Man my index is really starting to show its age, it's randomly getting some weird obscure bugs that can't really be explained and the hardware logs from steam don't really show anything either

SteamOS being "locked down" doesn't matter much so long as it lets you use your home dir as you please. Between AppImages, Guix, Nix, Brew and DistroBox there are plenty of ways to install whatever software I need.

Main problem with devving on a phone is the screen size rather than computational freedoms. For the frame screen size isn't an issue, but it might be an issue typing, although you could hook a BT keyboard to it and type away.

The controls and AI feel a bit off to me, BUT the customization FUCKING ROCKS. I spent like 20-30 minutes just remaking gearsets I use in Tarkov hahaha. I was very pleased I could wear the NZ flag on my rig/helmet as well. The NVG is really neat as well I like how it is actually like looking through a single or dual tube instead of having all 4 on one eye, it's a bit uncomfortable but I think it's cool.

After visiting the figurine world I had a cool idea for a world gimmick, but it seems like something that should already exist:
3 set of rooms, scaled by 10x, 1x and 0.1x, respectively. Players are in the 1x scaled room, and can see a tinier version of themselves on the 0.1x room, and if they look upwards, they should see a 10x version of themselves.
The illusion would work by using a set of 2 cameras and by creating 2 "portals" on the ceiling of the rooms. Now, is anyone familiar of a similar concept already existing? sizefags worlds don't count btw, these have a completely different purposes.

You can do hardcoded http requests, or http requests entered by users. You can download text/json, images, videos. With some creativity people managed to stream meshes, gaussian splats, infinite image galleries, collectible card deck data and art into VRCHAT maps.
You cannot generate urls in runtime though, its done to preserve users privacy (you could collect their posture data otherwise for example)

Couple notes: Your wheel doesn't look like it has force feedback, so experience might not be ideal. Plus getting a quest 2 working well on PCVR simracing is often challenging because of the video bandwidth requirements for the headset. You'll want to get a dedicated wifi AP for it or use a wire.

As long as drivers for this thing are still alive on your current OS, any racing game will let you use the wheel. Assetto is safest bet, it's the biggest sim around content-wise.

G29 is the usual entry level wheel; look used for good deals since the hardware is solid enough and barely used enough by most that used is basically just as good as new, functionally.
If you price up a bit you can find some really decent direct-drive wheels for really not that much more which are (quite a bit) nicer, but only really recommended if you already know you're going to like driving.

GT7 is PS5 only so no-one plays it. I have no idea if it's good or not

G29 is probably the safest bet for a cheap wheel that does nothing particularly wrong. The way it goes is basically

If you like cars and you think you'd enjoy racing, don't think twice, it's pretty much guaranteed 1000h+ of fun before you feel like you have enough. There's endless Assetto content, there are great rally games, there's iRacing if you actively enjoy feeling stress, casual solo runs and public nurburgring servers in nearly every sim, competitive racing, it just never ends.
