Reliable inside sources have informed me that deckard will be announced 6 days after meta connect

And here I thought we’d get through CB incident free.
>>447147838
what's CB
>>447144764
Yes but it's not multiplayer right? Is there a multi-player mod for it?
>>447151801
Doesn't Portal 2 support multiplayer normally? Has anyone actually tested whether the VR mod allows you to play multiplayer too? The mod is technically based on the unfinished L4D2 VR mod so I can't imagine it not working at all.
Of course there would be no IK and your partner would look like they're desktopping but I think it might work regardless.

A quick google suggests that the co-op is not yet supported by the mod

Apparently, BeamNG has VR now.
Anyone bitten the bullet yet? I'm curious about performance / system requirements, looks like a pretty heavy game though I guess CPU handles most of the physics stuff.

This Friday, September 22nd, the /vrg/ soccer team will go up against /fgog/ (Fate/Grand Order General) in our second soccer friendly. The game will happen live @ 19:40 UTC/3:40pm EST and then be shown in VR at 11:30pm EST Friday night.
Two days later on Sunday, September 24th, /vrg/ will go up against /twg/ (Total War General). The game will happen live @ 21:40 UTC/5:40pm EST, and then we will probably show that game NEXT NEXT friday (so September 29th) @ 11:30pm EST in VR.
Since last weekend's performance was so terrible by pretty much every star player all around, you guys voted for some changes to the team for the next two games.
>Unity-chan, 30 Yr Old VR Boomer, and The Chad Full Body User have been demoted to defenders
>Zuckerberg, Valve Deckard in 2 Weeks, and Bigscreen Bros have been promoted to strikers.

uuoooohhhh karin orgy
My Rift CV1 cable broke, should i buy Pico 4 or wait for Quest 3?
>>447164823
Just get a Quest 2 if you're okay with a bit of visual quality degradation (but you do get wireless!), or if you want a straight upgrade to the CV1 get a Valve Index.
>>447164823
Also out of those options, the Pico 4 is a better choice if you don't care about the Oculus Store and Oculus Quest exclusive games. If you plan to replay the Oculus store games you have on your CV1 your only options are a Quest 2 or a Quest 3, but the 3 is shaping up to not be much of an upgrade compared to the Q2.
>>447165121
I heard that pancake lenses are way better than what Quest 2 has and the diffirence is about 30$ between eachother.
>>447165121
Buying an index is the dumbest decision that you can make rn, if you're going to drop 1k, go for vive pro 2 or get a Pico/Quest pro for the eye tracking and foveated rendering
>>447165371
It's not the dumbest decision since it will still be a good headset next week; but yeah it's anti-timing considering new headsets are 2 weeks away
>>447165313
Yeah the lenses are a lot better. The Pico 4 also has pancake lenses.
I didn't know the Quest 3 was going to be that close to the Quest 2 in price, in that case just buy a Pico 4 now.
Unless you want the Oculus exclusives, in that case wait for the Quest 3.
>>447165371
You could wait for the Meta Connect stuff and see if something interesting comes from that, but if it's a nothingburger then the Index is a perfectly good option. Good tracking, no wireless video streaming and the controllers have finger tracking which is actually relevant in some games.
>>447165475
There is multiple decision rn of a headset better than the index, im only talking headset not controller and basestations, but that you can get in other combos and the index controller can be bough separately later
>>447165371
The problem with the vive pro 2 is that wands are a 2017 invention with all the issues that come with that, and the mic isn't great. If you have that much money you could just buy a Vive Pro 2 and index controllers I guess.
Main index downsides are: limited cable life (1-2 years), dated screen and lenses. Thumbstick problems are typically a thing of the past now with new controllers.
Upsides: Lighthouses, good controllers, great FOV, great audio, decent comfort, great compatibility, easy to use, visuals still look decent as it's direct PCVR
>>447165730
Buying an index kit rn is like buying a gaming laptop, easy but going to suck later, a vive pro 2 you can upgrade the controllers later, get wireless adaptor and the headset itself is miles better than the index
>>447165996
Yeah those are fair points. I keep forgetting the Vive Pro 2 exists. In my head I subconsciously dismiss it because the first Vive Pro was a lot of money for not a lot of return.
Looking at the specs it's probably one of the best headsets you can buy right now, but I fear they might pull the plug on it in a year.
>>447165795
Literally all upsides of the index you said a pro 2 have beside the controllers, and it has more FOV and Resolution, not gonna talk about the mic because I barely use the microphone of the pro 2 but if you are a vrchat fag I guess go for the facetracking ones then
>>447166167
>I keep forgetting the Vive Pro 2 exists

