>>520650060
It's Bonelab which is close enough
WRC
4 days of Rally Estonia remaining! This event ends WRC2 class championship. After that, we'll have a set of more varied events. Also, they'll probably be weekly rather than bi-weekly because i expect some annoying DNFs in the process.

It's a gmod map in bonelabs; which is essentially gmod vr at this point
Do people post much about avatar making for vrchat here? Any medabots fans? Want to do more with this to have the limbs changeable and have particle effects and stuff.
Bonelab news!

I don't really care about medabots but I know a fair amount about avatar stuff
>>520657415
What's your fav? I want to add more parts, got models for phoenix, robo emperor, rokusho and peppercat so can add their arms, any specific others you think are recognisable that would be good? Oh and totaliser obviously. Got some particle effects I've found to add so they function.
>>520649835 (OP)
Good reordering of the weekly schedule. Have a headpat.
>>520632714 (Cross-thread)
Nice boat
>>520658185
Nobody probably cares but I'm also looking at doing some rotation constraint magic to get the shoulders to rotate properly, my thoughts are ill have an invisible skeleton the fbt effects, then rotation constraints on the arms to move them, then I need to do something like add rotation constraint for the shoulders with full weights to rotate them in one axis that the arms rotate so they don't clip like they do currently.
>>520658185
Rokusho is my favorite, not sure who else to add if you're only looking for parts though. Maybe Arcbeetle?
>>520659007
Constraints like that always seem a bit fucked up so my solution ended up being hard weighting pauldrons on my models now to roughly 20% shoulder 80% arm. It works.
>>520659152
Got some rokusho bits with the arm pincers separated so can make them move with gestures. Ideally I'd like to add some kind of fancy effect when changing the parts in the menu but also want to make it quest compatible so might be tricky.
>>520659582
I'll have a look at different weight painting, thanks
I know there were tools to optimize in unity.
I need something to reduce polys, something to atles textures and something to merge meshes.
I want to do it in Unity, so I can do everything in the highest quality possible in blender, then import it into unity, then do the optimization. Otherwise the workflow is all over the place.
>>520664492
unity is just for configuring, not for modelling
>>520664492
you can use polytool to combine materials and meshes in unity, the poly reduction is very hit and miss though, you can get it free on vrmodels.store. Nothing can beat doing poly reduction manually in blender though.
Why can't I fucking rescale display mirror in steam vr anymore ffs!
I can do it for one screen by dragging the edge, but nothing appears on the other.
And why i can't make them round while they are floating too.
What the fuck retards at valve done again.
>>520664492
Have fun finding edge loops you don't need and limited dissolving then for hours
>>520667125
Reducing polygons is hard and time consuming but what bothers me most of all about it is that the 70k limit is assuming you are using shapekeys on them in unity 2021
256 triangles are enough for everyone

EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club
Race 94
18:00 UTC 20:00 CEST, 14th of April.
We are going back to the past. To France of 1967, Albi. For one of a kind, two class race, Shelby Cobras and Lotus Type 49s! Both are great cars, but one is lighter than the other. Both are total death mobiles. What will you choose?
1 hour practice
12 minutes qualifiers
14 laps race
Afterwards, I'd love to explore a new freeroam map: Santa Monica Mountains. It's a pretty big photogrammetrized map, with multiple spawn points. We're gonna do a little series, exploring areas of different spawn points. This week: Point F: The Snake Carspot. We have 5 spawn points in total.
Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Assetto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.
For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.

He's a helpfull AI fellow in the pits who'll provide you information about your car, your opponents, yell at you or try to encourage you. And most importantly, he will spot for you, in case you have a car in you blind spot.
UI radar are immersion breaking and basically cheating, but this guy will tell you verbally if someone is there on your right. Download, install, select Assetto Corsa in game list, press "Start application" and it should work!

and
>6 gorillion polygons for my toenail!
that I want to hit. And I hope that your bad faith approach will be over at some point, so we can actually find a good middle ground.
>>520671245
I think I have seen a tool that lets my select and delete polygons. Don't know the name anymore though.
I still think doing all the optimization stuff "last" (and therefore in Unity) is a better workflow, as I don't need to make a seperate "opimised" blend file, should I ever want to change something on my avatar in blender.
>>520671548
Like the previous anon said, there is polytool but it was jank garbage from the times I've used it.

