I think the bigger elephant in the room is that VR ain't the same that it used to be in 2018 or even in the last 5 years for that matter.
When I joined vrg instances back in 2021 there was something going on EVERY day with a fairly large margin of folk online.
Nowadays most folk don't get on VR until the weekend, and even then it's mostly just to catchup with folks and shoot the shit with pals.

Played bit more of the Deadpool. The tutorial level was really easy but after you get to the hub you can crank difficulty up and enemies actually start hitting and doing damage. Combat is still mostly waglan but all the little combos you can do with different weapons are nice. Still way too many cutscenes and dialogue.

Have you used GPU progressive? It is faster unless you did something wrong or are trying to bake something ridiculous. It does get "stuck" but that's only the progress bar not updating through certain processes. I have tried bakery many times over the years, and it never didn't brick the lighting in my world. My default baking was getting stuck for sure, had scenarios along the lines of baking a basic empty box world for over an hour, then same thing was running within a minute in a different project. But I've never solved this problem, so I don't know the cause and cannot really say for sure that I wasn't doing something ridiculous in the process. Bakery gives me roughly same wait time every time unless a new big location is added, didn't got any similar issues even once so far, so I consider it far more reliable.

If you've got broken lighting in Bakery, keep in mind that it uses its own flavor of lights component and such. Many materials and booth assets are explicitly claiming they're bakery-friendly, so maybe some other materials are not good for Bakery, though I've never got any issues witth any materials. It just works for me.

How did it 'brick' the lighting for you?

sounds like a fringe case with your install if that issue keeps happening, it makes sense bakery would bypass whatever is going on but I warn you that it will fuck you over at some point. One thing I have found is that unity lightmapper doesn't like huge distances and objects, but that usually only matters if you are going over the limits of sane proportions.

lots of cases of the lighting data getting corrupted, or just misconfigured, suddenly after many iterations, making me have to re do everything with unity lightmapping. It has a real tendency to choose the worst time for it too.

Few weird bugs. Sometimes the loading screen gets stuck, and you have to hit "any" key on desktop. When you load back into VR, the player view is like, desync'd from the game. Your head flips around rapidly, spins etc. It's weird though because after like 10 seconds it slowly starts to sync up and then returns to normal.
Like your robot is too drunk and rips the dart too hard and then gets the spins but you fight it off and recover before you spew.

Wrong. Amount of bones is cpu heavy. Amount of materials tank your draw calls eating a lot of cpu and gpu performance, if you use more than 80.megabytes of vram youre a leech, 80 people should not take more than 8 gigs, 12-16 gb of vram people can run all avatars + world.
And there a very important not metered thing - animator layers amount and overall animator performance. Aome avatars have so much shit they can easily take 5-8 ms per frame on cpu just to process the shitty animator

Pic related is Kanata. With no clothing, no piercings, no rings, just the body and the hair.
Anything you could shave of with deleting meshes you would ad again with ANY outfit, no matter how optimized the outfit is.
You would need to get rid of 17k (still no outfit) to even be considered not "very poor". And then you have to get rid of whatever you ad with the outfit.

Runs pretty meh, only got 90fps at 1200x1200 with 3080ti on almost lowest game settings (plus 100% render res, obviously no AA/DLSS/upscales). But framerate is really consistent, I think you'll be able to run it at 1600x1600 or so.

I find the game absolutely delicious, we finally have a sim that WRC never was. It looks way prettier, handling feels like a proper sim, cars handle in such a completely different manner that running through the game in Delta Integrale and running it in 037 are pretty much two entirely different games. Also, couple times I was caught off guard with how game suddenly reproduces handling quirks that so far I've only experienced in real life rather than in sims. It's also way more polished, even in this early access state it already shines with graphics, pace notes, consistent performance, and absolutely brilliant handling. This game is the second biggest blessing of 2025 for me, I'm honestly, genuinely, properly hyped for the future.
