, so all you'd really be selling is the headset, unless you have a newer/better replacement for those accessories, too. That's already $500, and then you have to consider that the headset is already 4 years old and is most likely going to be outclassed within a few years. Even Shillseeker isn't shilling it as his main anymore.
>>419456008
Oh, you mean I'd be inclined to keep the base stations and controllers and ditch the headset? I'd probably ditch vr entirely once I get bored of the Index.
And yeah it's weird people are selling for 95% value of something that's 4 years old and probably about to be eclipsed.
What does shillseeker main?
>>419456946
Fair enough. I wouldn't say it costs $950 used, though.
>What does shillseeker main?
A new headset, the Bigscreen Beyond. High resolution, slightly lower refresh rate, notably lower FOV, but also significantly lower weight.
Preorder price is $1k just for the headset alone.
>>419439593
Will probably have to wait on a media app specifically for vr(not through the built in "cinematic mode) to support 3d.
>>419457667
>shilling for a media VR headset
I mean it's nice but horrendously expensive for the little use it has (watching movies)
>>419439593
That is baffling. I don't think that a single VR video player for PC or Quest doesn't support 3D.
>>419457667
>I wouldn't say it costs $950 used, though.
Roughly what I'm seeing on eBay after shipping. If I was patient or got into some bidding wars, maybe I'd walk away at $850.
>>419457667
>A new headset, the Bigscreen Beyond.

>>419457667

I realized I wasn't being very clear. I have no VR at all right now, so I'd need to purchase the whole kit, base stations, controller, and headset.

Even without built in audio its better than the index. Higher res, Actual worthwhile haptics, Oled, Lighter. The only thing the index has an edge over psvr2 is fov.

The PSVR was my first headset, been using Index since 2020. Still pre-ordered the new headset because I'm curious about foveated rendering and the haptics. The design seems almost unchanged from the original, so I didn't expect the visual experience to be an insane leap. Having proper tracking and motion controllers alone would make it a worthwhile upgrade for console-only players in my opinion, though for the price you would think it'd be much more of a complete and drastic upgrade. If nothing else, it should've included an audio solution like the Index. Playing high-intensity games on the original PSVR was annoying because my headphones' cable would dangle.

the recommended lod detail levels destroyed my rtx 3060, but 3/6/12/24 mesh quality in xlodgen and 256-512 pixel lods seem to give good performance
After the Fall added 2 new maps, which is has always sorely needed more of.
>Hospital - Fairly standard map, has a nice midway defence setpiece and an outdoors hold at the end.
>Subway - No saferooms and it works very well. Sacrificing inventory space to carry cards all the way to the end was painful. Cramped and difficult with a lot of horde spawns that come from all directions forcing you to move and shoot.

>>419555609
Infinite VR gaming time is not good for your health thoughever...
>>419550432
I also bought it. Got pretty far on my first run, past the 2nd boss and up to some really strong enemies with StG 44s that completely destroyed me.
Lots of environmental variety as you go through the levels which is something not a lot of VR games and roguelikes get right.
A bit too much reliance on teleporting in the levels for my taste but maybe that will make fast and aggressive playstyle fun.
The enemies hit hard even early on. It's very forgiving as you get a second chance if you die. The enemies became very tanky for me at the end so I clearly needed upgrades or a better build than the random shit I chose. Multiple health bars, armor and I'm pretty sure I saw a mage revive someone.
Enemy variety seemed okay to me. Archers, different classes of gunners, shields, dogs, turrets, mages, tall skinnies and more. Plus the bosses.
There's some kind of subtle asynchronous multiplayer going on. The early levels were littered with dead noob ghosts like the bloodstains in Dark Souls. Later on you can find NPCs that request items and seem to fight enemies, I gave one a medkit but I don't think it did anything. Found a few dead ones too.
Can't really comment on weapon variety yet, it looks small. The items you find in a run give you secondary firemodes and other effects. One of them saved my life here.