>so in retrospect was slime a meme?
Ill try to give an opinion as someone who used them for 2 years (taking note - i did not buy the official kit, i built it myself)
>Accessibility
DIY slimes might be the cheapest non-meme entry into FBT as all components are widely available and dont depend on things like base-stations. I know official SlimeVR kits were notorious for being delayed multiple times. DIY assembly only really acquires basic soldering and can be made even easier if you order a PCB (theres multiple projects with matching cases to 3d print)
However - by now i had to do maintenance on some of them already (some cases cracked at the belt-holders. Wemos D1 faliures and one time a battery catched flames)
>Ease of use
Its 6 belts around you body as minimum (and a lot of people go for 8 to get feet tracking) - so putting it on takes a bit of time. can probably be improved if you get some kind of a clip-on system for the belt i guess.
Also each tracker is charged separately so you either get like 5 usb cables or do humilitation ritual of charging each of them back to back
>Stability
Slimes connect via 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi so i tall comes down to your router. Standing about 15 meters from the router i did not had any connection loses to them
>Accuracy
And here's the main problem that comes with IMU trackers - they WILL drift and you can't do much about it other than recalibrate. Usually a fast recalibration (standing/sitting/laying down in straight position and pressing a button on controller twice) does the job, but i had some specifically bad cases where my torso keeps slowly rotating even if the tracker remains in static position.
The bigger problem is that i never managed to get it completely "go where i need it to be" i put down a leg and it will be several centimeters off the target. a straight forward leg move will go a bit on the left.
1/2
>>520677391
2/2
Usually i only do full recalibration once after starting the game to match ingame calibration and then fast recalibrations about each half-an-hour or when i go from standing to sitting or laying down.
Do i recommend them? If you want to get cheap FBT and dont have lightstations - sure. otherwise you might prefer to just get vive trackers.
I dont really have the room for lightstations but i've been slowly considering getting Vive Ultimate Trackers - I've yet to see how good they are now (i recall them being pretty bad when they were out, especially sitting or laying down)
That's all i guess, thanks for coming to my ted talk
>>520676787
I want to somehow mirror the weights from my right arm to the left arm.
Currently the right arm is properly weight painted, but the left arm is completely fucked.
The reason it's fucked is because I copied the right arm after many edits, removed the left arm, flipped the copy and sew'd it onto the left shoulder.
Please help!
>>520677738
Usually it's best to use the mirror modifier (in the spanner menu, same place as decimate and just mirror the entire thing, mesh and all.
If you're still symmetric this will work okay; select the mesh by vertex groups and you can limit the mesh to only the vertex groups you want

I've heard this most ridicilous claim so many times.
You can stand half a meter from a basestation and it's gonna be fine. There is no way you can't hang basestations in your room.
>>520679821
If they're put close to the ceiling pointing down they take up even less space; their 'field of view' is actually substantial.
>>520677653
>Vive Ultimate Trackers - I've yet to see how good they are now
They are good, but they have minimum distance to closest wall limits, which requires more space than lighthouse could ever require. Lighthouse doesn't need any more space than the boxes themselves!

You see the strangest things in random worlds.

7. good facetracking with upper face
VisPro1 misses 3 and 4, with 4 potentially coming during the next WDC.

Tempted to get this audio strap. Can anyone who has it opine on whether it's worth it over the regular strap? Also can you grab it without paying for the face cushion? I want to try 3D printing a gasket as I don't have an iPhone.

i prefer soft strap with ksc75s
>Also can you grab it without paying for the face cushion? I want to try 3D printing a gasket as I don't have an iPhone.
you'll want the halo strap setup which is later this year for that
>>520690789
wait the halo mount is just a forehead pad with a hinge and it's $180. What the fuck
>>520691125
it also includes the universal light seal
>>520691209
so injection molded silicone rubber with magnets? And this all costs almost the price of a quest 2?
>>520691348
yeah if you can find a quest 2 for $180 and want to use that instead feel free :)
>>520690789
I have the audio strap and it's definitely better than the default strap; having a back knob for adjustment is very convenient. The audio is merely ok; sounds fine but not as good as the index speakers, nor as off-ear (they sort of float around your ears but still touch the skin. If you have a 3d printer anyway you might be better off getting like some chink quest strap or vive deluxe strap instead and printing adapters. Also FWIW I also don't have an iphone but I just went to an apple store and did the scan on the demo phone.