>>447165996

by all means, buy the aero fag so i can laugh at you when you rope from buyer's remorse
>>447172162
It's probably useable with the index controllers like all headsets. There's no reason for the HMD itself to be lighthouse tracked. Also lighthouses are a dead end, computer vision gets better and better and you guys will still be sobbing over the lighthouses when we have hand and body tracking with just cameras

>>447172291
EyetrackVR is too immature to be viable. Dont ask me how i know that
>>447173168
Then don't defend Aero. I never said Index was good anyway. Aero is just so shit that it can't even beat Index. You shouldn't trust any of those idiots that shilled Aero, they're not representative of the typical user.
>>447173293
I don't have to ask. I know anything homemade is not going to cut it
>>447173465
don't believe that fag, you can't use it for foveated rendering but for vrchat eyetracking it works 100% without any issues
i know because i am using it
>>447173465
Slimes are decent.
>>447173596
>>447173628
Is it good enough to use as a cursor quickly? As well as foveating rendering I'd want eye tracking for productivity. I don't want it to bring my inner anime girl to life or some fag shit
>>447173596
You have to recalibrate them everytime you shift HMD position on your head, its inacurate, constant issues with uneven ir lighting, absolute mess to setup if you use lens inserts, separate eyelid openess is janky as fuck and the form factor makes the headset front heavy as fuck.

come again? your what?
hello friends, im not sure if this is the right forum for technical discussion but i wanted to raise this to my fellow vrchat players who have tracking issues with FBT.
i have 11 point tracking, spread across 3 hubs. i constantly had problems with one tracking drifting or "lagging" behind the others. i download this tool
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/usbview
and see i have 3 USB controller, but 2 of them have ports dedicated to things outside of my control (Asus Aura and my wifi/bluetooth chip...)
for whatever reason, whichever hub was plugged into a port that was tied to the controller that the Asus Aura was using, was always the one with problems. it was something confusing to figure out which one was tied to which, the front panel is easy but on the back of the mobo it seems to randomly separate the ports and controllers....but after i moved them off these ports, i had no problems any longer.
maybe this helps someone who has similar problems...
i would upload a picture but 4chan says uploading images is blocked from my IP range (i guess starlink is blocked?)
>>447182713
Upload it to catbox
>>447182713
Hello and welcome to 4chan VR community forum!
If you're certain your issues are related to bandwidth (which would be surprising, given how little data Lighthouse devices need to communicate), one option would be buying a PCIe USB card. This will give you more hubs to work with. Given your claim that Aura is causing problems, removing Aura drivers could prevent it from communicating through port and interfering with puck receivers, though that's a very general guess, low-level USB issues are always hard to figure out.
Please find attached an anime girl.
Regards,
Garry

>>447172350
>friday
I'm most likely not coming, if you pick literally any other day of the week then I will.
>>447184201
thanks for the welcoming, and i agree that it seems strange to be a bandwidth problem given how large bandwidth can be for each controller. but i think asus aura is a problem for more than one reason, it is known to cause pink spikes in steam VR graphs and "grey screens"
i have a pcie usb card with per-lane-controllers on order, before i tried this debugging tool. i live on a coastal island and it takes 2-3 weeks for importing though, so i will still end up with it because returning is too complex. so i will try both and compare later
i think also i should say that i did research into usb 3.0 technology and found that that the 2.5ghz it is using may be causing interference it is so close to the 2.4ghz used by the tracking. so i think people using multiple hubs should make sure they are powered usb 2.0 hubs, because each additional usb 3.0 hub will increase interference.

