The /vg/ League 22 divegrass tournament will begin starting next weekend! /vrg/ has been placed into Group H along with /smtg/ (Shin Megami Tensei), /fgoalter/ (Fate/Go NA), and /ddg/ (Dragon's Dogma).

This Saturday, June 8th @ 21:00 UTC (5:00pm EST), /vrg/ will play a real shin megami tensei game and go up against /smtg/ first. VR watch will be scheduled at the usual 11:30pm EST time that night

Next Friday, June 14th @ 21:40 UTC (5:40pm EST), /vrg/ will take on /ddg/ at home. VR watch 11:30pm EST that Friday.

Assuming the Quest Pro is reasonably comfortable for you by default more or less all the same shit from my guide should work for the Pro as well, you can even skip the USB splitter since it has a 3.5mm jack built in which opens up the ability to use powered link cables for the most solid video transmission possible. You can also use Steam Link for super easy streaming which I think works wired? Not tried it yet (though I'm not sure if that does face tracking guffins, I only have a Quest 3 to test Steam Link with) or Virtual Desktop for 10 bit encoding which gives better colors.

anyone ever use AI to create avatar textures? im curious how well it would wok but i dont have a nvidia gpu for cuda.

it'll do okay at smaller detail patterns, and contrary to >>480459610 it's actually very good at doing seamless tiling when you check the option in the webui; you get it sort of for free in the denoising process. I've never tried img2imging full texture sheets, but I suspect it won't do very well due to how abstract the mapping can be. You'd likely be better off taking screenshots of your avatar and using img2img + controlnet on the depth to generate textures, then projecting them back onto the mesh in blender; I think there are a few plugins for blender that do this automatically.

I dropped half life VR because it's kind of jank. There's not even a weapon recoil animation.

I tried half life 2 VR and it's a lot nicer, the only tech that bothers me so far is the two handed smg and mounted guns. But man, VR really brings out the worst of HL2. Cops are boring enemies that would normally be push overs that stand there and slowly die to your inaccurate smg fire. So valve realized the way to fix that was make flying manhacks that annoy the shit out of you. They never imagined you playing this game in VR, where you miss shots and reloading is a complex action. You can't weapon switch instantly and effortlessly either. And gordon has a lot of health so they just pour in the cops and manhacks. I don't want to turn the difficulty down because I think the damage they do is appropriate. But they probably should've reduced the enemy count.

Should I give HL1 another chance? I also wonder why they didn't mod HL:source after that fan patch fixed most of the issues.

Personally I've never once had any problems with steam link but seem to always suffer immensely every time I try to get virtual desktop to connect and launch games properly. It does have controllerless hand tracking though which is the only reason to actually use it over steam link.

what is the best texture compression setting in unity?

currently my texture atlas from blender is a 16384x16384 file that is 72.9mb, when i put it into unity it goes down to 5mb @ 2k but i do see some blurriness in the 2k texture so i think i need to bump it up.

my VR setup is 11 point tracking and i use kneepads for dancing, and those are basically covered in sweat when im done. 2 years of that and my vr stuff is still working (including knuckles) so i dont think sweat is THAT much of a problem.

I'm using Virtual Desktop for Quest 3 and I have this inconsistent microstutter that no monitoring software can seem to detect. SteamVR, Virtual Desktop, fpsVR, none of 'em. My setup should be eating these games up and, as far as performance monitors are concerned, it is. But that's not what my actual eyeballs are seeing!
I'm seeing:

This COULD be a wide range of problems. Could be other 5ghz things blocking your signal, could be things outside of the 5ghz wifi (even if it is not in your network, it can affect your range and signal).

Has anyone ever gotten a bug while in VR that completely locks down interaction with different programs/windows except for one (1)?

I haven't been able to isolate a cause and it seems rather inconsistent, the only solution so far has been to do a full restart of my PC

Playing some more Vertigo 2 last night as I never finished it and I'm starting to realise why it never hooked me to finish it, the level design is just lazy.
In particular the boss fight areas and the ambush areas. The ambush areas almost always set you up in a circular room with 3-4 entrances and there's not really much strategy besides hide behind something the entire time or run around and get lucky.
The boss fight areas similarly don't inspire any joy in me. Fighting the priest in the civil war probably had the most complex boss fight stage but that was marred by needing to deal with the sheer volume of attacks he throws at you (with some just entirely going through walls). Managing manual reloads, your position, and watching what the boss is doing and where they are gets tiring quick; It feels like the dev playtested in flat.
Does anyone else share these sentiments?
