It might assume they are lounging but would probably do a good job, depends on how much weight you assign to spinal position around 90deg.

+ the index headspeaker things have a ton more low end than the earbuds i was using (rift headphones snapped off, plus the right audio would have likely been fucked by now despite that) . dunno if it's strictly accurate, but unga bunga me like bass
+ the tiny menu buttons on the knuckles are impossible to accidentally hit while playing
- the tiny menu buttons are impossible to hit period, hard to pause without just failing the song fumbling around
- knuckles are heavy as shit, or at least not balanced like the touch controllers are. I can't flail near fast enough to beat 200+ pp songs anymore, now my babby wrists hurt
- knuckles in general just feel subpar compared to the comfy touch controllers. They're too big, my hands hurt, I don't want to plug them in the charge, etc etc. I miss my physical grip button.
- screen fov is marginally better, but still binoculars. That's pretty much all i was expecting from 100->130deg though.
- SDE is almost gone, but pixels still visible, especially when trying to read text
- the lens glare (or god rays, or whatever) is really annoying. It feels worse than the rift even, but maybe just my bias.
- no easy green cross for ipd calibration and headset adjust like rift. I think I have it dialed in, but it still feels a bit off.
- steamvr desktop view is as awful as I remember. fucking backspace key doesn't work, my two monitor screens are stretched way wide across the view
- headspeakers are loud, i'll be self conscious now of sound leakage.

I think the closest you'll get is the OpenVR-Advanced-Settings in the OP, that gives you statistics on how far your headset/hands travel, velocity, etc. It's an inexact science converting that to calories anyway. https://vrhealth.institute/ has some data on calorie burn of specific games they measured, might be helpful.

It's definitely a luxury product, the lexus to oculus' toyota. It's not shitty by any means, but it's so far so marginal over the rift cv1 that I can't shill it to somebody new to VR (especially since you can't even get it before september) over the rift S or used cv1/vive or odyssey+.

Once price drops to around $500 or $600 again, I think that'll be time to buy in, though at that point, the rift S will probably be $300.

Going to be ordering a Rift S soon, and want to pick up a few games while the Steam sale is on. Was mainly looking at Onward, either Skyrim or Fallout 4, and maybe Job Simulator for the hell of it.

the rift controllers are fantastic for a very simple reason. they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel.

the vr specific logistics of hand positioning (point to point, fingergun to fingergun etc) aside, (which is still impressive) they simply took a look at a generic console controller, and just split it in 2.

if you put both touch controllers next to each other, they practically look like a Playstation controller.

all they did was they split the traditional 4 face buttons + 2 menu buttons, across both controllers. Why fix what isn't broken.

meanwhile the vive wands were the result of valve STILL trying to shill the stupid haptic pads from the steam controller, and not really realizing that ergonomics matter. And Windows mixed reality simply copied that format since it was way cheaper to develop than the oculus' pseudo finger tracking.

hell, there's a reason the Index even has finger tracking and it's to try and one up the touch controllers. They saw the touch controllers were universally well received compared to the vive dildos, so they just took that as a base target and went from there.