Alright motherfuckers it is that time of the week again. The gungirl fun has past, and it looks like we have some kind of pokemon event on the horizon. Hopefully anon post more about that this thread. Aside from that we have Halloween looming around the corner, we will be in the spooky times soon, so it is best to get started on your avatar now, least think about what you want to create for it.
Ghost of Tabor got its night update a while ago and it seems worth it to play it over phasmo right now. Leave the spooky game for the spooky month, so Friday 7pm PST 10pm ESt Ghost of Tabor, BE READY.
Dm *or reply* to the shop man if you want to help grow, know what warps the wood, but struggle to warn how to keep it straight.
i dont trust camera only FBT solutions...my qpro controllers are not good...i thought they would be great but they have noticeably slower reactions than my index knuckles
i use 4 basestations and i find it very hard to get occluded...the only downside of basestations for me is that you cant move rooms.,.but with wired headset this doesnt really matter.

Saturday sounds good.

That's how it is at first. Just play now and then and you'll get used to it.
Don't push yourself past your limits so your brain doesn't associate VR with being sick. Just slowly get used to it.
>>447184991
On Vive pro 2 I had to downsample severely to make it run at all, it would just eat all the 12 gigabytes of ram otherwise.
It seems to be running ok on low/med settings, multiplayer mod just works. But I keep getting bug where it just stops rendering the game.
>>447190380
Ok, so just loaded "italy" map and immediately died due to lack of vram. 3080 be damned.
>>447190176
maybe try different locomotion options?
VRChat have a bunch of options to help with motion sickness, even tho after some time you will be using analog turning and disable teleports like most players
Trying creator companion out, they made it so you don't have to enter play mode, but it spends a lot of time hanging on the upload time.

Thanks for the advice, I was definitely pushing it the past few days so I'll make sure to never do that again. I'll take a break for a few days and then try the motion sickness options next time.
>>447191358
depends, sometimes it's very easy (or already actually optimised if you're lucky), sometimes you're going to have to make some drastic edits or just give up
>>447191358
Easily. I've never had a single one go over medium. Just need to learn a little bit of Blender
>>447191358
Yes. They're typically already there polygon count and material number wise, with the only problem being they have each element as a seperate mesh or skinned mesh. d4rk's is good enough to solve this issue, and the only thing you manually might need to do is trim physbones down to the right number. Getting down to medium is pretty trivial, and making a version that's good isn't that hard if you're willing to limit yourself to few or no toggles.
>>447192617
so it's the toggles/different clothing options that make it very poor? whats' the right way to delete all that shit to optimize? my current avatar has like 400 toggles
>>447191358
Take her into blender and have your way with her. I use Kikyo and my avatar is always good.

>>447192267
I'M PICKLE RICK XDDD
who fucked up twice in a row on this shit
>>447193164
Each set of clothing/hair/etc is polygons and textures that count against you but aren't being used. Pick an outfit that you like enough for it to be your "main" outfit, and make a copy of your avatar that only has that as the basis for your good avatar. Otherwise, just split your outfits up across multiple uploads; having 3 *different* avatars that are the same base with different outfits or toggles is far better then having 1 avatar with 12 outfits worth of shit hanging off of you that isn't being used. There ranking system has a massive lack of granularity at the bad end, but there's Very Poor but not actually that bad where you're a reasonable amount of VRAM and just have a couple of extra physbones/polygons/etc with multiple outfits vs Very Poor and eating up 1.5gigs of VRAM while singhandidly destroying everyone's frame rate.
>>447190702
Ok, I got it, MP mod and non MP mod are recognised as seperate games, so I needed setup resolution scaling for both, I got it to run at low settings (it doesn't really look good). But runs well (at 11 gigs of vram at 2500 x 2500 with 6 cars in the world)
But then I repeatedly get random error where it just stops rendering and then I hear a crash noise. So the physics are running.
Refunding for now.