Steamlink's Foveated encoding is mostly fine. if you move your eyes fast on the smallest foveaction value you will notice the area of effect but at something like 832 you really have to look for it to notice

you are just wasting time upscaling.
but to answer your question, you should be able to notice temporal artifacts like trails most likely, our visual system is attuned to that kind of stuff.
>>520692818
A rage lmao
>>520693125
I've heard people notice aliasing/shimmering when using subsampled quad rendering. I myself think I see edges better than surfaces in my peripheral, so some kind of upscaling may be needed. Maybe ghosting would still be an issue? I don't know if it's high contrast enough to see in the peripheral. That's why I was asking if examples existed to see if people have personally tried it, so I don't need to speculate or listen to other anon's speculation

>>520694721
>you weren't here for early VR and Oculus tech demos were you?
It's from 2019, it's not that old.
I was here in 2012. I'm a literal mtbs3d oldfag, that even before the first ever oculus carmack demo on e3 just so you know.
>>520694598

>>520695003
>I was here in 2012
well then you missed the very obvious tech demos
go look it up!
>>520694598
I think it's a quest of who and when didn't line up for a consumer product. Quest is standalone so what are they supposed to do, a wireless connection to a camera on your network that they sell and nobody buys? Valve could do it, but they do nothing every 2 weeks until they do something. Apple can do it but basic software wasn't in a good enough state on vision pro, there's a lot of stuff to improve before you get to body tracking.
>>520694598
people do use this kind of tech for vtubing a all the time. People used this and webcam/kinect tracking for VR too, but it has a lot of problems that make it no work so great like needing to face the camera and struggling with poses that aren't mostly upright
>>520695609
question* of who and when
>>520695684
I think valve could do it first because of their history with base stations, except you just have 2 or more cameras you place in your room and those should be a lot cheaper than lighthouses. They could be POE ethernet like closed circuit tv. Weird that the tracking data is separate from the headset but it will atleast be fast.
>>520695353
Are you being stupid on purpose?
I'm explicitly talking about an app that uses ARkit of your iphone and passes the data to the pc.
It's not a tech demo level, that shit can be used easily.
And no, there are no good camera to motion data solution available. I know because I checked like an year ago or something.
I'm just surprised that I never heard anyone talking about the apple solution at all.
>>520695684
If someone actually tested it, I want to see the results. Kinect & webcam stuff was way before the neural network boom (i knew about that) and it's made by apple so the quality should be at least half decent.
You can't be sure it faces exactly the same issues unless you try it.
Everyone has an iphone these days, so if it works at least half decently it could easily be a viable solution. 0 expense if you already have an iphone.
Iphone X is sub $100.
You can easily put multiple of them in your room and it still will be cheap as fuck.
Use the head position as the source calibration and select the best view dynamically based on the pose/position in the room.
ARkit gives you all the info on a silver platter, it does the hardest part of the work. It should be very easily to implement.
>>520696334
>Are you being stupid on purpose?
you're clearly incapable of using a search engine so I'll pass that torch to you rather than spoonfeed you
there's several webcam solutions out there, not necessarily Apple proprietary slop
and as mentioned Oculus was working on a solution but you can thank Zucc for ruining that
look up the rest, babe

>>520696334
The problem with neural network pose estimation might be the compute requirements. I recall an unreleased Chinese FBT that used a pair of depth sensors, it claimed to be much more accurate than what was possible with the old Kinect/webcam and Microsoft pose estimation method but had a significant performance/VRAM cost when ran on a PC. The company name was something retarded so I can't find the link now but they also had some shitty unreleased FBT software on Steam.
Besides that, Haritora also have a camera tracking add-on for the HaritoraX 2 planned.
>>520697826
i gave them enough to go look shit up on their own
dunno why you feel the need to try and protect them like some white knight fauning over an e-thot
you're contributing even less in this instance
I've messed around a bit with camera body tracking. https://github.com/ButzYung/SystemAnimatorOnline was the most worked example I found, which uses mediapipe (2022-era ML) and can output VMC protocol, which apparently is popular for vtuber type stuff. It works okay and is relatively easy to use. However, I don't think there are any fully worked projects to align VMC tracking into a VR playspace and emulate trackers (i.e. make it work in vrchat), nor any projects to align multiple cameras. It's all definitely feasible, just nobody has put it together yet. Also not sure what the SOTA for RGB pose estimation is these days; you can probably do better than mediapipe though.
>>520698531
>The problem with neural network pose estimation might be the compute requirements.
I'm watching the presentation right now. Everything is on device, on pc you would only need a basic webserver which connects to the iphones through wifi and polls the data.
>>520698706
We need to check the quality of ARkit implementation. For all we know it might just shit on mediapipe (I knew about it, it's not that good).
And once, everything is on device. You can easily buy multiple iphones and place them around the room.
Fuck, you can easily share the environment map data of multiple iphones.
Why we slept on it for so long?
>>520699154
It's probably worth trying, but I'm allergic to applel products so you're gonna have to do it.
>>520699928
>Why we slept on it for so long?

