Speaking of getting bigmemed, I'm getting more annoyed with my USB audio device popping every few minutes. When I talked to support about a year ago, they sent me a new cable and that made it better... But it seems to be back. I think someone made a mod for it that uses the index strap that has a small battery for the DAC but idk if i can just get the dac. Air Link is a free program and comes with your Quest. But then you'll be using Meta's garbage software.
Steam Link is also a free program and is probably the easiest in terms of if you just want to connect to your computer to play Steam games.
Virtual Desktop is a third-party paid program which usually looks better visual quality wise compared to the free alternatives

It's because it's a camera so it shows exactly where the scope is pointing from any angle. It makes it impossible to form a coherent two eyed image because it's equivalent to having poor eye sight in one eye and having it point in the wrong direction.

From memory when I keep both eyes opened and use the pavlov scope the snipe overlay reticle is "mostly" on target if it's close to medium range then it shift slightly to the right.
In contractors even in medium range it's massively shifted to the right. TAVR is the only one where it feels just right. I don't know the specifics of how everything is coded and if there's issues with IPD.

godot meme game jam progress. I have pretty much the full gameplay now. wind up the anime grills, switch between them at different scales, do some incredibly exciting platforming and open the door. wa la. "we have a fisherman's tale at home" (it is a pretty good VR escape room game if you haven't played it, worth $3 on sale)

The hand tracking positions are a bit fucked for reasons I can't tell yet, but the finger tracking from index does work, and probably from zucc headsets too since it uses the same openxr interface.

Now that it's the weekend I'm hoping my wagie environment artist pulls through with actual assets. But if not I'm going to submit it as is, and to slop up some "DLSS5 OFF/ON" meme screenshots.

At runtime, performance is fine, though I obviously ain't pushing it here. It's vulkan though, with single pass stereo. you can even do foeveated stuff too, probably. In editor, performance is actually better IMO, no more waiting for "domain is completing" every time you make a code change.

XR tools is.. medium cooked I'd say. It does a fair amount of what you need like player movement and pickups, and its all open sores so you can just extend it (with slop agents or by hand). If you've used the old steamvr unity sdk or unity's own XR tools, it's basically the same level of functionality. I did have to write all the integration with IK and hand tracking to make full body humanoid avatars work though. You just get floating hands in xr tools otherwise. That's essentially what I used this gamejam for: proof of concept for anime grills but in godot.

Overall I'd say godot is quite viable for VR games. It'll hurt you in other ways than unity but once you get used to it it gets out of your way. and being open sores and current year, if something about it annoys you, point the slop agent at the godot source code and make a custom build (I'm using one here with a few patches to make the mirror work). Can't do that with unity.

As someone who thinks meeting in real life is fundamentally the opposite of what a virtual reality community should be doing, it wasn't the primary driving force for cliquification. It's not like the other timezones haven't have meetings it real life too. There was a huge drama just one month after the first meetup in VRchat over people making exclusive instances that, by definition, not everyone was invited to and really made clear what the popularity hierarchy was.

The main difference from America with other timezones is that the people with influence advertise their activities in the thread which continues to draw different parts of the community that would otherwise become estranged together. America has some of this, but it was too little, too late; those entrenched in multiple exclusive servers have no interest in anything that happens elsewhere anymore.

It is an unnatural state to keep participation available to such a large group when the benefits of exclusivity can be so great for those within it. The loss of some of these regular activities would result in a collapse where everyone ends up in exclusive circles and everything posted in the thread gets minimal participation. That is what happened for NA: certain lobbies went from too full to even hold everyone trying to get in to having two participants almost immediately. Meeting in real life is just one small part of a much greater behavior.

Sign Meet is up, and remember that next week is european daylight savings, so any NAs confused by sign meet being an hour later these past few weeks, know that next week will return to normal once the euros join us in daylight savings time.

VrchatHoldem/HoldemGame (suggested scale of 0.8): Add as many tables as you want. I recommend a winner timeout value of 10s, and an action timeout value of 15-20s.
VrchatHoldem/VRChatHoldemPlayerObject: Add a single object per world. I recommend keeping the default values.
VrchatHoldem/UncMode/UncModeButton: Add one per HoldemGame prefab. "High visibility mode". Select holdemgame reference for it to work.
VrchatHoldem/Welfare/WelfarePrefab: Button for getting welfare money. I recommend putting 100-250 in cash granted, with a cooldown of 5-10 mins
There's also a welfare fortune wheel for those particularly addicted to gambling.

Common caveats:
min bet is 50, if you cant grab the chips, its because youre under it.

To use the 'i-recognize-that-bulge', or shimapan card back, update the material VrchatHoldem/Materials/PokerCardDefault texture with one of the shimapan-* ones in VrchatHoldem/Textures.