People seemed to like Demeo when it was hosted here.
I Expect You To Die 2 is good, but it's just more of what was there in the first game.
After The Fall is fun if you have people to play with, pub games suck.
Zero Caliber was decent enough for a single coop run.
The only friend I know that played through that Rick and Morty game said it was mediocre, and he was a pretty big fan of the show at the time.

whats the proper etiquette for setting up a "base" avatar for putting outfits on? do I just strip and delete all the clothing, their bones, all toggles etc? not sure how the avatar assembler stuff works
>>447221020
sis you are so valid
>>447221439
There is no etiquette, people run around with 400k tris, 37 different meshes, and 18 lights and act like you're a psycho when you hide their avatars. (I hide their avatars)
If you do want to optimize (be better than everyone), one outfit per avatar is probably the best way to do it.
>>447175968
Assetto Corsa starting now, server details are in the previous post if you're interested.
>>447221828
Yeah, I want to do one outfit per avatar, but im not sure what i should do for the "base" to make it easiest to assemble avatars without a bunch of extra useless junk. do I just remove all clothes, bones, toggles related to clothes? anything else?
>>447216140
what the fuck is that thing on the right
>>447222104
The basic is to remove it if you're not using it and if you already have it on another avatar. That being said, 1 outfit per avatar, while optimal, isn't a hard rule since sometimes you have a couple that you can mix and match from. I think a good rule of thumb is no more then 3 outfits. Also, make a separate one with your dick/vagina/whatever else DPS stuff you want, since they're both heavy rendering wise and make it so that you can accidentally flash when you're not intending to.
Don't forget to add PCSS to all your avatars for max optimization

The best part of PCVR is getting used to janky mods anyways. Meanwhile you can play games like Assetto Corsa and Doom 2 in VR and never run out of stuff to do as long as you aren't a zoomer who shits and cries at the thought of modding a game.

I don't auto-block people for being Very Poor because that also affects people who are slightly over the polycount.
But if you're Very Poor ranked because of too many materials or meshes, you better believe you're getting hidden forever. Instead of complaining maybe optimize your avatar.
>>447262905
Okay, that takes care of the first scenario. What about the second?
>>447263075
Second scenario, Unity dies and VRC will not receive further Unity updates. VRC will probably stay around for a couple more years while the devs try to work around bugs and issues in the engine, or maybe they will somehow obtain the Unity source code and start making their own changes.
Either way if they plan on staying in business they better be working on making a "VRChat 2" in another engine.

Sooo, they reduced the Varjo price I think? They have a "discount" for two base stations and I guess I could get Valve controllers for 300? Or maybe some other controllers? Total 2k if I want this. God I wish I bought an Index kit back in the day. I'd have the base stations and controlelrs already. That's assuming I want to buy this in the first place though. What's the catch here? Why did they lower the price? They must know something. Maybe they know something is releasing soon and they wont be able to complete? Index 2 next week???
>>447276159
>Why did they lower the price?
Bigscreen Beyond, Pimax Crystal, Immersed Visor, ...
>>447276159
Yeah the Varjo Aero is actually affordable now, they permanently reduced the price to $990.
It has a VERY good resolution, native eye tracking and uses lighthouse tracking.
The catch? The horizontal fov is quite a bit worse than the index, and the vertical fov is A LOT worse. I think the vertical fov is 76 degrees, vs. the index which has about 106. Horizontal fov is a little over 84 (vs. the index with 106), but the fov is kinda dependent on the face gaskets you use. Even with no face pads at all the Varjo Aero only gets up to like 98 degrees horizontal.
>>447277580
Wait that's like the G2 fov then and not a worthy upgrade?

