They're forcing people with glasses to either buy shit that comes with every semi-decent headset available right now or get prescription lenses just for VR. Either way, people are forced, through no fault of their own, to spend additional money on top of an already fairly pricey (and you know it'll be expensive if it's from *pple) product. I've updated the 3.0 toggle loco controller again, the updated version is here:

This controller allows you to switch between locomotion animations and "floating" for FBT using the expressions menu. Note that this version requires the newest SDK.

If you're upgrading from a previous version you need to change the type of the "WalkDisabled" param to bool. Do this for the param file of each avatar using this new controller. Changes include instantly toggling your loco while moving, and switching to a bool parameter to save parameter bits.

If you haven't used a previous version of the controller, to set it up you need to:
- Drag and drop this controller into the "Base" layer in your 3.0 avatar controller
- DISABLE "Force locomotion animations for 6 point tracking" in your avatar controller!
- Add a parameter called "WalkDisabled" (case sensitive) to your param file with type Bool
- Set up a toggle on your avatar menu for that parameter

The public population is actually pretty healthy for a VR game. Pavlov is relatively dead around vrg though, unless you can make the EU hours lobbies and have fun on CS map ports.

Back in 2018/2019 vrg played a ton of pavlov and got pretty burned out on it, and there hasn't been enough turnover with new players to revive it. The WW2 patch was kind of fun for all of a 2 weeks, but now we're back to waiting for modders to come up with better maps for it.

I hosted Pavlov multiple times before the community server existed and did nothing but play against bots on default maps for 30 minutes before abandoning it. I tried to get interest in Contractors for months without any success until someone else decided to host it and immediately got a full lobby; I was not invited to the EU Contractors lobbies late last year, nor heard of them at all, and believed they were just a shitpost until someone confirmed they'd been running for months. I don't think it has anything to do with personality. For hosting games in the thread in general, I recommend stepping up your shilling game. There's a lot of extrinsic factors as well, both the low quantity of actually good multiplayer VR games, and the number of people who lurk this awfully undermoderated thread and board who again aren't already in their own "inner circle" friend group. I.e. don't take it personally, and keep trying.

Beat saber works really well because it focuses the movement on the parts of the body you can track. I bought the full Valve Index VR kit. Amazing, one of a kind experience. Can't go back to flat screens, works wonders for your usual VRChat and whatnot, but also great for 3D sculpting and design.
Then the fucking thing had some "Headset cannot be found" issue and the viewports don't work with steam VR or any program now. They only "turn on" as a monitor. So I tried every fix, to no avail. Now I filed a support ticket and requested a new headset. I waited 3 months for this, had it for one, then the fucking thing became a $1000 paper weight. Now it'll probably be more month long waiting for a new one, and they'll use shit FexEx to move it. So fuck Valve and their poorly QA tested prototype. They let me touch the sky then threw me down to the Earth.

On my first time playing (the new map), when I was well under equipped, out of ammo, surrounded by spider spawns and not sure which way was clear of anomalies, I died at the top of that hill. Then just now, coming back with the grail I die in the exact same spot. No ammo left, no knives, over encumbered but just a short dash to the fog, surrounded by the spider spawns and fragments I ran past on my way to the castle. Was old is new. Couldn't help but laugh after spending probably an in game week in the radius on that mission, killing god only knows how many mimics and sliders, then coming back to collect my corpse and seeing the grave marker glowing right in front of where I spawned in.
Somehow I never seem to be able to bring enough ammunition. Every high priority mission I am down to my last few shells or I've managed to scavenge a couple off corpses or crates just to get by and then every time I bring more and for stronger weapons but it's still never enough. The difficulty curve for each major mission is exponential and massive. I've found all the statues so I've only got one left now.

I've been really happy with my converted vive wands for FBT. I use one vive tracker for the hip and two vive wands for the feet. If you don't care about accurate foot tracking then you can easily strap the vive wands to your legs. I made my own straps for shoes specifically for the vive wands because I care about rotating the foot. It is pretty heavy but much better than nothing.
