As you probably haven't heard, I will try to run a full marathon inside of VR using MANUAL REDIRECTED WALKING(summertime). A few things need to be done before that. THRUSDAY(tomorrow) AT 3pm EDT I'll try to run about 5 miles or about 8.04672 km. The goal is to find out what I need to work on for the full marathon, the average speed, how do i record it, is it even possible ect. I will be using my extended playspace in my moms basement. Neos is not a VRC clone, it's a janky VR sandbox.
It's more like a VR version of Second Life. Including the duality of having near-infinite freedom, but lacking certain basics like custom shaders or a proper editor. It's certainly an interesting experience for a few hours before you drop it forever. Not a replacement for VRC at all, but it will probably scratch the social itch for you while also giving people something to do and play around with.

In a bubble, removed from price, what games are available, etc. I'd say the Vive XR Elite is my favorite, of this batch. While Viveport's offerings pale in comparison to the offerings on Quest, I'm primarily a PC VR user anyway so, with Vive's PC VR streaming, that aspect doesn't really affect me all that much.

In terms of features, I WOULD love the Quest Pro with its face tracking and eye tracking, but it's just not comfortable for extended play sessions.

How should I go about turning gamerip outfits from being in a-pose to t-pose? Can I 'freeze' the rip after posing it using the armature that it comes with? Whenever I do that and then delete the armature it resets and having to manually edit the vertices sounds like a pain

Starting this I had a bit of a built up period to get used to the new playspace. I was actually scared of running at this speed because I've really only used it for walking. Took me a few laps to get the confidence to go faster. Even then I didnt get to my fastest until about half way. I did a slot pattern across the whole space. The limiting factor in the speed are, not surprisingly, the turns. The radius of turn is too small to go any faster than about 3.5mph. If I go to faster the stress in my legs and feet gets to high. It really felt like i was taking half steps because of the speed. I'm not sure how much longer I could have gone for before my ankles gave or something. I would really like to be able to see my feet. The FOV in the vive pro is okay but not enough to be able to see where my feet will strike. And theres no way I could look down with the weight of the brick on my head while running for that long. I did have a few technical issues. I forgot to charge a tracker so I was wearing another battery for a bit. I started a bit late so i had to change the main battery on the headset. Tracking was pretty bad. I was stretching what can be done with 2x 2.0 basestations. Half of the playspace is carpet and exercise mat the other half is just the concrete floor. In the middle theres the lip of the carpet where i almost tripped about 7 times. I only became slightly dizzy after all the turning. No nausea. Legs are maybe a bit more sore than usual. I seem to have come to the same conclusion I did when I tried this awhile ago. Dont recommend it unless you are crazy. I think i'll need about double the playspace again if i want to try an actual marathon. I'll probably post more thoughts later as I think i forgot some.

Hi everyone,

Remade my 4chan browser prefab pretty much from scratch. The previous version used unity UIElements to draw posts, but that approach caused a pretty massive performance hit. The new version instead generates a procedural mesh with the post formatting + images, which ends up being faster by several orders of magnitude. I'm still polishing the formatting; there are some weird discrepancies in mesh positioning between Unity and actual in-game VRC. There are a few more things I'd want to flesh out before I'd really consider it feature-complete, but it more or less functions.

Also I made a little startup animation and stuck the whole thing into a computer in my home world, so I can read shitty /vrg/ posts with full immersion in VR. Pic related.

One more thing. This clearly showed that the quality of tracking is still not enough at least for this activity. Granted i was pushing it with only 2 basestations. Even with good tracking, on very high accelerations, there bumping and drifting. Same goes for the hip tracker. side note it was slipping all over the place because its just mounted to a belt and not looped through pants. Perhaps someone can make a hybrid solution with 6 point and horitora/ slimevr.