All trash.
>>447276159
>trying to offload stock before deckard drops

It's an upgrade from the Index if you don't mind the decreased fov.
Also, it doesn't come with headphones or a mic. The headphones isn't too bad if it has a port, but the mic means you need a modmic.
So yeah, yet again another headset that is not a straight upgrade to the 4 year old Valve Index. I would skip this one unless you REALLY want eye tracking and don't want to get a Pico 4 Pro or Quest Pro.
>>447247858
>HX1500i

>>447279156
Then don't get a Varjo Aero. I'm not getting one either for the same reasons.
I will not compromise on headsets, I want something that is a straight upgrade to the Index. But I guess it is an interesting alternative for people who have money to burn and really need eye tracking.
What's the best and cheapest 2 base stations + 2 controllers combo? Valve? HTC? Something else? A combination of two different things?
>>447279896
There isn't so much a 'cheapest' combo as only being one combo. Only HTC manufacturers base stations (now) and the index controllers are the only lighthouse tracked controllers worth a damn.
>>447279952

This means the REFramework VR mod will probably work with it, but the problem is that by default this mod is only a 3D view and you still play the game the same way you do flat.
They added actual VR with motion controls to Resident Evil Village, but Dragon's Dogma 2, much like Monster Hunter Rise and other third-person REFramework games, will probably not get them.

>>447284457

Valve hates zucc because he poached talent from valve before he bought oculus. Also the employees he poached did a switcheroo and got valve to give all their secrets to oculus for free before they left. Top 10 anime betrayals, etc.
The index was announced the same day as meta's F8, and I've heard valve has done some other things on the day of zucc events but I can't remember anything specific other than the index
So in this situation is looked like CS2 wrapped up before meta connect and they placed it on the day out of spite. I'm just hoping they have more. There's evidence deckard is approaching, and presumably deckard would have some launch or near-launch title to go with it.
There's no evidence for CS2 VR other than it makes a lot of business sense and provide the most support for PCVR with the least effort.

>>447286229
I like Tabor. I expect CSVR would be shit though.
>hold trigger to plant/defuse
>gun hand
>weapon menu
>run faster with knife
>cone fire
>crosshair
I can't see them even doing it because even with all that shit it would still deviate from CS far too much.
>>447286682
I think he's talking about Ghosts of Tabor ; A tarkov clone in VR. It's fine but it's not going in a good direction. Shit they're adding is making it worse and they're not fixing core problems.
>>447286682
Ghosts of Tabor. If you ask about it here, you'll just get doomposting because no-one is capable of liking anything beyond the honeymoon period of two weeks before they consume the next fotm.
>>447286561
They need to stop thinking about the game being playable by everyone and think about the people who aren't playing VR at all because there's no fucking games.
Also I hope they realize CS is actually in a position to be played by people who get motion sick. CS rounds are only 2 minutes if you survive the whole thing. And they can keep the game lengths short so sicklets can retire before anything bad happens. Just make it a game you play once a day for those types of people.

I have better things to be doing than wasting time grinding gear in an exfiltration shooter when my gear all disappears to crashes.
>>447287530
Why didnt valve just make it where for longer weapons your trigger hand points it just like the short ones and your other hand just sticks on for support and has no authority where the weapon is pointed? In alyx when I used the sub gun I put my hands together just to make it feel natural
>valve
>a vr mini game

>>447287751
I think valve are allergic to players having to learn a new skill to play a VR game. Or learn a new skill to play a game in general; they're big on tutorials and gameplay-teaching.

Right but you have to separate yourself from what makes sense for valve to do
Plenty of people prefer boneworks to alyx. There are other FPS games than CS, like, a lot of them, and some people won't touch flat CS.
There's a point in CS VR existing because it would be an entry-level game in a time where VR adoption is still low and it would be extremely polished with no jank. It doesn't matter if there's a better game out there right now.

Counter strafe is 10 hours of practice skill unironically, lineups are mostly worthless because maps change so much (at least were changing, I stopped playing in 2018, was always global elite starting back from operation bravo).

