Hey, all. I'm in the market for a GPU upgrade. Hoping to get some advice. I can get my job to pay for a chunk of it since I'm a full-time dev, so, budget isn't that big of a concern. Here's my current rig:

I'm hoping that I can primarily get away with only upgrading the GPU. I want to be able to blast through VRChat parties and clubs, so a high VRAM is a necessity.
If I got something with 24gb VRAM like a 3090 would I be severely throttled by the rest of the rig?

I admit that I'm pretty inexperienced with PC hardware tinkering and I'm a little bitch when it comes to opening things up. I'm always scared of breaking something. That's partially why I was hoping that I'd only need to upgrade the GPU since I wouldn't have to take anything else out.

i second this, 4080 super reviews go out tomorrow, VRAM is good until an extent, 16GB is more than enough, the 4080 is more powerful than the 3090 so theres no real point of buying that, apart from saving money. After that you will be bottlenecked by your CPU, but upgrading to the 7800x3d is the recommended option, of course 5800x3d is still great but its older so only do that if its that much cheaper where you live, also theres not really that much point in buying an X670 motherboard on AMD, buying a B650 is cheaper and you wont miss out on anything really. You shouldnt really need a new PSU either, since 7800x3d is efficient and 4080 Super uses 320W

If you have a VERY high resolution headset you'll want to just get the best you can get and 4090 it. Ideally you want to get a 4090, but a 4080 super is going to be easily enough for 99% of your VRC time.
Of course VRC can eat more system resources if you have it but you're going to be making compromises and you need to balance your money, and your CPU and GPU frametimes. Money saved from a 4080 Super from a 4090 would be MUCH better spent on a 7800X3d because it'll help with CPU load and get those framerates up overall without crazy bottleneck.

Rendering done by the GPU, unity logic done by the CPU; and the 3D cache on the 7800X3d is an accelerator for unity.

Since the 24 Hours of Daytona was last weekend, going to try running a 24 minute version of it in Assetto Corsa tomorrow night at 8PM EST (a little over 25 hours from now).
We'll be running GTD cars this time around, some of the names are a bit different, but everything should be there.

Ironically the existence of this thread is what I think causes most of the drama. If this was just another online friend group, then the fighting cliques could just move away from each other into their own communities, and have official leaderfags dictating who is and isn't welcome.

Most just added it into their pre existing games.
The faceberg default one has cotton candy mobs invading your home. It's fun for one time and that's it.
Would probably be crazy for erp though but in vrchat you are usually seeing people against a wall of your house so it's more disorienting than useful.
Biggest reason for quest 3 over 2 is lenses are a hell of a lot better. The controllers are nice because you hit your hand less without the orb.

Yes. It's a ton of fun. Controls are great, movement is fluid and I haven't encountered any real bullshit enemies compared to Until You Fall.
Feels great to beat the shit out of stuff even with the basic weapons. Grabbing and pummeling enemies is great, being able to safely snatch them out of the air is also really great.

My only real complains so far is turning your actual body feels a hell of a lot better than using the joysticks so if you have a cord and it's not hung up it's inevitable you will get tangled in it. I've had to pause and get it unwrapped from my feet a few times. It's also a bit more demanding for space I find, My play area is odd at 5'6"x10' and it hasn't been much of a issue outside of 'I Fetch Rocks' and "the Thrill of the Fight" before now, but I do feel like I'm going to punch my computer or wall playing Underdogs.
