The Fashion Club is a newly started (hopefully recurring) meet focused on making outfits that aren't the standard casual, sexy, tactical, etc. The goal is to build a wardrobe full of great outfits that are not skimpy(without good reason), follow a theme, and that you'd want to wear anytime and anywhere, including public instances. The given themes will be very vague or broad, allowing club members to freely interpret their design based on a loose idea to prevent uniformity(like bunny suits or tactical gear). Meets are planned for possibly once a month, once every two months, or once a quarter.

The theme for this first meet is Adventurer, typically the medieval fantasy type but any interpretation is allowed as long as the first thought by anyone on seeing this outfit is without a doubt "that's an adventurer". Don't forget your weapons, your trinkets, anything you might need on a quest. Bonus points for interactive weapon gimmicks. It does not matter how you made the outfit, if you got an outfit on booth, kitbashed, the final result matters.

There is no contest(unless the people want one). Show up, show off, see what others have made, take pictures.

Anyone is free to join to show off or spectate, but there is one restriction on the final design:
- You must be at least modestly dressed and show no skimpy features(that means no chainmail bikinis).

Mahjong has the illusion of options, its like if you played mtg, and forced your opponent to manually play out every step of a combo whose primary loop involves milling their whole deck one card at a time with a 4 step mill loop. Yes you have an opportunity to respond now, but the question was only ever "Can you stop this combo from killing you?" and that either happens at the end or happens when they demonstrate the loop.

Your real only option is to make the least losing discard. There is an objectively correct tile to discard, in a hand close to tenpai it is trivial to identify, and a hand that is far from tenpai has so many variables that random selection has better odds of choosing the correct tile than even a mid-level player operating at a reasonable pace. Stage of the round plays a factor, but I would not say "Can I reasonably finish my hand before the round ends in a draw or someone luckier than me completes their hand?" is not a particularly interesting question in my book.

You could fix this by lowering the hand size to something manageable like 5. Maybe also change how melds get counted so melds of different sizes and having multiple melds matter. We can add meaningful public and private information by having part of the hand come from a communal pool, and the players are dealt a partial hand. Sequences of 3 are a little too common at this rate, and melds are rare, so lets cut 3/4 tiles and remove the matching suit requirement; sequences now need 5.

There won't be any individual draws or discards because that is part of the tediousness, so each player gets 2 tiles, and a community pile of tiles in the middle. You add one tile to the pile after priority passes each round. You're passing priority because before the initial tiles are placed you're allowed to call richii, and you're allowed to call richii as many times as you like. Hands don't have points, but if you call richii the most and nobody is willing to match you, you win on the spot.

There's a reason poker is more popular nearly everywhere on earth outside of china/small parts of asia. It's a more fair game with much more controlled rng and a large component of social deduction. You can win with a string of shit hands and lose with a string of excellent hands based entirely on your own skill. The more skilled player will win the vast majority of the time and the skill transition between beginner and apex is infinitely smoother than Mahjong. It is a more fluid game that you get rng fucked an order of magnitude less.

Winning hands are simpler, the rules do not require a two hour youtube video to enter entry level, and you can come in/out at will while scaling the table size as low as 2 or as high as 6+ without fucking up the flow of the game.