I was wondering why nobody talks about this Alyx campaign considering it's length is comparable to Levitation and now I know, it's so incredibly mean spirited in design
Most puzzles are thrown at you in a "Think fast faggot" way but you're not provided with clues until you die, you're expected to trial and error your way through it but the problem is it's buggy and shit breaks often, especially the climbing, you're routinely expected to climb on and around things and the detection just doesn't work until you reload, like climbing the cube in boneworks but if the magnets randomly turned off
It's a 4 hour campaign too so it's not a one off, it's by design and it's just terrible

Anyone else here get their PSVR2? The headset is genuinely the most comfortable i've ever worn but the reprojection in GT7 and Resi8 really pisses me off. GT7 isn't too bad since I'm in a cock pit and don't have to move my head around too much but village gets insanely blurry when not standing still. Anyone tried other games using reprojection they can warn me about? I know Pavlov and Moss 1&2 run at a native 90hz and Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite at full 120 but I have no clue about any other games.

>>419574836
Airlink absolutely stresses the hardware to the point you get a worst-case battery life scenario.
>huge video at a high bitrate to decode
>have to keep the wifi signal going full power the whole time
Played a bit of Kizuna Ai, GT7, and Tetris on PSVR2. Clarity and field of view aren't as bad as I was expecting. Not Index quality, but more than serviceable. Waiting on the controllers to charge so I can try RE8 and Snorizon.

>>418836856
>Pixelrim
Is this realy pixelrim? This looks nicer than the screenshots on the mod page.
>>419602939
Tried a friend's setup and also felt the same about the projection. There's a stark difference between 60fps interpolated to 120hz (most PSVR2 games), and a native 80-90hz on your average PCVR. That aside, headset was sharper looking than I expected on GT7, more than I'm used to with my current Quest 2 on Dirt Rally.
>>419608879
That's Pixelrim with the settings at ultra, hence the lighting not being 100% garbage.
>>419608105

it just lowers the resolution outside of your vision to save performance, which means more fps, which means possibly running a game without the need for reprojection

>>419609445
>but eye tracked FR means you don't have to move your head to properly look left and right

>>419608105
No not really. Whether eye tracking is turned on or off there will be reprojection in games trying to push pancake level fidelity. RE8, Horizon, and NMS are the current culprits. This makes me kinda pissed since it implies that all the AAA hybrid games will be reprojected instead of better optimizing/scaling back some detail to reach full 90 and still look 10x better than Quest 2 games.

if any of them get ported to PCVR and have fundamentally good gameplay loops I'd be intrigued.
>>419688043
Ugh what are they doing. The VR mode for 4remake has just now begun development. I wish they made deals for ports of 7th gen games that could actually run at full 90/120.
I wouldn't hold my breath on this state of play tho. The flatscreen indies looked to be pretty shit as well.

Seems like the PSVR2 has its own chunk of problems and isn't gonna be the perfect VR Messiah that people hyped it up to be.
>>419702567
The hype has always been about it being "pretty damn good for the price", not perfect.
>>419702567
I mean it's still fresnel
$550 for fresnel and a wire is too much.
I'm not buying another headset unless it's wireless and uses pancake lenses (or something better).
The fundamental issues have to be addressed first, there is no point wasting time on gimmicks like HDR yet.
>still no VR headset for the ultrarich using CGH to mog any kind of lens
Fuck, now I'm thinking about buying QPro.
If only there was a way to fix comfort.
>>419707849
honestly seeing the specs, the quest pro seems like a literal scam
>>419702567
PSVR2 is the only headset I've been able to keep on for 4 hours without pause even with the annoying reprojection issues. All it needs is just even more games, games, and games
>>419701468
PS5 has BSD based OS right? Why would it need to run Linux on the headset itself though? Just to run tracking software? Maybe they are doing split rendering? Like the world being rendered at high resolution, but low FPS + reprojected, send to the HMD, and HMD renders locally at native speed hands/weapons/UI, so you don't notice reprojection?