>>447291761
I think the main problem CS players in /vrg/ had with Pavlov was 'the timings are wrong'.
>>447286229
>>447286704
On the other hand, the only way Valve can't see the data on Pavlov and S&D is if they look away.
CS VR is probably not happening anyway, but a man can hope.
>>447286338
That makes sense, ty.
>>447292659
Netcode, and the latest patch wich made it more like CS with faction weapons.
>>447292659
that's for the maps generally, not hard to fix. In pavlov players are just moving slower so any ported map is going to have all the timings fucked. It's not too noticable at the kinda typical vrg lobby level since there's barely any coordination anyway, but in some maps the rotation time is so long if the bomb goes down there's not enough time to reach the bomb site.
Why Valve will announce CS VR:
Dedicating a large team to a single player game that lasts a dozen hours and is rarely replayed makes far less sense than making a multiplayer game where people can accumulate days of game time and will regularly use their headsets. PCVR still needs a AAA multiplayer game.
CS is by far the most actively played game on steam.
CS2 is releasing and the existing player base will be at their most satisfied point, so you can reveal resources have been spent on something else without making them angry.
With CS2, CS just got ported to the VR-capable source 2 engine and most of its assets like models, animations, sounds, music, levels, etc have been remade and more work is ongoing. These assets could be used for CS VR with the bulk of production work already finished, and they were probably made with VR use in mind.
Gameplay is roughly suited for simulation sickness because CS is a tactical(lol) shooter where movement speeds are expected to be slow with lots of pausing, or you die quickly in a rush. Rounds are short, and players take imposed breaks when they die. Game length may need to be trimmed but currently casual games trend around 20 minutes.
VR would increase the value of skins because weapons can be held and inspected in-hand. Even players who don't play the VR version benefit. Skins would carry over from flat CS.
CS VR would be free to play because it would be monetized with skins, with prime status carrying over. This is extremely important because no one can be disatisfied with a purchase, especially those most vulnerable to simulation sickness. There is no foul if CS VR fails to attract hardware purchases and is ultimately a failure.
>>447292857
Even if they copied Pavlov, they'd likely still make mistakes that aren't obvious to anyone that hasn't played a lot of VRFPS. I think they're too arrogant to even do that. Smooth locomotion barely made it in to Alyx because they were so convinced that they were right and every other game after 2016 is wrong.
>>447293821
>they'd likely still make mistakes that aren't obvious to anyone that hasn't played a lot of VRFPS
Like?
>>447293430
Counter point: CS2's mechanics are fundamentally not cross compatible between desktop and VR so they'd essentially be making a different game.

Another one is the assumption that people can't play for more than 20 minutes.
or whatever the fuck they were thinking when making alyx combat
>>447294018
They already made a VR shooter. Proper locomotion and player models, then add cs2 assets, polish for 15 minutes. CSVR is cooked.
>>447294325

Stick movement unironically sucks. It's just too imprecise.
Artificial locomotion is needed, but it has to be something different from "Push stick forward to move". That would be the hardest challenge for CSVR.

>>447295216
>What alternative is there to stick movement that doesn't have huge flaws?
Every else sucks too.
Something completely unique is needed. I dunno, maybe use both sticks for movement, with stick on left and right controller controlling each leg, you would need to alternate sticks to move, but you would be able to control movement precisely because you would be able to learn how much distance you will travel for each stick movement.
But you would have to give away rotation (turn) too, so roomspacelets and cablets will get angry too. You can cope by moving it to some chord hotkey, I guess.
But it needs to be tested, don't know how it would feel in game.

