If you have a good PC, then Half Life Alyx is a must. It's EASILY my number one choice to this day. Then you have the mandatory ones like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip and Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. I personally recommend Deemo if you want puzzles + story + music and Tetris Effect if you want to chill.

I also like playing Gal Gun 2 VR and Talos Principle, but those are basically the same as their originals but ported to VR. Ragna Rock is cool if you're into mashing drums. Finally, if you want 100% story with little interaction, Tokyo Chronos and Altdeus are pretty fun.

Mate it’s insane honestly. Back then I can properly use the 8 emotion gestures as per situation.
Now with an 8x8 matrix the cognitive overload is too high that I need a camera pointed at me to verify the emotions I use.

I found having a few general rules helps a lot. Like fist =closed eyes. Point =sad. Gun=smug, thumbs=excited.
Ex.
So gun+thumbs=smugly excited
I only need to remember the main 8 ones in theory.
And the doubles of the same emotion are just hyper versions of them gun+gun=hyper smug

Multiplayer: most people play vrchat, many people play either contractors or pavlov, handful of car autists do assetto, also vox mecha servers.

As for singleplayer, try out every big title there is. Not like you'll have lots to do since we've got maybe two big releases and bunch of smaller games. Alyx, Boneworks, definitely try Blade&Sorcery and Beat Saber, i also personally recommend Thrill of the Fight as a surprisingly fun game/exercise. beat seiba and pavlov are available natively on quest, alyx and boneworks are PC-only, so not sure if those recommendations fit your situation.

No. Index gestures are the same as Rift, only 'rock and roll' is actually that sign. Only completely straight and completely bent fingers can be gestures, so anything in-between won't activate anything. Add to that the fact it can't detect what your fingers are doing at all and it's almost impossible to activate anything consistently.

I wanna like boneworks. Maybe I'm retarded. But I find the having a physical body thing much to the players detriment. Always getting tangled in shit. Also In general I find levels to take a long ass time because I'm doing simple puzzles while managing clunky physics. I everytime I vault a wall I get annoyed as I almost always never works the first time and I end up levering my arms down and just sort of awkwardly look down until the games decides I'm up. Makes me appreciate Alyx more. I like the idea of items placed on my body, but half the time I just drop my gun over my back or pull out a clip instead of a gun. I find myself more Nnoyed than anything else and finishing a level feels more like "oh thank God it's over with" than "wow what a great level". I feel like I'm missing something. There's a lot of clever ideas but the game just ends up feeling pretentious to me. Maybe not my cup of tea.

It's all about whether you love or hate jank. You mention puzzles, and my favorite thing about BW is how you can just work your way around good half of them, reaching for objects far away with a crowbar, climbing over the entire level, you name it. Some people will love it for the freedom, some will hate it for the cheapness of the game that allows it.

Controls and combat physics sure could be better though. Rifle stock colliding with your body is peak retard concept, swords are only good for stabbing and feel horrible otherwise, no wonder obstacle course is handgun only because nothing else feels right in this game. Because of all of that, no one but jankfags will ever enjoy this game, because in order to genuinely like it you need to forgive it how low-budget it is in many places.

VR ports tend to be like that, unless flatscreen game is 100% sitting sim, VR ports are rarely all that great still tend to be peak fun, and 1:1 scale/depth perception is always welcome. Play Skyrim VR, play Blade and Sorcery, then you'll get a good idea on what exactly is a difference between flatscreen adaptation and a full-blown VR game.

I like being able to skip puzzles, because I found most of the puzzles annoying or poorly explain. Fuck the pallet lifter thing out of this earth. Fucking hate 2 handed guns in vr and feels like shit to me. Bows I can fuck with. I also wish that finding the collectibles didn't require me to carry them all the way to the end. Those little save station things also for some reason never save my items. vrchat determines scale using the space between hands and viewball. So you can just scale up your ingame height until your hands in the correct place. Your feet might not be correct then but thats usually less noticeable.

outside of full body, any proportions are fine
when you're using full body, if you have proportions like the knight guy, your legs will move very dumb because they are too short and your arms will always be bent inwards because they are too long. You can have slightly exaggerated proportions and put in a fake height, but you do have to compromise if you want things to work.

