The discard pool lighting is better now so not every tile looks like the white dragon anymore. Well you could use a forehead halo style head strap like bobo, but don't use a facial interface. This gives really good fov because you can get the lenses close to your eyes but nothing touches your face. You can play in the dark with IR lights if you dont want light bleed. If I use a battery with the quest 2 how does power draw work? Does it keep the headset at 100% and deplete the battery first?

What would be nicer is balanced power draw where the quest tries to keep the two battery levels the same, but they probably didn't give a shit. I worry about my quest's battery lifetime because It gets charged to 100% then drained to nearly empty, and it'll see full drain once or twice a day, or just sit at 100% if I don't play that day. It's not like a phone that can go several days without charging, that you don't need to deplete to zero to squeeze time out of it, or even charge to full. Getting a battery pack doesn't seem to solve the issue because if you don't play long enough the hmd will stay at 100% most of the time, which also stresses the battery.

If they had balanced draw you could stop playing at 15-20% and charge to 80-90% and still get useful playtime out of it.

Mechwarrior 5 is a mech game with a sandbox career mode, co-op, and lots of build autism assuming that you use mods like YAML.