Why
Why
99.9% of games don't have pixel perfect stoping/strafing/peaking and people play them. CS VR would never be flat CS. They would be different games that share concepts. Some people will like one or the other. Some people would like both. If you're trying to emulate specific mechanics just play CS2.
>>447297397
I mean, it was a nice idea. And they can play music!
>>447297408
Gliding move-stick-forward-to-move locomotion has to fucking go. It sucks. It's lame.
>>447297686
I think you're the first person I've ever seen to complain about this. I have seen the opposite complaint that it's too easy to 'jiggle peek' though, which is rapidly changing direction.
>>447297686
An AI would answer why when asked instead of repeating itself.
Analog stick motion has been successful since just before the N64 and is the most ubiquitious control system used up until modern day. But it sucks because it just does!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX4qeqBekzE
People behind Ghost Giant and Lost in Random have a new studio and are making another game. It's for flat screens but will have VR support, so I'm concerned a bit about the gameplay, but I thought Ghost Giant was good and Lost in Random was great. Hopefully they bring back the writer of Lost in Random, because the story was excellent
>>447298085
Digital movement is really important in fighters and competitive FPS, but he's being a sperg with the idea that a VR game needs it. It would be like saying VR ping pong needs wsad movement. Yeah, it would be really precise. WHO CARES
>>447298085
If you try to do some high level csgo techniques like moving scoped-in with awp and instantly shooting with standing accuracy by timing direction change (bit distinct for counter strafe with rifle, where you tap the key, you have to hold it with awp), you will understand how limiting sticks are.
They are fine for imprecise shit, like jiggle, but suck anything else.
>>447298384
It self evident why gliding locomotion sucks, just watch any recording of vr gameplay. It's eye opening. Simply lame.
>>447298582
>but he's being a sperg with the idea that a VR game needs it
High level of control over your movement is a must if we want to have truly high skill games.
You can't have a proper fencing game for example without it.
Artificial locomotion is here to stay until we get cord-into-brain "fulldive" vr. The problem has to be solved eventually, it's stupid to just handwave and pretend it doesn't exist.
>>447299186
Have you played pavlov? You're not getting pixel perfect AWP accuracy.

>>447299667
>stutter stepping doesn't belong in VR. It's a flat game mechanic.
I don't disagree with you. My argument is that VR still needs precise control over the movement. The stick doesn't provide it currently.

VR has eyetracking, which is way better than your arm/hand/fingers will ever be with a mouse, motion tracked controller, or analog stick. Using anything but eye tracking is less precise. Why wouldn't eyetracked FPS be the ultimate FPS?

I don't understand how what you're talking about "fixes" this, whatever the problem is exactly. Like if I really wanted to, I could find a way to play alyx with WASD and have precise digital movement, with the "inprecision" of the analog stick totally removed. And what's better? I just don't understand what you are trying to say at all.
The only thing wrong with VR is you input a command to move, with the only thing being better is you actually moving your legs as you would in real life. Changing the minutaeu of how you input commands to do something that's not an analog stick and also not naturally walking and running seems to provide little to no value.

>I could find a way to play alyx with WASD and have precise digital movement
The game wasn't design around it.
I don't understand if you are just pretending, just to disagree for the sake of it, or actually don't understand how much precise movement extends the game design domain.
For example, when you swing your sword, you take a step. One swing, one step.
In real life you don't have to think how much distance you will cover with one step, after a while you naturally learn and start to understand it instinctively.
It doesn't matter how fast you move your leg, one step covers the same distance.
All forms of combat are about controlling space, even the grappling (though it's a bit different there).
Oh, maybe you don't get because you never did martial arts.
Hmm, here another analogy for you which you might be more familiar with, you know the meme in anime and manga where some samurai or a swordsman says things like "if he takes another step he is dead" referring to the "killrange". It's actually based on a real thing. After a while you understand completely how far your weapon will reach exactly.
Being able to control your position in space is very important. Centimeters can decide if you are dead or not.
>>447308983
there are apps that do convert it to vrchat OSC, they were made by the furry community though, historically only furries would buy such an expensive headset
>>447308983
VRC used to just support OSC eyetracking but now it has built in support for eyetracking for... I don't know exactly what it supports but OSC probably still witks.

>>447309875
Thanks anons. Once I find a good audio solution I'll pull the trigger on the Aero. Hopefully I can run a long cable for face tracking too.
>>447309865
Uh yeah? Was I supposed to ask an unrelated question? Yes, why don't we aim with eye tracking? If you know the answer then answer it.
It's like you're admiting that precision doesn't have infinite value, but instead of seeing the problem you're saying I'm "in bad faith". No wonder everyone treated you like shit in this thread

This is what the argument was all about.
And both speed and direction control is imprecise, especially on small sticks used in vr controllers.