>>520700000
You can buy multiple iphones for the price of one vive tracker.
>>520700103
Even if we decide a developer can easily do this no one will hear about it, let alone will consumers go out to buy multiple used iphones to do something no software currently uses. People won't tie up phones and tablets for this. There needs to be a VR camera

>no nonverbal communication cues
>no exit strategies at multiple levels
>no adaptability to personalities or other people interjecting
>no mention of consent or boundaries
>no mention of reflective listening/feedback
>no mention of follow up / continuity between conversations
This chart is garbage.
>>520704702
>>520705415
This is outdated, no change log including the last 6 revisions.
>>520704702
I fed chatgpt with >>520705415
here is the result:
>Nonverbal Communication Cues
Missing Element: The chart doesn't mention body language, facial expressions, or tone of voice.
Why Important: In in-person or video conversations, these are crucial for gauging comfort, interest, or tension.
Fix:
Where to Add: Right after the node:
“Listen intently and nod head”
Add:
“Assess nonverbal cues (body language, facial expressions, tone of voice)” Adjust tone and response accordingly
>Exit Strategies
Missing Element: No graceful exit flow if a conversation becomes uncomfortable, boring, or inappropriate.
Fix:
Where to Add: From any “No” branch under “Conversation continues?”
Add:
[Is conversation awkward, uncomfortable, or clearly disengaged?]
Yes [Gracefully exit: thank them, change topic, or excuse yourself]
No [Try redirecting to lighter or shared interest topic]
>Adaptability to Personalities
Missing Element: No personality style assessment.
Why Important: Different communication styles require different approaches.
Fix:
Where to Add: After branching into “Type of Discussion” or before humor type selection
Add:
[Assess personality style: introvert/extrovert, analytical/emotional, casual/formal]
Adapt humor, depth, or pace accordingly
>>520705394
/pso2g/ here, this yuki guy is kinda cute...
>>520706239
>Emotional Safety or Consent
Missing Element: No safety gate before deep topics.
Fix:
Where to Add: Right before “Politics, Religion & Philosophy” and “Future Plans and Goals”
Add:
[Is this topic appropriate based on level of rapport/trust?]
Yes proceed
No pick lighter topic from Entertainment or Biography
>Reflective Listening & Feedback
Missing Element: No mechanism for showing understanding or validation.
Fix:
Where to Add: Alongside or directly after “Listen intently and nod head”
Add:
[Use reflective listening: paraphrase or affirm their point]
Builds trust and shows active engagement
>Follow-up & Continuity
Missing Element: No instruction to retain key conversation details for next time.
Fix:
Where to Add: Just before the final “Closing thoughts and thanks” block.
Add:
[Mentally note key details or follow-up topics for future conversations]
Helps build rapport and show interest over time
I expect these pointers to be reflected in the newest version.

any day of the fucking week, LCDs look like utter fucking dogshit, Quest 3 displays are terrible
and the lenses are good, theyre far better than what ever the fucking dogshit they put in the Bigscreen Beyond. Yeah theyre not as good clarity as the Quest 3 but thats fine cause theyre still usable and pretty decent clarity.
Glare is the only thing to note that makes the lenses bad.