>>419719856
just come home gamer man
>>419702567
I had a brand new PSVR 2 in the box and decided to just return the thing. I heard issues with the controllers, noticeable reprojection, mura, the very small sweet spot, and chromatic aberration. I just didn't want to bother with that shit when I already have a Quest 2 with only slight godray.
PSVR2 apparently has bright as fuck peak brightness. I think this is the brightest consumer HMD we've ever had? Even the original HTC Vive was something around 210~.
>>419721385
speaking about brightness, what even is the point of the brightness setting on the quest 2?
the range is really small
>>419666898
I would be down to play After the Fall. I'm in PST though. Getting a random pub group is a struggle.
>>419721385
Modern panel + Fresnel lenses checks out. They market it as HDR too, although I have no idea who is supposed to be certifying that.
>>419707849
What is the point of eye tracking at all on PC? I can't think of a single game other than maybe VRChat that you can use eye tracking with.
>>419728920
Dynamic Foveated Rendering via things like the OpenXR toolkit. Handful of games work with that.
>>419728920
Well it's not like we have a lot of hardware to take advantage of it, now, do we?

Which is why I'm wondering what the point of getting a Qpro for eye tracking is.

I just want to finish it already, sick of enemy AI and game spawning shit on load/if you stay at same point long enough
Light Brigade is pretty fun, despite my seething hate for WW2 guns. It probably won't take me too long to finish it, I got to the sewers on the my first run, could've maybe went further but suicided to get back to home base. The whole tarot card mechanic is somewhat underwhelming, I expected more whacky stuff.
>>419740752
On wireless the upscaling artifacts are barely noticeable compared to the compression artifacts, at that point I'd rather take the performance improvement of having almost no reprojection.
>>419747621
>Light Brigade is pretty fun, despite my seething hate for WW2 guns.
Is it? Felt really uninspired. The hub area and NPC's are so fucking lame, everything looks like it came straight from asset store. So many invisible walls, and you cannot even touch the crows, no collision, hands just phase through them.
Don't they fucking know how important those little things are. You have one hub area, how hard it is to put some effort in. 0 fucking talent.

Yeah I got bored of ItR, I think I only have a few missions left but the enemies are so annoying and I got super pissed off by bugged anomalies.

You can get the code/modifications for the GPL parts according to the terms of the license but not the actual important secret sauce stuff.
But GPL also stipulates that you have to let people swap out their own versions of whatever GPL licensed libraries they're using. Maybe that makes it a bit easier to reverse-engineer but that's pure speculation on my part.

It also seems way too easy. I won on my first run which seems like it goes against the whole point of these games.
Played the Song in the Smoke demo which runs at a native 90hz and holy shit does it feel great I'd say I even felt spoiled. I never realized how much reprojection hampered the experience but with this I felt a genuine upgrade over my Quest 2. Really hoping this makes its way over to pc.

>Why would it need to run Linux on the headset itself though?
It seems like the headset's chipset takes care of stuff like not just tracking but also eye tracking, rumble, and 3D audio when using the headphone jack. I doubt it takes care of any graphics processing, but it does pretty much everything else. They probably made the firmware linux-based to save on development costs.