If you want an answer to your retarded question, I will give it do you.
You have to point your gun at people to shoot them. We can't do it by only using our eyes.
But we can move with our legs, in real life. We kinda need to do it to move in space actually.
Can you imagine?
But if you want to aim with your eyes, you should try some other type of game, maybe a mechagame would work nicely with that. Not absolutely sure, still sounds a bit lame.

Basically 100% of assets in this game are reused, very Ubisoft of them lmao, they're reusing entire chunks of already released games here but with a new control scheme. I assume it's nowhere near open world, just level based. Look nice for a standalone though. Now where the fuck is the PC version

i have tights that jiggle with phys bones
and they're clipping now when i move because of it
what needs to be done
>>447353435
You shouldn't have done this in Unity. Not only is it bad for performance, it's impossible to have the same physbone settings on both the body and the clothes without a prefab designed to apply it to exactly that model. Do your Blender reps.
>>447353435
Shapekey to shrink the body part that should be hidden underneath the clothing would be my first thought.
>>447353435
Seems like the author of the outfit didn't bother with the extra boobs/thighs bones. So your only options are removing the PBs or going to Blender and try weight transfer.

Ironically enough we have something similar to it already in the form of FBF. Each room there was created by a different anon.
We can probably just re-use the workflow for prefabbing each room for that new event.
My only issue with a portal based event is that we can’t have the portals be friends+ yet or be directed to a specific instance. If someone can figure that out then we can have a proper event where the portals are properly linked woth each other instead of chucking everyone in different instances.
>>447350715
>world events always get stuck in development hell
Somehow or another it is one of those alluring things to do for people and want to organize it so I just stay and support from the sidelines since someone is already intending to build it.
Ex. Mansion, airport, street.

Here we go.
Open up Blender, buy some assets from Booth, rip some assets from games, whatever you want. It's time to get building.
The theme is winter and it can be anything winter themed, whether thats christmas, snow, hot chocolate, the concept of cold itself, whatever, it is up to you.
I will try to prepare some useful assets for future posts to make things easier for people and I will set up an email/discord for submitting worlds, or you can simply reply to these posts with your world ID
All skill levels are welcome, teach yourself something new if you're new to world building or maybe set yourself limits and challenge yourself if you already know what you're doing. There will be a hub world with portals so anyone can visit the worlds at any time but for the event itself the host will have pre-favourited the worlds so they can drop friends+ portals
More details will be provided in the near future but get building now

So valve's VR icon appeared again
I would dismiss it as a random throwaway icon but its shape is kind of specific and unusual for VR headsets.
1) There's some large feature in the top center when sensors are usually placed at the bottom of the face.
2) It has a pronounced nose cut-out, which no VR headset really has unless its some crazy trade show design

wish granted
>>447374214
Anon, that's just the old VR icon except with a screen behind it. The gap is between the top of the headset and the headband in the back.
>>447374214
well shit forgot the vision pro existed
>>447341270
>>447374651
how old is the icon?
I thought about that but it seemed weird to include the headband in the iconography
>>447374890
I don't remember it ever changing, so a year at the minimum.

Can no one in the VR industry release anything at all WITHOUT an issue that makes the item useless ? new HMD with great lenses? Yeah make it 70FOV, no mic, no speakers and make it $1500. Camera tracked trackers? Can only work with HMDs no one has, what’s the percentage on steam of people owning a focus3/XR elite
>>447374754
i recognize that booth

Thanks for coming to today's sign meet, be sure to bully J
>>447372158
man this would be exciting for modders to do funny stuff with. like making a wireless and basestationless index. still might be the best trackers before their own due to no tracking loss. this is assuming that vive doesnt fuck it up somehow(they might be already >no pcvr at launch)
>>447375102
The point is to do one thing really well so bigger company will acquire you
>>447374890
>>447374995
That icon came out a few months ago.
>>447374890
the icon is from the UI refresh
it used to just be a small icon with "VR" text

Total zigger death
excuse me if im late to the party but what the fuck is up with furries and overly complicated vrchat avatars?
just saw that the most recent version of the Awtter avatar has a DRM built in that wont load the avatar until you put some passcode license thing in everytime you play vrchat
