If you private it later, the next time they load that avatar (eg: moving worlds, log off and back on, switch out then back into the avatar) it won't let them and just throw them into a default avatar.

Two main problems with it: battery life and extra peripherals.
To get it to work with wireless you need to buy a wifi6 router. Generally your ISP's one doesn't cut it. As for cables it'll need a long usb-c. You'll get about a 2-3 hour play session out of the default battery charge and you can't charge while playing. Grab a big external battery pack and something to strap it to the headset.

It depends. If you don't have a big enough desk or a dedicated cockpit to mount the wheel to, you're probably going to find it too much of a hassle to keep having to detach and reattach it to play - my friends don't touch their wheels because of that, so unfortunately it seems to be a waste of money for them. I use a large recliner with an armrest big enough to serve as a mousepad and my keyboard is in my lap when I'm not playing Assetto. I just stuck my monitor on a cardboard box so the wheel wasn't obscuring the bottom of my screen, and eventually upgraded to a large monitor that had enough clearance on its own stand to no longer need the cardboard box. When Assetto came out, I only played it with my PS3 controller and no VR. My best bro invited me over one day and he had a G25 and Oculus Rift - so I got to experience both devices simultaneously and immediately had to buy my own. So yeah, if you really like cars or driving, if it's something you've always wanted to get into, and again if you can keep the wheel and shifter fixed onto something so it doesn't become a chore to play, then it's absolutely worth it - otherwise probably not.

I haven't used a gamepad to play Assetto ever since I got my wheel but I have friends that prefer using their Xbox gamepads because of the aforementioned (too lazy/tired to setup every time). It took me time to setup the PS3 controller but nowadays you can just look at videos on YouTube - you can easily try other peoples' settings. Try that, if it's not perfect, tinker with the settings until it's dialed in. CSP has a module for gamepads now, so maybe look into that too. If that still isn't doing it, there are a couple of apps (I think on RaceDepartment) that have plenty of good reviews that may be worth trying as well.

VRC is a given, but if you feel like outputting some creativity, setting up a VR project in Unity/UE is piss easy, and then you can build your own comfy little world with next to no prior vidya 'development' knowledge, possibly aligned 1:1 with walls and objects around your playspace. I don't have any good video other than pic related, but I have this one comfy little sandbox world with a flooded city without building textures. It was crazy fun to keep adding various objects, sounds of water splashing against walls, some quiet transformer hum in the background, until it really started giving off proper comfy loneliness postapo last-person-in-area vibes

Might not be what you're looking for, but if it sounds anywhere near interesting to you, fun and comfiness is pretty much guaranteed. Both unity and UE have stores with free/cheap assets, there's tons and tons of stuff to choose from on various asset websites too, the process requires pretty much nothing more than the ability to set basic project and the desire to slap assets together into one comfy scene.

When you're going sideways in a real car, your tyres are pushing the steering wheel rotation towards where the grip is, so correcting a slide is not a high-strength operation even in reality. Can't say I've ever got to drive a 70's stratos with no power steering, but basic rule of how wheel responds to grip on the road should be the same. I think dirt rally was more or less trying to give off similar effect, even though DR FFB is not quite the strongest point of the game. It would definitely feel like trash with FFB disabled though.

Also, another thing: using weak ffb is a good idea in any sim because of clipping. Think of it in the same way as audio, if you'd boost the shit out of signal, quiet parts would get louder, but loud, strong parts like bass would get distorted. In a similar manner, if your FFB is set to be weak, game can wiggle the wheel with minimal strength because that's what you request most of the time, or it can hit you significantly harder when necessary. If your FFB is cranked all the way up, weak force punch becomes a strong force punch, and then there's no extra motor power to make you realize that properly strong forces are any stronger than weak ones.

Is the Quest 3 any good for PCVR? I play decently long sessions on my 4090 with a Rift S, so it's about time I upgrade.

1) Set character mesh to invisible, this includes hats, clothes, hands, shoes, etc. All you should see is the weapon the character typically holds.
2) Find "head" component using the unreal plugin tool and attach camera to as relative

I already had to fuck with my FFB settings a lot for Assetto Corsa for my G27, because the game's defaults is fucking everything punching it that isn't little nicks in the pavement, and it also made straight-aways at high speed oscillate the FFB off-center continually. I wish I could do Robocop. I can barely hit 60fps on medium settings on my card in desktop as it is. It's not too blurry in VR for you? The game's TAA is pretty aggressive.

Just played Rumble. Got three matches total. Won one, lost one, dc'd on one (I think it was the first guy rage quitting when he saw me again rather than actual connection issues).
Pretty fun but there's a major design flaw: You only get three moves to begin with and cannot unlock more moves without winning online matches. You're stuck doing disc spam and straight punching pillars until you win 4 or 5 matches. Most tech you can do is making a pillar under another pillar to give it a bit of upwards momentum and then using a straight on the first pillar as it's rising to lob it. 3 matches and I didn't level up to the new moves. The training dummy can use boulders, upper cuts, and big cubes on level 2 but I don't know how long it will take to get all of those. If it's one new move every level up it'll be pain with how unengaging the gameplay is with so few moves. That said everyone I did come up against has been low ranked and struggled a little getting things to line up just right. You really do have to practice the moves.
Would recommend IF they add the ability to progress without online matches or add quest support to increase the userbase. If you can get a bunch of friends to all play at once it'll be pretty good. It might be a pretty good game for vrg to pick up as there's a playground mode where a bunch of people can all be at once outside of the 1v1 matches.

Holy fuck, the campaign for the new plane in VTOL is hard. Trying to fly and operate weapon system targeting is already a challenge at times if you're trying to quickly acquire a SAM site, now trying to do all the EW stuff on top of that requires insane levels of multimanagement. I wish there was the ability to zoom in the TSD and Frequency Azumuth screens and move around like the NAV screen, it's impossible to target the right things when they're all on top of each other.

I have it and it's pretty good. Although there is a bit of latancy and you have to create the shapekeys for it unless you use those premade ones on booth or whatever. You can make your own through a tool, but other then that you are on the money about social interactions with it. Being able to react natural has changed my experience from just doing a gesture to reacting naturally when I talk to people.

I did get to try a handful of single player games on my own. Superhot VR was neat, Job Simulator was a great first experience for me and a couple friends who were over, this one kid absolutely adored OpenBrush and we made a bootleg looking eiffel tower.
