I downloaded rookie sideloader from VRP and if something fails to download/install, as often happens, then it will always fail whenever I try to download it again after that. I sorta fixed it a bit by cleaning the lenses with a microfiber cloth and trying to position the headset perfectly on my face, but there is some there. I'll just have to learn to ignore it.

Getting the headset to just fit perfectly on my face and reducing visual blur is a never ending battle tho. And my face sorta hurts after longer sessions.
I can only assume that this is the same for everyone.

I tried the Kino Der Toten contractor mod the other day, it's quite an impressive mod, it seems exactly 1:1 to how the map was in CoD, all the weapons and wonder weapons are there, pack-a-punch and even the characters model and voice line. I think it might even be better than the Pavlov Zombie mode.

Yeah, the weekdays are insanely dead. That group isn't entirely to blame, though. It doesn't help anything that there are big trash meets so many days a week and, and admittedly, having stuff like pypy so often also takes the steam out of things.
And so many people just want to play flat games together.

I think one way to get weekday meets going is to get people roaming around publics until the group hits critical mass, like we did in the old days.

There's not much coming out that can keep your attention. That Assassin's Creed game is Quest exclusive and PC has gotten fuck all this year except for Vertigo 2, indie games like Barbaria and Yupitergrad 2 which don't get mentioned, and some ports of decade+ old games. Meanwhile flat releases include stuff that can really vacuum up time. And I love said decade+ old games, but they all have their own threads.

It change the render resolution. If the resolution is below your screen, your GPU will upscale the output to match the screen. If higher, it downscales. Downscaled stuff looks better than native res, and upscaled stuff looks worse.

It supersamples the image which results in less jaggies, and results in more detail (particularly on text and UI). It's like a more expensive MSAA that works on the whole screen, not just edges.
This works particularly well in VR because you're constantly in motion. Distant textures and particularly text/UI will distort and flicker a lot less.
You should set it to at least like 130%, or higher if your GPU can handle it.

If you can hit 144fps in a game then yes. Otherwise the improvements will be fairly small.
VR caps your framerate in halves if you can't reach the full target framerate, so if you can reach 120 but not 144, you will get lower framerates. If you can't reach either of them, setting it to 144hz will give you 72FPS instead of 60FPS. But this will make the headset hotter.
Basically you will have to finetune this per game, or just leave it at like 120 and call it a day.

I wouldn't ever go past 200% on anything. Beyond that point you're way past subpixel rendering. On a 4090 I'd stick it at 150-200% on most games and leave it at 100% for VRC.

Performance varies between world and avatar very heavily, I monitor my CPU/GPU usage and lots of times I'm sitting at 20+ ms on GPU alone just because of a shitty world I'm in, putting up the supersampling just makes that worse. On a 3090, too. Plus putting it up makes VRAM usage higher, and VRC uses a lot of VRAM anyway.

They CAN run 24/7 but it's probably best not to. Failures are so rare and take so long it's very hard to say what causes any kind of failure, but at any rate they use like 5W when running and 1W when on standby so you save money if they go on standby. Plus it's automatic if you use the steamVR options for it so there's little reason to run them 24/7.

I don't know why CVR specifically got people so upset. I think it's because it was viewed as a genuine threat and "competition", unlike Neos which was so horrendous that it didn't draw any of the ire because there was no worry that the trannies would get emptier instances in VRC.
Most of the criticism also came from newfags and trashfags. When you have only been around since 2021, it's easy to overlook or not even know about the various ways the VRC devs have made massive fuckups in the past and will do so again in the future.

EAC was a fantastic update because it killed mods. Teleporting to people on a map pissed me off to no end. The prevalence of mods turned everyone into a stalker and completely butchered immersion (ie: the entire point of vr). If it's a part of some complicated transitions you want to keep consistent, you should measure the angles only locally and then use a seperate synced variable through paramater driver.

If it's just a to add a funny sound effect or something without any long standing state changes, you can just leave it as is.

Can someone point me to a tutorial or prefab for making an animated spherical panorama to attach to a player's head?

I am trying to create a jumpscare effect and I already tried attaching a particle emitter to the FOV camera that uses a sprite sheet created from picrel, but the screen created by the particle emitter doesn't scale to fill the FOV of the user, so it ruins the effect and if I make it bigger then it runs the risk of becoming unrecognizable

i got OVR toolkit yesterday to try out, but reading the thread it looks like i fucked up and XSoverlay was the correct program?
is it much better? OVR seems cool enough, a little hard to control/grab stuff but that's probably by design so you don't grab it on accident all the time I guess.

I'd stick with OVR Toolkit desu, XS has been wonky for me for the week I tried to sue it again, and I never looked back once after going back to OVRToolkit. In my experience, it's simply easier (may it be I'm just more adjusted) to do anything in OVRToolkit than XS.

I keep getting booted for checksum failures. I assumed it was different car versions, but I still got booted with the Kunos Huracan, so I'm guessing the checksum is due to the track version and not necessarily the cars. What version of Road Atlanta is the server using? Current is 1.5 - you should be able to disable checksums in the server_cfg.ini file, of course that could lead to someone cheating. But if we're only ever just doing track days, I don't see a reason to keep it enabled.

I use AssettoServer via Content Manager, I'm not sure what you're using to host, but I believe even without AssettoServer, there should still be a server_cfg.ini file in your server folder, and somewhere in it you change "DISABLE_CHECKSUMS=0" from 0 to 1. If you're using AssettoServer, there would also be checksum options in the extra_cfg.yml for both cars and tracks, but anyway, I'll just downgrade since it's too much of a hassle for when we should be playing. Also I don't believe you can change those values while the server is running.

1070 is on the low end but you should be good to play some lower spec vr games if you aren't expecting higher framerates/resolutions on harder games. I used to run many older vr games on a 1080 without issues on my old index.

Anyone else using Continuous Calibration with Quest having their trackers suddenly drift after the SteamVR 2.0.8 update? Any fix?
Uninstalled the drivers, redid the pairing, etc. It's just not working the same

how come steamVR is locked to 120fps on my quest 3?
I've turned the meta-settings to 90hz, my VD settings to 90hz, but when I start steam VR it jumps to 120hz.
In steamVR settings I see no way to drop it down, (in the headset display at least)
is it an option on PC view or something?
