Running the Nevada Highway from Need for Speed: ProStreet in Assetto Corsa tomorrow night at 8PM EST (about 9 hours from now).

Bi-weekly Small Cluster Exploration event this Sunday, going around worlds, checking whatever event is active at the time and messing around with ingame world building tools. There are some cool worlds to see and fun games to play.

Grip day 2.0, but now with fully manual gearboxes. We're taking Formula One cars of 1970ties into Finland, to drive on extremely complicated track. There is enough grip and speed to kill yourself. Expect blind corners, it's gonna be a survival race, perfect for the last race of season 9.

Afterwards we'll take a drive in Hungary, on a Transfagarasan pass, to get some scenic views. Cars with no roof only!

Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.

It looks terrible if you have good vision, especially in VR. DLSS causes ghosting in motion and is way blurrier than not having AA on. Framegen doubles input latency and causes a rippling effect especially in UI. Only games by incompetent studios like CD Projekt and Bethesda are recommended with it. I don't see why you would resort to it unless you have a lower end laptop card.

No need to take my word for it of course. Boot up No Man's Sky in VR and toggle DLSS on and off. There's a reason Into the Radius removed it entirely.

What are you talking about? Cyberpunk uses the Red Engine which isn't related to Unreal at all. Into the Radius is on Unreal and DLSS was bad enough there that they removed it.

Fake upscaled pixels which require temporal stability will not work in VR without special work which nobody will put in.

It just makes everything looks blurry, fucked, and ghosted. Fake pixels, never again.

Jesus Christ, Arizona Sunshine 2 is a joke for 50 bucks. Bonelab 2.0 with how the youtube community hyped the hell out of it as an amazing game when it's actually not good. The campaign is short, everything but shadows don't look that great on PC, zombies will spawn behind you to gank your ass unfairly, and trying to turn with the thumbsticks while moving your head is one of the most disorienting things I've done in VR. How do they screw up TURNING?

Pico 4 is very good with a pc vr as it has it own link and its 70hrz and no account or anything else needed
Quest is for standalone use as a portable and has great apps on itself
Pico 4 is more self home use with close to zero apps on it , best on computer with steam

Really depends on the condition they're in and how cheap you can get them. Most stuff holds up pretty well, but you might end up needing a replacement cable or something. I'd be kinda wary of Index controllers with no warranty if I didn't know how they'd been treated.

yes, i have a quest pro, index, (and a few other headsets). the pro controllers are self tracking using the cameras, the main benefit of that is that it doesnt lose tracking when the controllers are out of sight of the headset like typical inside out tracked headsets.

they are good controllers but are much different in feel than the index knuckles, they are small and dense compared to the index knuckles big and hollow feeling. they also dont have finger tracking like the index knuckles.

Im not biased against pico 4, hardwarewise its actually a great piece of tech (although the software part is inferior to meta's and it shows in things like controler tracking.), some design choices like magnetic lens rims for slim lens inserts are amazing and should become a standard.

I am biased against ordering expensive stuff from china - if you can get pico 4 pro or pico 4 enterprise (you can apparently now use regular streamer with it - enabling it to stream facetracking data to PCVR) from local seller or get any sort of warranty, then it might not be a stupid idea.

In comparison to quest pro - Its more comfortable but the higher resolution doesnt really make up for what local dimming adds, lens seem to be of worse quality and its hard to beat SLAM tracked controlers.

Facetracking also loses to Qpro's - It feels like pico's tracking is way less sensitive, forcing you to make exaggerated faces for it to pick up. I never managed to get frowning to work and i had to sand my lens inserts for the eyetracking to work for me (Qpro works mostly ok with lens inserts)

Doing this the first time I messed up the adjustment mechanism on the right side so it wouldn't snap into place properly anymore, but after applying some pressure and generally massaging it I got it to work again. The mechanism itself is very fragile, so be careful there.