You wont really notice your legs being too short or long until you do stuff like kneel down or cross your feet/legs. other than that your legs will move normally regardless of length, thanks to inverse kinematics. The only caveat of course being that you have to schedule some days in advance and do some work to shill your game beforehand.

Those are known as god rays and are an inherent artifact on fresnel lenses. However, manufacturing variation exists on the Quest 2 in terms of the lens quality (and this variation happens on almost all headsets), so while you probably have an average unit, it might also be possible it's one of the not as good ones.

If your IPD is not set accurately or your eyes aren't at the "sweet spot" distance to the lenses, it can worsen the effect, so you should make sure to dial that in. There are plenty of resources online about that kind of thing that explain some good ways to get the IPD and sweet spot better than I could, so go look it up. Note that the Quest 2 has 3 IPD positions but you can fiddle around with it to get it stuck into the in-between positions for better accuracy.

Yeah it'll fuck up your scaling but you can fake it by having well proportioned fake arm bones with rotation constraints to the real ones. They won't move 1:1 with your real arms but controlling them still feels natural.

Hi!
Quest 2 is the best entry level headset and is by far one of the cheapest. It's good though.
You can usually play PCVR on them via your wifi so that's something.
They should work with glasses, so long as your glasses aren't too big.
The default strap isn't too good so a replacement strap should be a good idea eventually (chink ones are apparently better than the facebook premium ones)

The Quest 2 can be used in either a wired or unwired configuration. The wired port on the Quest 2 is a USB-C, so you'll need a USB-C cable. The cable that is included with the Quest 2 is very short and can only reasonably used for charging or data transfer, not regular play.

Long USB-C cables can be expensive. If you're on a budget, you can use a cheap USB-A 3.0 to USB-C cable, which you can get 15ft versions of for less than $10 off of amazon. The caveat for this is that it won't be able to charge your headset faster than the battery drains, so you'll only be able to play for about 5 hours at a time. This may or may not be an issue for you.

The Quest 2 can also be used wirelessly over wifi. With a good network setup, it can work very well. If your network is unsuited for it, however, it will be shit, so make sure your network is good or get a cable. I can elaborate more on network setups if you want.

the quest 2 should have a glasses spacer that lets you wear normal glasses, but anyone with shit eyes will tell you that it is VERY HIGHLY recommended to pick up prescription lens inserts for your headset (vroptician.com)

My glasses didn't fit inside the headset at all (I have slightly large frames), so I had to wear contacts and bought prescription lenses from an online place.
The lenses fit over the stock lenses and they work really well.

You've got a couple options here. I was once in a similar wifi-only situation; if you still want to use wireless what you can do is purchase your own 5ghz wifi-6 router (cost me about $40 USD). You can connect it via ethernet to your PC, with your PC still receiving internet from the original wifi connection you had, and then connect your quest 2 to the network created by the router.
The phone router thing is a bit more dicey. It used to work for me, but then one day after a patch it stopped working. Maybe it will work for you if you give it a shot idk.

You can tilt the speaker arms a bit to adjust how it applies pressure to you head. ideally the top strap should hold most of the weight not your face. Either way look to upgrading the strap. I use a kiwi elite pro strap with mine. very comfy. Also consider a VRCover facial interface. As for image quality it's probably your PC or settings. I use Virtual desktop on high and keep it at 90fps (battery drains to fast at 120 for my battery banks to keep up for more than 4 hours.) SteamVR resolution is set to 1.6x and graphic settings in vrchat are usually on 4x AA and high. Looks really good. Actually better than index. Index had horrible godrays and more noticeable SDE.

There are worlds that let you pick people up, and I think there might've been a mod that lets you do that as well. Check that out. I think there might've been a physics touching mod too, but VRChat has already announced and shown a new physics system that lets us do that, we're just waiting on when they actually put it in an update.
