/vrg/ - Virtual Reality General #1488

Vox Machinae lobby tomorrow at 18:00 UTC, I've not been able to host for a few sessions because my index cable cucked me so looking forward to some high impact robot violence.

Play Swords of Gurrah!

>>350418910 (OP)
quite a based op i must say

call him a fag and close the tab, you got games to play

>>350420008
I wouldn't mind playing today since the trash niggers are doing their thing again and there will likely not be much going on in VRChat because of it anyway. Anyone interested in playing tonight?

>>350421664
I've never tried it before, how do I join in? I have the game but never actually played it

>>350421664
I'd be game, I'll be busy for the next half an hour though before I could realistically bootup vr
>>350421752
Once you're in the main locker room/lobby area it has a server browser, anon will post the name and password when it's set up

>>350421752
When you open the game, you get to the room list by opwning the menu. When a lobby is up, you need to go to the right time zone and join the room owned by the guy who namedropped themselves here. You may need to do a short tutorial if you haven't played before.

Is it normal that avatars on booth don't list their rating? Are they all by default very poor?

>>350426104
Yes. boothniggers do not ever optimize their shit.

>>350426104
Most of them seem to be, although I remember some listing their rating on the shop page.

>When the Bioscanner don't show one of the scouts in the room behind the door.

>>350426104
Japs do not know how to optimize shit. I once saw an avatar with 20 mats.

When I get a booth, I nuke all the mats in blender and redo everything in Substance.

>>350426651
but this model is made by an american comic/game dev....

>>350426824
And it only had two mats.

>>350426104
The japanese had a hard enough time adopting unity, using blender as well is beyond them. They've set up their models so any changes can be done entirely in unity so they all have millions of mats and meshes that can be disabled and added to get the look you want. They also have tonnes of hacky dynamic bone collision scripts to get things to sit just right. Expect your booth model to be very poor in dynbone scripts, transforms, and collisions, poor in mesh and material count, and once set up properly very poor in light counts.

What is YOUR avatar rank, vrg? Don't lie, you are very poor too

>>350427339
very poor by 4k polys, id be medium without that.

I'm looking for a share please

>>350426651
i gotta up a guide on substance painter finally, seems way to useful

is there even a single booth artist/model creator who makes nice, optimized avatars?

>>350427339
Most of my stuff is good pref and the absolute worst being poor because I haven't finished the outfit yet to merge stuff

>>350427339
My avatar is poor rating

>tfw booth i use without optimising it is good

My birthday is coming up. You guys think we can hang out in VR for a little bit and just shoot the shit or something? Nothing special, just a couple of hours of hanging out or something.

>>350427339
I am excellent/good depending on which avatar I use.

>>350428165
Only hanging you need to do is yourself.

>>350431059
Yeah, it's my first day in VRC in years and all my old avatars are beyond scuffed so I just loaded a booth in

>>350431274
I mean, I could still host a lobby for EU if there are people still interested...

I used to aim for good, then comprimised on Medium for cool stuff.
Then realized no one else gives a shit so why should I? I try not to go overboard but Idgaf if im very poor nowadays, though will still switch to a more optimized avatar.

>>350434715
>>350436056
Haha, yeah imagine my surprise when it went off as I just missed it with the hammer.

>>350427339
My most used avatar is Poor because of too many meshes, I was very new to things when I made it and did it japanese style, unity only. All of my newer outfits are Medium or Good depending on number of dynamic bones.
Right now I'm on a lookout for a new comfy pajama-like outfit that I would like as much as my main one.

the 70k limit for very poor is actually pretty hard to get under in todays booth/mmd avatar meta
booth creators have long given up putting in the extra effort to slide under it and because they know they're going to be very poor anyway because of tri-count they just go all out on everything else too because features and details = more sales and high chance they're already very poor anyway

Talk about it to someone, not here in the thread because is gonna be worse for you.
I'm in the same position as you anon, you don't want it, but you can't stop thinking about that person, how they speak, how they move and react. My best advice is to slowly forget about it and let it go, because at the end, that person that you fall for, what do you know about them?

While a singleplayer "Dungeons" mode is in the works, right now the game is pretty much just a sandbox arena fighter with a bunch of different enemy spawn/AI/gear patterns. It has the best melee combat on the market though.

I'm not going to say it isn't because iirc B&S is also Unity-based.
That would be kinda weird though

https://gpsnmeajp.github.io/VirtualMotionTrackerDocument/
neat, a steamvr driver for virtual trackers that you can control with OSC (messages over udp/tcp), so you can do virtual tracking without implementing a whole driver. Seems useful for something, though i don't quite know for what yet.

>>350441812
None of your concern, little one.