The demo at normal speed.
Does anyone know how well the Lower Body Set SlimeVR with Quest 3 works for VRChat FBT? Serviceable? The upper body on Quest 3 over Virtual Desktop seems pretty good so far, but I'm not sure how big of a difference the chest tracker makes.
Biggest difference (for me) is that Lower Body is in stock now, while Core is OOS until Jul 31st.
>>520721254
Wrong quote, meant to >>520719416
>>520720859
It's funny how much OLEDs are shit on for mura ( when uncorrected ), when the Quest 3 displays have... whatever the hell they have. Large uneven splotches that look like you've got crap on your lenses.
Add the uneven lens vignetting to that and it's a truly jarring experience.
I am willing to sacrifice a lot for OLED of any kind, uncorrected OLED mura is a minor inconvenience in comparison.
When I go to test my model in Gesture Manager it disappears and when I try to upload it, I'm stuck in t-pose.
I've already checked the rigging, armature, descriptor, different unity projects etc
Anyone know what could be the issue here?
>>520721596
does it work in play mode (av3 emulator)? any errors in the console? Vaguely still sounds like the animator is broken, but hard to say for sure.
>>520719416
>>520721254
Iphone 12 pro goes for around $300. It has both lidar and wide lens camera.
I might buy it just to test it.
>>520721254
You can pypy with that shit.
>>520721889
When it's just play mode it stays, when I activate Gesture Manager it's instantly gone.
I'll try the av3 emulator rn and check for console errors.
I don't understand how the animator could be broken when I've remade it a dozen times over in various projects by now.
>>520719416
>kinect is 15 years old
>camera-based body tracking is somehow still not solved
How the fuck?
>>520722329
What do you mean by "gone"? is the gameobject still there? Is the animator running/inspectable in the Animator window in unity (should see what active states are there. I've never used gesture manager specifically, but av3 emulator should be pretty accurate to what's happening in game (official in the sdk now).
What do you mean by "remade it a dozen times over in various projects"?
>>520721889
>>520722329
With AV3 Emulator it stays in T-Pose in the scene tab, my toggles work fine for some reason.
Note that this model USED to work fine until I added some accessories and now it just disappears and tposes on me
>>520722950
im surpised we haven't gotten some company trying to sell a camera based fbt system yet. tho iirc there might be one i can remember the name
>>520722965
I mean that I've stripped the fbx of it's animator and recreated it various times.
Isn't that what you do when you set a rig type?
Gone as in none of the actual meshes stay visible
>>520721956
That's not a bad price considering Microsoft's improved Azure version of Kinect with a similar Lidar sensor was and still is over $400. I know people looked into using the Azure version for FBT as it does have an SDK with unity examples but I don't remember what was wrong with it that made it such a dead end.
>>520722989
>Note that this model USED to work fine until I added some accessories and now it just disappears and tposes on me
how are you adding the accessories? modular avatar/vrcfury? Does the avatar still work without those accessories added?
>Gone as in none of the actual meshes stay visible
Hmm, that vaguely pattern matches in my mind to "write defaults issues", though that doesn't really help get to the bottom of the problem. How much of the animator is custom? i.e. if you reset all the animators to defaults, does the avatar work fine? (presumably it does but always good to check).
>>520723845
I added them in blender and then updated my fbx, since I don't unpack prefabs I've never had an issue with just overriding the fbx and having it add the new stuff.
Even if I did all it took was a simple pumkin copy over to fix what was broken.
I luckily saved a version without the outfit and accessories and putting this one into play mode does work and animates just fine.
>>520724162
Does sound an awful lot like it doesn't have a humanoid rig configured.
>>520719416
I looked it up and there are already several apps claiming to use this technology, and then communicate with quest headsets over wifi. No clue how good any of them are though.
>>520724162
Ok, I'm guessing that when you added the accessories in blender, that changed the paths of the meshes in a way where the existing animator/animations you had for the old avatar end up turning off the mesh renderers for everything (for.. write defaults reasons I guess).
Presuming that your avatar with the accessories but without your existing custom animator layers work as expected, you can either port over whatever you have in your custom animator to a new set of animators/animations, or try to fix up the paths in your existing animators. In current year, there are a bunch of nice modular avatar-like tools that'll do simple toggles/gestures/animation playback for you, so unless you have some real custom shit in there, it may be worth just rebuilding.
>>520724881
I managed to find a work around, thank you for the help anyway!

I have 6 point slimes. I run them on chest, waist/hip, knees and ankles.
I've tried combining it with Standable (just for shoulders) and I was using the VD FBestimation before.
I tried some exe on github to disable all the tracking points in the FBE on VD for the nodes I have trackers for but couldn't get it to work. Standable's user interface was easier.
That being said, I stopped using estimation and just have untracked shoulders. I think the reason was less to do with performance, and more to do with needing to "learn" how to use the slimes most effectively. First few sessions with them I was constantly fucking with them and resetting my positions and shit. Having to press 2-3 buttons to do it was too much so I stopped using standable or VD's FBE. I could try it again at this point since i'm used to slimin' but I'm not sure it's necessary.

All these things look good on video, but they jitter a lot and estimate depth of joints badly. Enjoy your feet and hips vibrating and jittering with noise RMS being in range of multiple inches.
>>520721254
if they look good on video they should look good for other people
>>520761407
Video is small. Being in vr near a person when their joints vibrate on a level of "few pixels of video" and youll notice.
>>520721254
i got a feeling it's mostly relying on flat image processing, and then depth is completely fucked. then again, put two of those under different angles, set static positions for both cameras, and here you go, depth perception. using it for VRC sure seems like an interesting concept

that shit is underexplored 100%.
>>520762008
I tried using iphone lidar for some 3d scanning stuff some time ago, and one downside was very low update rate, and then it was correcting itself quite a bit between two updates. No idea if it was related to software itself or not, but my general feel is that lidar either doesn't update very fast, or doesn't read very well and needs multiple attempts to average errors out

Based on my limited knowledge from two 20min WDC presentations, most likely they are discarding everything but very high confidence points.

