And they added TLS cert pinning so you can't mitmproxy the downloads themselves. So you pretty much need to bypass EAC to get at the keys (possible, but above most skiddies). Oh well.

There's ton of resources. I wouldn't go any lower than 3060 profiles for stability. I'll send you some pics if you need it. My job is mech design and I have access to some machinery, that helped me a lot. Don't expect it to be very cheap, if you want something sturdy you'll land on gtomega prices. Well, bit of an autistic blogpost (sorry in advance for how awful it is of a read), but the tl;dr is that i'd like more competitive games within vrchat/vrg.

Before doing Chess+Mahjong, I tried to host chess regularly but had nobody join; also tried later on to host Shogi but it had even worse attendance. Mahjong was also popular, but played chaotically through the week rather than regularly hosted.
Combining both was always with the intent to bait people into Chess using Mahjong. Ironically enough, I kind of dislike chess (or rather, improving at chess makes the game less interesting), but it is the most accessible competitive boardgame people would be willing to try.
While I'd prefer to play competitive games that could translate to irl communities (Shogi, Backgammon, Hanafuda, ...); I think those might be too niche for people here. Meanwhile, VRC Volleyball; while nowhere close to its irl counterpart, is likely more accessible and *may* get actual in-vr competition outside of vrg, depending on how popular the map becomes.

UI radar are immersion breaking and basically cheating, but this guy will tell you verbally if someone is there on your right. Download, install, select Asseto Corsa in game list, press "Start application" and it should work!

The quest 3 with virtual desktop can use its cameras to emulate upper body tracking (elbows + chest). This is very good for the chest, and okay but very smoothed for elbows.

Not having a chest tracker makes it harder to pretend to be a girl since your pelvis won't move independently from your ribcage.

I find 6 trackers a giant pain in the ass, but at the same time I also sort wish I had an extra 2 trackers for foot tracking. Thigh and lower leg trackers tend to slide around a lot, especially if you are overweight. I've been on a strict diet for the past few months and have lost weight but it will likely be a lot more time dieting before I can be a healthy weight again

My thinking on the matter is to consider how long you plan to do activities with the trackers once you are strapped up. If you spend 30 minutes setting it all up and troubleshooting problems then 5 minutes posing for some photos or whatever, kinda not worth it, but if you keep them on for hours and aren't fat, then it's awesome and 100% worth it.

I'm working on scraping all the public metadata about vrchat worlds. I got fed up trying to wrangle their stupid search for the last time. The actual worlds API actually only lets you query the last 1000 worlds too (per search term or recent), with no other way to go back further by date, only random stabs in the dark with text queries. Luckily, some nip has been running vrcw.net for a while, so I scraped that site instead, at least to get the world ids, then I'll scrape the actual API for full details.

I'm about half done (was actually 100% done but I accidentally half the results when processing, oops). Here's an interim plot of uploads per month; the spike in August 2023 is I think an artifact of vrcw's scraper being down or wrong, not an actual spike. I'll post the raw dump of vrcw.net once it's done (will take another day or so, my scraper is being nice).

Once I get to scraping the actual vrchat API, I should be able to keep up with uploads as they happen myself. It's "only" ~250 worlds uploaded per day. And then I'll make some extremely trendy search site with like tantivy or meilisearch and it'll be way better than actual vrchat. And then I dunno, slap patreon ads on it or some shit. We'll see.

I did have grander plans to scrape the actual assetbundles too, as a sort of archiveteam-like project to save all those worlds from oblivion once vrchat reaches full enshittification and the investors pull the plug. They started encrypting the cache recently though, so that's a lot harder to do. Oh well, there's not actually that much value in saving all those fucking chill hangout apartments. They will be lost to time, like tears in rain.

Yeah setting up a paypal biz account and moving the money immediately out to a bank account is usually the way. Paypal has basically no real checks if you are an actual registered biz and you can put whatever. If you go over a certain amount of income they may ask questions/lock the account/report it to the IRS but generally as long as you keep it low key it's basically just paypal but you can set it as the business name instead of your real name transfers. That said most of the people here who do commissions just don't care since usually the person sending money is mutually doxxing themselves. If you're really lazy about it just ask for payment in your crypto of choice, most people have some sort of app that can convert and send to wallets.

Here's my script if you want to use it, you'd need bash shell for it though (you can get git bash on windows and it'll work well enough). First argument is filename, other is resolution scale in "<sth>:-2" format. I usually use smaller resolutions to maintain some degree of quality, so something like 900:-2 works well for most of the videos. You'll need ffmpeg and python in your environment. It automatically adjusts to 4mb limit.

It does not, in fact, work. Go to a public world and count the number of people who're wearing anything other then very poors if they uploaded it themselves. Every avatar creator, Booth and otherwise, has given up on trying to make optimized avatars that fit within the limits VRC has set because getting under 70k polys is extremely limiting compared to the rest of the guidelines and there is an expectation of quality that can't really be met within those limits, especially when put next to everyone else who's very poor and proud. This in turn means that the VRC system of blocking avatars based on performance metrics doesn't work because if you block very poors, that's 90% of avatars and so you either accept everyone being a robot and only showing your friends, or show everyone, aggressively cull based on distance and hope that download size works as a psuedo metric to catch the worst offenders.

The funniest thing is that the 70k meme number is no longer even relevant because I'm fairly certain Unity fixed the bug related to blendshapes and number of polys where it caused a massive issue, but VRC is too lazy to define newer guidelines and as such no one bothers to respect them at all.
