Lazy procrastinating lurker here. Came across this streamable a few threads/days ago: https://streamable.com/n4bjx and noticed the FFXI (Final Fantasy XI) world. Finally google'd FFXI VR yesterday and came across a proper video showcasing it and immediately became pic related from nostalgia etc. I haven't cared enough to use VRC so far, though I have VR for a few years now, but looks like it finally got me. Might use it just to relax in these. So a few questions as I haven't used VRC before.

1) For those familiar with it; list of the names of FFXI worlds or the creators? Also any worlds with related avatars?
2) Any public avatar I can get right away that has some sort of flying and how to use it? I saw in a video one guy zooming around with a jet pack or something but this probably isn't a basic function of the game or is it? Just for viewing purposes. Also saw jumping.
3) Rift or Steam ver? I'm using Rift but I remember sometime back (might be years now) something about there being a bug on the Rift ver specifically. So which of the two is less buggy/more stable to use right now?
4) Any settings/security stuff I should be aware of beforehand? Seen people mention some sort of hacking/dox stuff before through hacked clients. Should I create a throwaway account for this? Not sure if I'll stay using VRC but just in case.

The question is a little too general and I'm not sure how to answer it. I use ACIIL's Unity Chan Toon Shader v2 for this model, and set up the textures in a corresponding spot (alpha textures for alpha, normalmap to normalmaps, diffuse to default texture, etc). Theres a lot of different shaders you could probably use like Poyomi's Toon Shader to achieve the same effect, and they generally have guides attached that explain what all of the adjustments do. You may have to play around with the settings for a while though to get something you're happy with.

Pushing video over wifi adds about 70ms of latency, feels like you're playing sober but move drunk. However the latency was tolerable, just adjust play style and don't take 1v1 peeks. Aiming requires some getting used to too as you track in real time but see it 70ms later.

The real problem was how the stream would drop frames or become blocky mess sometimes in high movement situations like when you see a guy and both open fire. Lowering the target bitrate helps but quality starts to tank real quick. I tried to capture it but it isn't as visible in screenshots. Your both eyes basically get different artefacting making things look a bit weird. Everything is kind of blurry and soft too and some of the sights are hard to see on low bitrates.

Playing truly wireless was very liberating though. Slower games like VRChat suffer much less from the streaming and you can use higher bitrates. Getting a better wifi could shave a bit off from the latency and I guess they'll improve on the streaming over time.

Couldn't get Quest microphone work with ALVR but I guess it's a matter of time before it gets to working state. Hybrid FBT setup worked pretty fine except for drifting when trackers get occluded. Oculus Link is so gonna obsolete WMR and Rift S.

I hope Valve takes a hard look on the quality of Quest's tutorial, VR Home UI and Room Setup. Oculus is doing them so much better it's not even funny. Too bad there wasn't a quick screenshot button though.

it's pretty good. In the sense that all assassin's creed games are good. There's a bunch of VR shit you could do better in other games, but it's all in one game. It's limited by it's setting, as I, for one, don't care for swords & sorcery shit. also it's huge (170GB) and loads like shit if it's not on an SSD.

I'm closing in on 100% on Asgard's Wrath, and will give my in-depth review after. I'm not much of a number score guy but if I was to sum up where it stands by holding it to the standards of flat games I would probably say the 7.5 out of 10 range at least. it's a very good game over all, but compared to the quality of the VR market it is the best game out buy a mile until Stormland comes out

Just watched it and some of his other videos. It seems like you can waggle a bit but the later enemies don't allow you enough time to get multiple waggle-type hits in on them each time. If they were just dumb enemies without shields and swords, it seems like you could waggle it, but the window to waggle for enemies that do have shields and swords is tiny enough that I'm not sure you'd be able to pull off waggle there.

Asgard Wrath combat is atrocious. The weapons aren't physics entities and thus the attacks of NPCs and yourself literally have no weight behind them. When they slash, the game just checks if your blade is within the right place and then plays the blocked attack animation. There's no visual of your blades or shields connecting like pic related. Plus the bodies don't stay.

It's wagglan compared to Blade and Sorcery.