I just got the PSVR2 and I'm having a really hard time setting it up. No matter how much I tinker it still feels blurry but more importantly I can clearly see the borders of the headset and it feels like I'm looking down a fucking tube but I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've had an Oculus Rift in the past and it was fucking amazing and I never had any of these issues so I really don't understand what I'm missing here. Any ideas? From my memory the Rift was pretty plug-and-play once you set up the sensors etc. and it didn't really require any adjusting of the headset itself.
>>419812731
I'm the single digit.
>>419816085
It has a small sweet spot
>>419816085
Kind of sounds like what happens if you don't manage to find the sweet spot on other headsets. I've never used PSVR2 but Fresnel lenses are going to have a pretty small eyebox and you need to be lined up exactly with the right IPD to get a good image. I think it also has a dial to move the display closer to you which increases FOV.
Maybe check the manual for how the headstrap works because it's bizarrely nontrivial to put headsets on correctly. For example most people I've talked to who've used the Index took a long time to figure out how you're actually supposed to wear it.
>>419816085
Make sure the headset is set to be as close to your face as possible. Beyond that PSVR2 has a eye tracked visual to show when you've got the lenses properly spaced apart, it should make it even easier to correctly adjust the IPD than other headsets.
>>419816937
>>419817151
>>419817706
I've done the setup a bunch of times and have tried reseating the headset over and over again but I can't seem to get it right. It's as if it's not possible to get it close enough. Granted it was a couple of years ago since I had the Rift but I remember it as super immersive without any kind of tunnel effect.
>>419812089
It has terribly mediocre game design. At the top of nearly every climbing path are the same convenient rock and branch to pull yourself up. I hate when devs of linear games lazily recycle assets like that--it's even worse in VR, when thorough immersion should be a commitment. HL Alyx has some repetitive aspects too (mostly the hacking puzzles), but at least that felt like a proper adventure.
>>419818735
A chest that I should clearly be able to approach by just walking around the recycled wooden plank obstacle, but of course there's an invisible wall, so I have to destroy the planks.
>>419819179
And yeah, I know it's a console game but the blurriness is absurd.
>>419819418
Do you actually notice the blurriness in the headset? I thought that was just the foveated rendering making the screen view look shitty.
>>419818485
Did you play with the dial that moves the display closer/further?
>>419819418
>but the blurriness is absurd.
OH NO THE JAGGIEZ I'M GOING INSANE SAVE ME SONYXIRS
>>419819869
You can see it on the screenshot. Just compare it to PCVR screenshots.
>>419820017
Yeah but PC VR doesn't do foveated rendering. Although if that were what was happening, I also can't see anywhere in the screenshot that isn't blurry.
>>419820193
>Yeah but PC VR doesn't do foveated rendering.
I doubt it just grabs the rendered frame and saves it as screenshot.
It would make more sense to rerender at full scale. Hmmm, or not.
>I also can't see anywhere in the screenshot that isn't blurry.
Exactly. Don't see it either.
>>419819869
You get used to it while playing, but there's still a blurriness in the headset. I don't know if it's a mix of the low resolution and also the post-processing effects. Haven't been distracted by blur in RE8 so far
>>419812089
Do people not realize it's purely a tech demo? Other headsets don't have HDR and haptics, so it would be worthless.
>>419822820

Go watch the gameplay of psvr2 version, they actually did a half decent job.
>>419824076
>Is the VR mod for the RE games really that hard to run?
It seems pretty intense. People with roughly 1080 TI performance seem to struggle to reach playable framerates without big cutbacks. Smooth on 4090 at least so you can just throw more hardware at the problem.
>>419824076
It's more about how well it plays. The port has really good haptics, dual wielding, and manual reloads both of which the pc mod will never get. You can also throw the knife a good 20 feet and kill some shit without sparing any ammo and health(if you're actually patient enough). I still wish Capcom would patch in a 90hz performance mode.
>>419824581
>Smooth on 4090 at least
Everything should be smooth on a 4090, the fact we already have games that a 4090 can't run maxed out is terrifying

It's fucking over. No wonder people say the thing doesn't look that sharp. It has a diffusion layer to help with SDE, at the cost of some extra softness, and the effective resolution is much lower than you'd expect with the subpixel layout.