Chest/waist/hip moves even when you are just lying down because of breathing (looking at stats in slimevr, they move 2x more than legs).
Legs going to the left/right when doing kicks and having to fast reset when sitting/laying down means you didn't properly calibrate. Reset your proportions to default and do the kneeling auto mounting calibration.
Still don't expect them to be as accurate as vives (I have both and in the end I prefer slimes a little bit more)
Also you might want to try Stay Aligned beta to minimize drift, some people say they don't have to reset when just chilling
Don't expect me to accept your FR if I don't know if you're a rando or not yet

This world was a big-ass art deco (?) space train station map
>>520770667
Awesome, kinda reminds me of the pre 2017 game, hopefully some of those spaces were ported into VR cause art deco is space is sick.
This map was actually really cool. It was a 'Moon of Jupiter' map set on callisto and had some setpieces demonstrating what a colony could be like. It had rotating living spaces for the artificial gravity and some information on jupter and callisto.
Don't expect me to accept your FR if I don't know if you're white yet
This world was a huge section of kyoto 3d scanned and all melty. It was just a sequence of roads but you could go for a while before reaching the end.
I want to see some cool graphics with a bit of interactivity, actual gameplay and performance concerns are secondary (though it utilizing Nvidia ray tracing and frame generation would be great). Please recommend an UE5 demo or something to look at

>>520783562
No

>>520785620

>>520783562
Unfortunately not, Boners are pretty barebones in terms of its GMOD nature. Even thruster toggle, one of few things we can control through interactions, only works for all thrusters on the map at once. If you can't solve something with basic mechanical constraints, you can't solve it at all. And then there's also the matter of object parenting affecting behavior of the entire machine depending on who touched them the last, this one kinda sucks as well.
eh, no need to doom too hard about it though, it's still plenty fun to play around those restrictions. it is what it is, and it's far from the worst it could have been

You're welcome for beta testing. I was reasonably impressed by the bigshit when I first got it, though the experience was also scuffed by the having to deal with the soft strap and a tangle of headphone wires, having a slightly wrong IPD, and the 3d printed gasket didn't fit right. The bsb2 hopefully rounds off those rough edges.
>>520811097
I've ordered a soft strap + 3d printed gasket because BSB2 arrives with those earlier, so I guess I'll learn your pain soon, kek. Not a big deal as long as universal gasket + halo strap comes over fast enough, and as long as headset itself has some redeeming values. Looking forward to my beta tests.
Let me guess, you *need* more?
>>520812237
Their email support was pretty responsive for getting a different IPD and a reprinted gasket. I'd just be prepared for some RMA funtime if it's not good out of the box. At least you didn't fall for the shitfall "no refunds" meganex meme.

I was initially impressed with BSB1 but then going back and forth with support through a million different face gaskets that never fit right and IPD changes that didn't really fix my issues with the headset caused me to hate it and shelf it, especially after trying out other headsets released after it.
The "thanks for beta testing here's a $50 coupon towards the next headset, also have fun paying $180 for a mount and a hinge just to use the universal face gasket" shit they pulled also leaves a real sour taste in my mouth towards getting a BSB2.

>>520848649
Yeah all right, but psa the index headstrap is removeable and they just use metal contacts for the audio.
But after thinking about it, whether IEMS+noise cancelling or off ear spatialization is better just depends on the content. So many VR games don't have HRTF or spatial audio at all so directly beaming the sound to ear drums would be bad. I'd really just like any headset that lets you use both options.
Also zuckerberg and pretty much any controller manufacturer that doesn't use Hal effect joysticks should be publicly stoned
Console wars are fun and all, but let's see some vrchat screenshots! That's probably a lot more fun than listening to people argue about whether apple is bad or not. At least talk about the headset!

>re the AVP
Apple has some interesting ideas for mixed reality about XR apps existing in a volume of space, but just like everyone else they put zero thought into XR user interfaces and it's very apparent in reviews. Locking it into their 3500 dollar walled garden platform was also very stupid. I don't like apple as a company and don't think they make good products, and haven't in a very long time.