Join the NA anime club in vrchat this evening to watch the following airing shows:

Kageki Shoujo!! Episode 10
Shiroi Suna no Aquatope Episode 9
Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai Episode 5

Look for a vrchat instance link in the thread to join shortly before we start.

Future episodes will be shown on Sundays and Wednesdays same time, including Maid Dragon S, Uramichi Onisan, and Pani Poni Dash.

Hey guys, I am trying to learn how to use unity and thus make models later on. I downloaded some premade models and I want to learn how to remove, totally kill, all dynamic bones in it. Is it possible to do in unity? If so, how do I do that? I cannot publish stuff because i am getting script errors related to dynamic bones. I guess I need to remove scripts somehow. Do I need a separate program for that?

>>350449149
you can search for gameobjects that reference the dynamic bones component in the hierarchy and delete them that way. https://github.com/rurre/PumkinsAvatarTools has a handy button to do it for you though, that's what I use.

>2007 happens
>massive social media platforms consume smaller communities en masse and the traditional forums and IRCs vanish basically overnight
>niche hobbies and interests become more and more drowned out by the overwhelming, inescapable tide of inane normalfag bullshit and systematic sanitization
>PC VR becomes public
>nerds and autists with lots of money flock to it and establish their own communities
>do nerd and autist things because the vast majority of longterm VR players are some variety of weirdo because you have to be some variety of weirdo to spend $2k to walk around with an eye-searing brick on your face
>normalfags immediately show up and cry about things being the way they are and have been
Why the fuck are you like this? Why are you so egotistical that you try to cram yourself into a space clearly not made for you and then blame the people who made it for not accepting you?

Most people here play VRchat and has a custom edited model. On top of that they also play VR games with the anime girl friends they made along the way.

people have been complaining about "normies" entering their hobbies and communities on the internet since literally the fucking 80s where people communicated through BBSes

>>350470563
>>350471348
The fall assumption is that you have to be a faggot in the process.
You can easily be a channer VR nerd without engaging in faggot vrchat interactions.

This whole cope that a 'normie' is invading your space is fucking hilarious. Normies dont even know /vg/ exists. They'll go as far as the vr reddits and stop there.

Boring, loud and only makes me think of the day I finally will jump infront of a train.

TOMORROW (9/6/2021) at 8pm CST (9pm est, 6pm pst) i'll be hosting a movie night.

We'll be watching MECHANICAL VIOLATOR HAKAIDER (人造人間ハカイダー, no idea why they westernized it like that).

It's directed by absolute kino-smith Director, Character Designer and Art Director Keita Amemiya (Director and character designer for Kamen Rider ZO, Kamen Rider Shin, Kamen Rider J, Jetman, Zeiram and creator of GARO). It's written by the best writer in Tokusatsu history, Toshiki Inoue (writer for: Kamen Rider Agito, Kamen Rider 555, Kamen Rider Kiva, like 10 seasons of Sentai, and a fuck load of anime I don't really know about)

It's fucking kino, please join me.

It's much likely to last longer if you talk about it with your fu. If you know for sure they wouldn't approve then you can just cut that desire out without worrying about it.

>>350510613

>>350511845
saying you want to fuck another person while being in a relationship that is considered closed is a breach of trust and a pretty terrible idea throughout, lusting somebody to the point of wanting to seek out advice on how to deal with it in an anonymous basket weaving forum is pretty fucked though, good luck handling that

>>350511078
You're a bad person.

If they're gonna get mad at you for feeling things then you should probably break up with them. You think "Yes this person is my VRfu" mentally prevents your body from lusting after others? It happens. How you deal with it as a couple will show you how strong your bond really is.

Just about everyone here uses VRC since it's a lot more personalised and most play VRC anyways so it's easier. Someone used to host movies here each week over 3 years ago but I haven't seen any real mention of it since then

>>350518395
bro....

>>350504026
Now I'm interested because I want to be self sufficent and struggle to do that on my own.

Are MMDs the easiest to set up/get working with VRchat? Trying to experiment with bringing in avatars and such but I don't know shit about blender or unity.

>>350518592
Yeah but isn't it very complicated to set up video playback in VRC? You have to stream it or something?

>>350518686
ngl i can buy it myself but being indebted to someone like this is kind of hot

>>350519413
The easiest are booth models, after that, MMD.

>>350519418
Nah you just upload the video somewhere like dropbox

>>350519592
Most booth models are already set up right? Some of them cost quite a bit though. Fug.

>>350520008
suck some dick and get into an assetcord or have someone give you the files

>>350520008
Some do, some are free. And vrlg has a few ready to upload booth models you can use. One of those is a good start.
You can remove or keep the lewd bits, it's up to you.

Can I just not be in VR and navigate to my anime folder and double click on a mkv file to being enjoying Vanitas straight away?

