Quest 2 controller died, time to kill myself
>>383287120
serves you right you rat fuck
im waytching a VR game recommendation video, and literally every time they show a trailer/commercial for a game, it shows the human people putting on the headset, and literally every single time it’s a White woman and a black man playing the VR game. It’s an hour long video and every single trailer is like this.
Why?
>>383288139
I couldn't afford anything else
Can you bypass the bandwidth limit of using Airlink with an AMD card by using Virtual Desktop?
>>383281462 (Cross-thread)
Multiplayer works
Mods work
All while in VR. You just need to optin into the oculus beta branch and use -openvr for non-Oculus heads or -oculus for oculus headset in the Steam launch options.
I don't get why some anons claimed quite falsely that all of those things are mutually exclusive. American Truck Simulator/European Truck Simulator 2 are real comfy in VR and are even better if you have friends to play them with.
all new vr games should be required to support fbt by law
i am fucking tired of spending so much money on vive shit and then only use it to flex on fags in vrchat because no fucking games support it and if they do it's BARELY like b&s
>>383292840
You should play Jet Island. You can use FBT in that game to control your hoverboard and even do kick-flips. It's a solid adventure game regardless. No one will support FBT in the future as all games are made for Quest sadly.
>>383288171
look at the companies behind them, then into their executives
>>383293407
>No one will support FBT in the future
ummm swetie, quest 3 next year will literally have FBT built in
>>383294269
Yeah, in an extremely limited stare at mirror base form which will be about as useful as Kinect. For actual games like Blade & Sorcery where you playspace around and rotate it'll never track properly.

>>383292840
I wish a hip tracker was included in the initial standard. You could have a tracked inventory, body oriented movement, leaning, etc. in every game.
>>383288171
go-to diversity tokens, all american ads are like that
Game recommendations skip a few nice mods, like nomaiVR for outerwilds or the "new" RE2, RE3, RE7 & RE8 mods. Quite a shame. Didn't know this general existed, that's a relief.
does anybody here own the valve index and is it worth it
>>383302350
I have owned once since 2019 when it launched. You would probably be better off with a more recent headset now because it still costs $1000 despite being somewhat outdated now.
i noticed on vrchat i can upload youtube videos in the screens in the room. can everyone else hear and see them, or just me?
>>383303302
integrated headphones seem kinda stupid, feel like you'd be better off with your own pair of tws
>>383303423
if the room is public and they have that stuff enabled they can hear it too, not sure if private mutes it for people outside or they just can't get in there
isn't this thread used by a specific pedo groomer?
>>383303464
They're more like integrated speakers, which for me is far worse. They don't block external sound at all and you have to use them on high volume to hear properly. Most people like it though.
>>383303991
Most people are retarded.
>>383304087
This is a case where no-one has ever agreed with me and can't believe I don't like the Index speakers if I mention it.
>>383303991
I guess its supposed to give the feeling like its coming from "around you" like a virtual experience rather than good sound quality?
>>383304372
It's apparently good quality.
>>383304554
I mean apposed to in ear sound quality
>>383304903
Other people tell me it is the greatest sound quality they have heard.
>>383305018
eh, it'd be nice to see these out in stores like walmart where I can test it out for myself
>>383305083
I don't think that would be a good environment because it's so loud.
>>383305172
if I could at least experience the vr quality in of itself that'd be enough
>>383305473
It no longer has the best screen quality and the controllers were kinda bad from the start.
>>383304262
you probably cant hear very well because the speakers are great, someone can even be watching tv on the same room and i wont notice
>>383300663
Doesn't the re8 mod only support gamepad?
>>383308131
Whatever it is, I much prefer headphones.
>>383303464
I like them. I only play Beat Saber so audio is pretty important to me. The quality is fine, better than they look on the low end. They're obviously not comparable to high fidelity headphones or IEMs. For me the best part is exactly that they don't touch ears. It helps with the feeling that the audio comes from the environment instead of coming from pair of headphones you have clamping your head or from IEMs in your ear canals.
>play ATF

anger, disappointment and sadness
>>383303464
You can take them off or place muffs on them.
>>383305083
Not sure at all but there MIGHT be Microsoft stores where you can demo the Reverb G2 which uses the same speakers, in colaboration with Valve.
>>383303464
I like them as they are more comfortable than headphones. When you are playing games that get sweaty like Beat Saber, having your ears unenclosed is nice. I used to use headphones with my old WMR headset and they got nasty real fast when playing games that involved moving around.
what game is the OP from?
>>383311905
okay, I can see the benefit in that situation but what about when you want to lay down on your side on a pillow while VR-ing
>>383312212