The problem with wired audio is too many fucking wires.
It's already annoying to put headset on and off.
It's especially bad if you are leashed, so you have to do it every time you want to take a piss.
One of the reasons why vr is so unpopular with normalfags. Too much friction.
>>520850663

>still use my 2004 ipod nano
iPods were 100% the best thing they ever made, shame they morphed them into a shittier iPhone and then murdered those, too. At least the older and better ones are pretty easy to mod and still have batteries made. I'm real tempted to snag one and flash mod it desu, but my favorite version (3rd gen) apparently sucks for that

Normalfags use the headstrap audio that has no additional wires though
Standalone headsets have bluetooth audio. If you're using a wired headset you could bluetooth from your pc. What problems do you have personally? Did you use wired IEMs on the quest? I've done that and the problem is the dac/amp is shit so it sounds worse than the headstrap speakers. I wish it sounded good and I got to the part where the wires bothered me.

True, but you have to do that if you don't want everyone to hear echos through the mic.

It sounds more like zuck sucks and this was an easy layup to get working. What really sucks is I have an 80+ year old friend with a VR headset and we couldn't get his hearing aids to connect with bluetooth even though they work with his tv, phone, tablet, anything.
>When I play solo I just use built-in audio and a dedicated sub, which is actually a pretty good combo.
I tried mirroring audio to a sub with steam VR and the lag was almost a whole second, what do I use for this?
People need to shill subwoofers for VR btw. I've never heard of anyone else doing it but even with the unuseable delay the shaking floor felt like 1/3rd of the sensory
>>520852107
but this site has always been shit-flinging and shills, mom.
>>520852345
>It sounds more like zuck sucks and this was an easy layup to get working.
It's an industry wide issue which also affects phones.
>I tried mirroring audio to a sub with steam VR and the lag was almost a whole second, what do I use for this?
This is not normal.
>>520852345
wireless audio can work but there are some caveats, you need:
>standalong wireless receiver that uses proprietary 2.4GHz radios to transmit quickly, or
>AptX Adaptive (formerly AptX Low Latency), which has to be supported by both the transmitting and receiving devices, and very few people make decent earbuds that support this
>>520852345
>People need to shill subwoofers for VR btw
we've got silly vests that do a similar thing giving you some haptics without the delay via a 3.5mm cable
its neat and immersive for certain applications, but the vests are not very comfortable

Ive never owned wireless earbuds, if I go out and buy some and watch a youtube video on my phone are lips going to be desynced? It sounds like I would've heard of this problem before, but I don't go looking for it either
Anyway the steam audio mirror lag has happened on two different systems years apart on both window 7 and 10. I found other people with the problem, I didn't know it actually worked for some people.
>>520853151
steam vr issue then. route manually
>>520853151
Phones compensate. My phone starts desynced and then a second or two later it matches up the video to the audio. You can't really do this in VR for obvious reasons.

perfectly in sync
>>520853151
>if I go out and buy some and watch a youtube video on my phone are lips going to be desynced?
not by a lot, because the phone will buffer the video slightly to compensate for the latency. But try playing a game, using music software, or anything else that is real-time. It's noticeable even to a casual user.
>>520852747
the ultimate would be a rotary sub, they do loud infrasound that makes your body resonate

I finally executed part of a project I've had on the backburner for the past 5 years. I scraped all the vrg threads that exist on b4k's archive. These are all the posts in the threads on vg that have `vrg` somewhere in the subject (which does include some of vrgg, and an occasional v-rising general when that was FOTM; I'll filter it out at some point). I don't have any thumbnails or full images yet, but b4k does have them; will take a while longer to scrape them though. Unfortunately b4k also cuts off at 2019 (thread #613 or so). archived.moe does have some earlier threads, but they don't have search enabled, plus they have the full cuckflare botwall in front so it'll be more work to scrape (suggestions welcome if you've done CF bypass scraping before).
But anyways, it's 910,619 posts in all its glory. Here's a basic posts over time plot. If you want to mess with the data yourself, here it is in 70MB of parquet: https://file.vrg.party/vrg-archive-2025-04-07.parquet .

