I did test other options, 128 per WORKER is entirely doable but then the limits isn't the server but the actual client performance. With the custom models and fullbody IK even 32 is gonna hammer your frametimes. If everyone was simple optimised MDL with simplistic animations and basic 3 point IK I could easily crank the numbers to some absurd levels.

But I also sort of designed the core "gamemode" around the lockdown mechanic and forced spread of players. Most of the maps are admittedly ugly but functional from gameplay perspective and it literally tracks ongoing campaign live in game and with simple persistent player data. I do every outfit as a separate upload, and with a modern booth with a single hairstyle and a basic outfit is 100k tris. Well, nothing for the frame yet, but there are plenty on the Quest. The quest sdks even have stuff like automatic management of shared spaces between multiple headsets at a time and a lot of very useful features for that. desu I expect it'll be a long time before the frame catches up to the MR tech that you get out of the box when developing on quest.

Sloppa breakthrough - since it's safe to assume that not everyone will be in FBT with face and eye tracking when playing I devised 50:50 budget split and and all players that are just 3 point with no eye/face will reuse cached animations and IK transforms. Then just completely disable IK of occluded avatars locally and reuse the worker payload system to sync it in burst when avatar is rendered. Might cause some funny effects but with a bit of headroom, 32 players per arena should be entirely possible. I shall slop some more.

I'm trying to have a contact sender that follows a constrained object, I can see that object follows the constraint correctly because visually it looks perfectly fine with some debug boxes flying around, but contact position doesn't update and doesn't follow the changes made by a constraint. I saw some workarounds involving different parenting, but nothing worked so far.

GXR has had very little in the way of improvements or updates since it came out. Stock comfort also sucks, need globular cluster mod at the very least. At worst It may be unusable without cutting off the front portion since it can't swivel like the QPro.

GXR can do everything the steam frame can plus extra plus better screens, but has worse controllers. They aren’t awful as Reddit and YouTube might make you believe, but the frame has objectively the best tracking for non lighthouse controllers right now.

That said, the controllers are a $250 extra purchase. You do get a discount if you buy them at the same time but that’s still an MSRP of $2050 for the set, which is $1000 more than the frame. There's zero reason to buy a Frame in 2026 for the price they're asking. The GXR has issues, but fundamentally, the 90hz 4k OLED panels do work and work well. The eye and face tracking also is very good. Don't pay sticker price, but with a 20 to 30% discount which is very easy to get, it's a hefty upgrade from the Q3 which I would say is the best value headset and the best of the lower tier before you move up to the GXR as an enthusiast headset.

The big asterisk that I would give, and I use mine as my daily driver for almost a year now, is that the controller and controller tracking kinda suck dick and you will have a much more pleasant experience with a hybrid setup with Index Knuckles. This goes for even basic things like playing Walkabout, though funnily enough for VRC it's not as big a deal because you don't need to be precise. This isn't a huge problem right now if you're coming from an Index, but I'd also personally like to move away from lighthouses when Fluxpose or some similar product outmodes Vive Trackers and still being stuck with Knuckles then would be an annoyance as well as a time bomb since the Knuckle supply will run dry someday.

I haven't seen a review of DLSS5 on a VR game and its impacts to framerate.
A proper VR should have a high resolution and decent fps.
There's a bunch of vids showcasing Skyrim with DLSS5, both as vanilla and with heavy modlists. Maybe one of them would also show fps with DLSS5 on and off.
I would recommend installing mods that improve face models of NPCs to maximize the effect of DLSS5 on them. Maybe textures in general for everything else and let DLSS5 improve on it.

While I'm not familiar with how strong a 5070ti is compared to my 4070ti super, I can run DLSS5 at 120fps on FF14 at 1080p. My GPU's average load doubled with DLSS5 and framegen. The method I used also made my game run much smoother with lesser temps on my CPU since my GPU is now working harder.

This map was simple but had the hand of a human involved. The end had a nice message. (It's in turkish I had to translate it)
