I was thinking of hosting the NA hours NYE instance again, probably in a group+ with the unlisted group that I used for the summer event (which I can link if people want to help moderate).

I have an HTC Vive and for a few months now it keeps raising the floor. EG I just tried to play and the "floot" was at my waist, so I couldn't grab anything below my waist in the game. This has been an ongoing problem. I've solved it before by going through the entire room-scale setup again but I can't keep doing the entire setup every single time I want to play any VR game. Is there a way to change the floor height without having to change all the boundaries? Or did I fuck up buying a Vive? Should I have gone with an Oculus? I don't see how Vive is a viable option when a basic problem like this keeps happening. I can't get a refund but at this point I'm considering cutting my losses and just buying a Rift since the Vive is basically broken.

I'm getting better hit accuracy in ragnarock streaming the game from my pc via cable and using the ingame latency offset than playing the native version of the game. I think having a silky smooth 120fps even with a delay is much better than the framedrops of a low-res 72fps native port.

cats on blender 3.3 works fine, that's the last version i tested where merging bone weights to parents worked 100% of the time. Some cursory testing shows that the feature works fine on 3.6 LTS as well, along with everything else function normally. Like the other anon said, 4.0 with cats is pretty unstable, when I tried pose mode there it refused to save the rest pose. 3.9 is probably the latest version you can upgrade to where CATS works 99% of the time (Personally I've decided to downgrade to 3.6 LTS).

World creator here. Created a cross-platform world where ambient lighting is absent and instead an Udon script locally attaches a realtime light to a user when they spawn in.

Works fine for the glorious PC gaming master race most of the time but the filthy Questie peasants are complaining that other avatars appear as black silhouettes. However, I want the world to become a popular hangout, which will require support from the Questies.

I tried creating a baked point light with culling set to only illuminate avatars with a range large enough to illuminate all of them, but that didn't seem to solve the problem.

Anyone here have some insight on how to fix that?

I dunno it's just like the little discrepancies between VR and reality are lesser or I just don't notice them as much.
VR tricks my brain sober really well already, I spent the first week and half gripping the floor with my toes in fear from things like Jet Island.
a couple months into it, I'm much more 'detatched' but getting drunk makes it more immersive for me

Think in terms of prefab, and re-usability.
Started working on my Map for 2024, A city, the streets consists of 3 prefabs, Straight, Corner and Intersection that will be strung togheter for the layout.
Look at non indie games and how they do it, GTFO VR is a good example, as they reuse stuff like there is no tomorrow, and in VR you can see and look at such things much better then flat.

Use Collections in Blender, because then you can make your main Blend File, and Link the Collections into that file.
