Another update: I said fuck it, imported the textured .obj/.mtl and started rigging a new skeleton by hand. I currently have the hand blades offset to the forearm bone (they fold out, pic related for reference), would there be a better way of doing this so I can have them tucked in the model arms by default and set an animation to fold them out?
Also, how can I get the foot properly rigged with the tippy-toe structure without it breaking?

Not OP, but I'd use the "point to target" edit tool in blender 2.8+, put the target somewhere in the center of the head and reverse the normals so they're all pointing outwards from the target. You can also use "spherize" to retain some of the actual geometric normals if you want. https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/2.80/modeling/meshes/editing/normals.html

I edited the default VRChat locomotion animation layer to both disable the walking animation when I'm crouched and also allow it to be toggled off when I'm at normal height.

How to use:
1. Disable the "Force Locomotion animations for 6 point tracking" option.
2. Set your base animation layer to the provided controller.
3. Optionally: Use the provided expression menu and parameters files, or add the parameter to your existing one.

One minor issue exists: there is a small delay between you stopping movement and the animation ending. This is because the VelocityX and VelocityZ parameters are smoothed and do not actually reach 0 the moment you stop. You can observe this delay by using the debug menu.

It usually looks better when you use normals from a copy of the face with smoothed out extremities as opposed to a sphere, as the shadows still reflect the shape of the face while still removing the doll-shadows.

The colour on a model is usually in a regular png file so that kind of task is a 6 million hours in gimp tier task. Depends a bit on the model's material setup though. Sometimes they don't have textures and just use a colour setting on the shader and have a bunch of other effects to make it look like it has texture. Picked myself up a copy of H3VR.

Seems like a really solid game, but I have an Oculus Rift and the control schemes are beyond shitty.

The best controls I've found are the same as Pavlov; left stick is moving, right stick is smooth left/right turning. However, you can have a stick do that, OR that hand can interact with a gun. Every time I want to reload and hit the bolt release or drop a magazine, I have to disable left/right turning. You also can't pick up objects remotely (i.e point at an object within a meter and it comes to your hand) unless you disable movement for that controller as well.

Its bizarre and totally ruins it. Anyone found a better way?

There is no good control scheme, arm swinging is closest to good but still not what you should expect from a 2020 VR game. Face buttons for snap turn also feel gross.

its been awile since I was playing with vive wands. Its a similar story with disabling to use the gun controls. For the oculus controllers you have those extra buttons. A button on the left and right controller can be used for snap turn. That way you can dedicate the right stick for gun interaction. Not the best but thats what anton has. As for how I play now, I have index controllers with a wireless vive. No need to use smooth or
snap turn with twin stick for locomotion. Index has plenty of buttons for inputs.

The screen resolution of the Q2 is pretty good and it's LCD instead of OLED for more subpixels (at the expense of grey blacks), but it's a single panel so if you're IPD isn't right on one of their 3 settings it's going to be blurry and shit. Has anyone used MotherVR for Alien:Isolation?
I've been unable to get it to work. The game will launch in standard non-VR mode just fine but if I install MotherVR it will show a pop-up on launch saying "Welcome to MotherVR". Steam then says the game is running but no window appears and the process uses almost no resources. It will stay that way until I terminate the process.
I DO have -steamvr set in the launch options but it makes no difference whether it's there or not.

Very easy to do, you just need to tell the blocked person the exact head location and the facing direction as well as the fact that blocked people can see each others capsules and it's not hard to get good pictures. Wired is almost always asleep anyway plenty of time to set it up.