>>350522751
So does the one on the bottom~

>>350522947
Dropbox is a pain. The pros rent a VPS or something and then auto-encode mkvs to hardsubbed mp4 and upload it to a vps. From there it's copy paste into VRC.
I do this; it works well, but requires a little technical knowledge.

>>350522947
Idunno, does the video players accept direct file links to that format? If so i guess you could chuck up a webserver and just serve it

Python SimpleHTTPServer or apache if you bother

>>350522947
then pay for a server, it's what I do but this usage came in secondary
I download directly to the server, but then download them all to my machine just to use a graphical tool for reencode and then upload back on server
if ffmpeg wasn't such a pain in the ass I'd automate the process and wouldn't have to do anything at all
maybe one day

>>350523243
They very much do. It needs to be h264 encoded mp4 with hardcoded subs.

>>350522947
Host it in Neos then. You can open a filebrowser overlay and drag the video into the world.

>>350522947
You have to download them anyways so your first point is moot.
Your last point isn't even an issue too, literally just paste a link.
The only faff is reencoding and uploading which is braindead easy in not even sure what your problem is.
Either way, you do you. If you want to host something in bigscreen then why not do it?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. If it was this easy and based, all of you guys would be using it instead of hassling with VRC and servers and encoding and shit. What's the catch? Bigscreen sounds too good to be true.

It's a more personalised experience with custom avatars and custom worlds. There's also a bunch of worlds with hundreds or films, series and anime already there ready to watch without having to do anything yourself.
And most people already play vrc so they'll be more willing to come and hang out and watch something, and can stay and hang out and chat, chill, explore other worlds or play some games afterwards without pissing around launching other games and grouping up again.

>>350523951

>"our thread"

Could anyone help me out with my Quest please? I've had it since they were released and it has given me many hours of enjoyment, i've been using it wirelessly since before Airlink was a thing and been very pleased with it and when it did get official airlink support i've been using that and, again, very pleased with the result.

In the last two days however something has changed and the VR performance of it is absolutely unplayably bad, there's at least 40 seconds of delay between me moving a hand/moving my head/pressing a button and that thing actually being shown happening. But the scene in front of me is in real time, not lagging at all, I can't look around though because only what's meant to be visible to me is drawn and that's like I mentioned, on this 40 second delay thing.

Using a cable I don't have this problem so it's something to do with the wireless.
To bugcheck I have restarted my PC, my Quest and my modem and router. I have performed a factory reset on the Quest, I have reinstalled the wifi adapter drivers on my PC and made sure everything else is up to date. I have also checked all my network power saving settings, nothing seems wrong.

Could anyone offer any help regards this? Wireless play with my Quest has become genuinely unusable.

>>350525880
>wifi adapter drivers on my PC
hardwire the PC to your router

>>350525874
cut it out

>>350526129
I did test that by running an ethernet cable from my PC to the modem, there was no improvement unfortunately.
And while I know that is good general advice, it has been working with my current setup just fine for many months now, it may not be OPTIMAL but it was functional. I cannot explain why it suddenly isn't.

>>350526226
wooo, taaaaxes~

>>350525880
Your PC is not meant to be on a wireless connection. Use an ethernet cable and put your PC and gateway together. Make sure your gateway isn't shit, too. The more things running wireless in a room, the more interference these connetions have to account for and the more miserable you'll be.

Again, I appreciate the advice but what part of "It's been working fine for months" don't you get? I know my PC being on wifi isn't optimal for Quest PCVR but it has been working, absolutely fine, for a long time now. I've been playing VRChat with some of you cunts just fine using a wifi connection from my PC.

So yes, I get it, I should be using an ethernet cable all the time, correct. You're right I should. But that isn't the fucking issue at hand.

>TFW you still want to make a model for NeosVR
>But you want someone else to do it
>Because you like the creative vision of others

I wish people would make an avatar for me that is some kind of like collaborative vision. Like people can iterate on it, but it is limited to a certain poly limit and all changes are subject to my approval. Like an avatar of anarchy.

>tfw no NEET to take care of and buy things for

>>350547615
Look at all the autists here and say that again

>>350547598
>for neos
The whole draw of Neos is that others can collaborate and iterate on ideas. You could make a blank skeleton and have other people use the polybrush in real-time to create pieces and then weld them to the bones.
Granted it would look like shit and not have any textures.

>>350548148
I think the only major problem would be getting a headless server (not really that big of a problem), and then figuring out how to resave an avatar with collective changes (no idea here). It's like I would have to personally snapshot the avatar each time it is changed, I am pretty sure.

I think I'll just end up making it myself. By the way, I can show someone here how the physics now work in Neos if anybody is interested. They just added BEPU engine or whatever, and probably most people don't know what the CharacterController stuff is or even does.
