this guy is 2D, so you'd need to find some 3d model equivalent and then customize it to add necessary stuff. look around booth for a body base or avatar that makes sense in terms of body size and style, then you'll probably want to add your own props and clothes if you want it to be convincing. Not too much of a hopeless case in this one, seems doable with some skill. It's nice how he has no face, makes a lot of the process easier.

Aradia would be super easy to make due to booth parts availability, but as for your choice, you'll struggle to find anything that fits the idea. I can't think of any avatar that would have this body type.

Lower resolution, limit how many avatars are shown absolutely. I had constant crashing issues on windows mixed reality until I turned off hardware accel'd gpu scheduling for example, so there could be a lot of issues that are causing it outside of resolution and avatars.

It is getting pretty good.
Right now I'm having it help me design a 3D print holder for hotswappable batteries for the Frame.
Been using a belt battery with a cable running up to the headset until now but want to see if I can just put it on the headset without it occurring too much extra weight and strain.
It'll be around 200g with the battery so we'll see.

I suggest this to everyone I see post about motion sickness in vr: Get bonine motion sickness pills. I took them for two days and haven't had to since. Before taking these pills I'd get nauseous just standing still in VR, even getting the sweats. Now I teleport all over and play flight sims with no issues.

With the Quest 2 I just ran a line down to a pocket where I kept a power bank. With the Quest 3 I have the Bobo VR strap. Downfall is all that weight is on the head. Mine with a battery is 1033 grams. Compare that to the Meta VR glasses which are 100 grams.

That is exactly what I'm going to do, only I'm putting the velcro on the 3d printed part instead of the battery.
It's just a brace to better hold the battery in. It can curve around the edges of the battery pack as opposed to if you tried sticking velcro on a battery and putting it on the back, it'd only stick in the center where it's completely straight.

That's what I'm doing now, but I want to see if I can completely eliminate the wire. The battery I have is around 163g which doesn't sound too awful on paper to add to the weight of the headset, but it may cause it to be too backheavy now, will have to see.

I got really bad motion sickness first playing VR. Red Matter on Quest 2 PCVR destroyed me. Though I was running it with a GTX 1070. Yeah playing helped me get used to a little, but the biggest thing that helped was building a new PC with a RTX 4070 super. Later I upgraded to a 5070 ti and it greatly helped my motion sickness, because most of it was caused by micro stutter and low frame rates.

Other parts of motion sickness is caused by eye strain (use eye drops prior to putting the headset on and additional when taking a break), being too hot (bobo vr strap with a fan helps, but you may need a standing fan), empty stomach (oddly enough a full stomach helps with motion sickness and an empty stomach makes it worse).

They're the worst combination of IMU and SLAM tracking because it's very easy to fuck them up since they seem to give priority to the SLAM tracking instead of trusting the IMUs more, so if you occlude the cameras or they're dealing with something like being to close to a wall, they freak the fuck out. It's not a bad idea, though 600 dollary doos for 3 is also expensive as fuck, but they don't work as well you might hope because Vive is retarded.

A lot of people seem to feel that having any sort of wire coming from the headset (even if it's just going to a battery in your pocket) defeats the whole purpose of going wireless. every time i exit a VR game it crashes and takes Steam with it.
sometimes the process refuses to die and takes my audio output hostage and i have to literally reboot my computer to get audio back.

Your computer is most likely defaulting to the Steam Steaming Speakers (pic related).
The solution is simple, just change the output device to your usual audio output device.
It should automatically do this for you but it sounds like your SteamVR is fucked given the other issues.

Too early to say.
The updates so far haven't exactly been huge and a lot of the work is coming from 3rd parties vibecoding sloppa.
And it's not that their sloppa is bad, it does baselevel stuff you want it to do, it's just not yet as polished as Quest Pro's eyetracking.

But in terms of what it's like having 3rd parties able to develop shit for your headset instead of that closed off Quest ecosystem?

Mochi is good, though exact performance depends on the profile you have for target and source avatars. I can blender anything and i often settle for mochifitter + unilattice combo, it's just good enough. You can also use mochi in old mode and have output as .fbx for further blender processing, which is the most reasonable way to go around it in my book, general ballpark and all of the tedious work is done by mochi and you're simply fixing up some vertices and perhaps a touch of weight paints.

No. But VRC doesn't sell headsets or accessories that matter to VR as a technology either seeing as half of playerbase clings to Index when it was obsolete on release already and other half is just using Quest 3.