The thread is /vrg/ before anything else as far as I'm concerned but clearly the wider '/vrg/ community' often encompasses parts of adjacent communities too. Even just on 4chan we have two other threads that can overlap with us because all three are playing the same game. It's not really a surprise that some of those people or others on the periphery would show up in VRChat but not this thread. The bigger the community got the more options people had to find fragments they prefer to be around, unfortunately that means losing some people.
>>520861540
A lot of /vrlg/ still browses /vrg/ and some of /vrfg/ does as well. There's clearly some overlap and am glad people still choose to be here and be interested in the trajectory of VR in what weird autistic way we can make it be

Almost finished with doom VFR and this shit is bewildering
Playing this with teleport would be awful. This game came out the year after the oculus touch controllers existed, and they have actually returned to patch the game a couple of times after release years later, but the whole UI is still designed around vive wands and everything is just mapped dirty. For $15, you get an opinion that doom would be good in VR if they just fixed it, made another one, or ported one of the games. I only get in trouble when I forget the button mappings, I guess the combat the easy? It's hard to tell because there's a really odd game design choice of giving you a BFG grenade launcher as a dual weild offhand weapon then dumping BFG ammo in the arena everywhere. So before things get hard you can just delete everything without even a weapon swap. If this were doom eternal I would get raped, but fast FPS works fine in VR to a degree. It's the only game like this over 5 years later right? Pathetic.
>>520865667
>Also wtf is the welding gun called???
Constrainer supposedly, but I don't remember seeing it in the list of items to spawn
>>520866197
Also I've noticed the trend that everything old VR was ruined by the vive wands and it's the reason I completely ignored VR before alyx. It's so dumb even to outsiders why you would not put analog sticks nor face buttons on a controller, It's so bad I want the names of who was responsible.
>>520866197
>Playing this with teleport would be awful.
I never ended up finishing it since something broke smooth movement for me and it wasn't fun without it.
>or ported one of the games
It's probably not what you're looking for, but 1, 2, and 3 are all playable in VR through unofficial ports.
A full port of 2016 using what they'd already done for VFR would've been great though.

Man my timeline is so fuzzy I didn't even realize that and I bought a steam controller. It's been an eternity. It really has to be some of valve's fault. If they thought only touchpads were a bad idea they should've had the clout to talk htc out of it.

You realize the Steam controller wasn't meant to be another game controller, right? It was meant to be a bespoke device specifically catered to making KB/M games playable on a couch. You were always meant to just use a regular controller for games that supported that. Unfortunately nobody understood that fact and shat on it for not being yet another XBox controller clone.
Now granted I agree that the touchpads on Vive wands were shit, maybe they were just trying to offload stock or maybe they actually thought they'd be more useful in VR who knows. They might have thought we'd deal with more floating desktop UIs or custom mapped things or some shit that would work better on a trackpad.

Would it be difficult for you to prepare a similar dataset for trash/vrlg? If you have automated scripts for everything, I'd love to see that as well, poking around those datasets is so much fun
>>520860626
have you tried playing vr games
>>520894965
one would say that crying about trashfags caused a decrease in lewding, but i'd say that lewding deficiency in main thread caused an jealousy-fueled increase in crying about trashfags
>>520901850
conclusion: lewding should be talked about more in main

> archived.moe does have some earlier threads, but they don't have search enabled, plus they have the full cuckflare botwall in front so it'll be more work to scrape
I also had a project similar to yours in mind and wondered if I could get past that shit with selenium or something like that.
>>520911219
sure, but it becomes less readable due to value scales
>>520915570
Normalize them lmao.
Intersting spikes, also need precovid times...
>>520915570
what about "trashnig"?
>>520916157
As in, ratio of phrase hits against all posts for a given period?
>>520916227
guess all you can see is how it's a rather recent development in general shitposting
>>520916650
Can you fine tune the results for trashnig even more to look for hotspots in terms of active time windows? EG; correlate activity to a certain timezone
left partway thru but gamenight was fun
glad i worked up the courage to go
>>520916853
Nah, sorry anon, won't go that far. Got my little script that groups data per time period and plots out hits for a phrase in comment content, that's about it.
though not gonna lie, grouping per timezone seems like a fun concept, might give it a shot later
I will refuse to have fun.
100 situps, 100 pushups, 100 squats, 10km run every single day!
The poor form is the tracking being off I swear
>>520916650
What changed mid-late 2021? Would be cool with months on the axis.
>>520918486
someone said it for the first time, I guess. the myth, the legend, the prototrashniggerposter
https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/350418910/#350431274
>>520918927
I think trashnigger is different than trashnig
>>520918979
if you say so, I'm not reading angry shitposts too much so I might be ignorant in the ways of saying trashnig(GER). Here's 'trashnig[space]' for you, and the respective prototrashnig.
https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/432026923/#432064590
>>520919298
edit, looking at it now, it seems like going back in time reveals more of this phrase flying around when I seek manually by ctrl+f through previous threads. I might be putting too much faith in how data is sorted in my structures, so those might not be first ones to say those phrases after all.
Aw.