No, because you're in the wrong general,. Read the op, and then leave.
>>420090210 (Cross-thread)
can we at least get to bump limit?
>>420127929
maybe when tabor releases and we can get some content
>>419839627
what, did anton not want to code mp? did he say its 100% impossible
>>420133371
he probably doesn't know how and can't be bothered to do so
you have to remember anton is a gun nerd first and foremost and not a programmer/gamedev
>>420117430
but the mods deleted that general.
>>420135296
why did it get deleted
are we finally free
hey nerds wheres my VRChat thread?
>>420135621
oh it got deleted because of the rentry links in the OP with every other general's name appended to them
>>420135657
oh bummer, Guess I'll just wait here. Any new VRFPS games coming out soon worth looking into ?
/vrgg/ chads finally won...
>>420135736
Vertigo 2 and Into The Darkness VR
>>420135530
Probably because of all the other general's name in the OP that the troll placed in
>>420135801
what happened
>>420137210
>>420135657
>>420135530
>why did it get deleted
This was their OP
https://arch.b4k.co/vg/thread/420090210/#420090210
>>420140813

They killed it again...
>>420143609

trannies BTFO

I'm confused. I want to talk about VR video games. Like webm related for example. Did someone troll with the threads or what?
Don't forget, Assetto Corsa today at 19:00 UTC, 20:00 CET, that's 5.5 hours from now.

God I hope Geronimo doesn't end up being a pile of shit.
>>420144480
Is this Swat VR in development?
>>420144370
>BTCC is the best
>I wont be able to join
But of course.
>>420144368
Actually you're in the correct thread for that
>>420144686
Yeah, inspired by Swat and Ready or Not, hoping this ends up being decent
>>420144686
Seems to be more military and counter-terrorist focused.
PvE and Co-Op rather than PvP for once.
>>420145304
I was hoping for something like this.
>>420145304
Man this is what I wanted from Breach It. at least it seems to be happening now.
Better have FBT doorkicking so I can break my wall.
>>420155085
Official response on Vive tracker support.
>>420156758
Finally, leaning without moving your whole body AND kicking the bodies?
>>420156758
Are they gonna enforce shitty 4 player at most limit most coop games have?
>>420157340
Breachers somehow got leaning working pretty well without any kind of bodytracking.
>>419181708
>anime ass on /v/ and logposting on /b/
Confirmed /v/, and /b/ user. No wonder you're retarded.
>>420145304
Problem with PvE focus is that all smaller developers stumble on enemy AI. I wonder if games like this would be better if they settled for simpler and perfectly predictable AI and constructed every room like a puzzle instead.
>>420177343
this game will have procedurally generated rooms
so hopefully they did a good job at that to make it interesting for a while
>>420177414
that just makes ai development even harder
>>420177343
having mostly scripted interior ai like the cqc levels in cod would probably be a good idea. come to think of it, perhaps the furniture layout and ai behaviour could be scripted but randomised
>>420178165
I'm thinking back to how Metal Gear Solid 2 (and Twin Snakes) scripted and animated exactly how guards would clear rooms.
Lets try this parallax terrain mod (clueless)
>>420178651
you wont ever want to go backunless you forgot to enable parallax in the ini
>>420177343
They have the AI shooting through doors apparently so at least that shows more interest in developing the AI than most indie VR devs.
I've demo'd and tested too many games where they were showing off assets and adding new mechanics while the AI barely even existed.
>>420182752
it doesn't work at all!
is having parallax on the ground even supported in skyrim vr
>>420199980
you have engine fixes installed and the skyrimpref.ini configured?
>>420207379
it werks on meshes but not on terrain
the enb dev said that he's working on terrain parallax for vr http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=97299#p97299
Reverb G2 at target for 299 right now fyi

>>420135881
Into the Darkness had a terrible demo IIRC.
>>420213457
If only it wasn't fucking WMR.
>game makes big talk about how much it cares about its physics
>hit enemy with melee weapon
>they stand there and tank it like a statue
Besides LotD, what are the best quest mods for Skyrim that also work in VR?
buvrmp
guys...

All of the big content mods. Bruma and Enderal are lotsa fun. It's better to list stuff that doesn't work in VR due to address library requirements and the likeO-Stim ;_;