>>383317941
They've found their audience's weakness
>>383317164
It took me 24 hours to 100% it, but could have taken 14 if I didn't die like an idiot so much. I'd say that it'll definitely take several days and is extra fun if you play with a friend. Once you kill all the bosses and craft every piece of equipment there isn't really a reason to do anything else. At least not until the new biome+boss is added next month. I'd definitely say it's worth the current asking price.
>>383320923
Got it, thanks!
>>383318437
>anon uooooh's and gives his position away
H3VR is very mechanically impressive but I just wish there was more to do than gun autism. There are little minigames but I feel like this game is really nothing but framework. Which I guess describes a lot of VR games
I will been on Valheim around 6pm PST - 9 EST.
I hope I will find my fellow Vikings there if they expect a place in Valhalla.
The situation has turned grim. Our expansion into the plains has not gone unnoticed. The goblin hoards have struck at our home base 3 times in short order. Our northern wall as been neglected and is quickly reduced to splinters. We badly need stone walls up there. I fixed the essentials that were destroyed but the attacks are coming every 3 game days.
I fear I will not last if my friends leave me alone out here.
>>383324629
For some absurd reason devs with great framework-like games don't want their games to be modded. Modding support would do wonders for many titles, but no.
Zenith was so much fun for the first few hours. Sure there a lot of screaming kids and that bug that keeps you from crafting but I felt like they were on to something. Why do I have to dual wield like a weeb nerd.
>>383325107
my thoughts exactly. shame
>>383325107
>>383324629
H3VR has modding support.
>>383325996
Is Thunderstore the mainline modding repo for H3VR? The libraries there seem to be maintained by the community. If all the tooling for mods are community made then the game devs don't really support modding. I've also seen complaints about H3VR dev not really being supportive of modding, but I don't know if this is actually true still.
I know for sure that some people have a skewed perception about Beat Saber modding here so maybe this is the case with H3VR too.
What are the best offline video players for PCVR? Virtual Home Theater would be otherwise really nice, but it doesn't support SSA subtitle theming for my chinese cartoons.
>>383327878
He's worked with modders for a while now, he mentions it from this time stamp:
https://youtu.be/ionghA0jMdA?t=935
>>383325657
I agree. It felt like a stretched out demo to me but a decent demo with clear potential when compared with the rest of the trash in the VRMMO genre.
The mechanics worked well even if they weren't used to good effect. Gliding and climbing were still satisfying even after 20 hours but it was clear that the zones weren't originally designed for it.
The combat seemed simplistic but it actually has potential on the few classes that get more than the barebones mechanics; Mage Tank could use timed blocks, AoE CC, burst heal, debuff the enemy and their weapon damage ramped up over time so they had to manage cooldowns to maximise the DPS window. Using this I was fighting group quest bosses and their minions on my own without being overlevelled, It was a fun challenge compared to the rest of the braindead combat. I like limited skill slots as they encourage tradeoffs in builds but 4 is maybe too limited and there are nowhere near enough skills to let classes have build variety.
Crafting was another potentially good mechanic held back by awful design. They should ditch the recipe system and just let us experiment with whatever ingredients we have, saving any successful combinations into a recipe book. Finding new ingredients sucks because you can't do anything with them until you arbitrarily reach the level required to unlock the recipe. This would also let recipe combinations spread through socialization instead of a shitty quest system.
>>383332365
>This would also let recipe combinations spread through socialization instead of a shitty quest system.
>through socialization
99% of the people would get the recipes from the wiki if that was the case, dont be retarded

Is there a way to show a floor boundary, like Thrill of the Fight, but across all games? I am tired of swinging into walls.
>>383341516
OVR Advanced Settings lets you in its boundary settings. I find it mandatory for Blade And Sorcery to not destroy my controllers.
>>383341964
Thanks, I type this with a swollen index finger caused my 2handed swinging approx 10m ago
whats the easiest quick way to making/editing webm videos? I want to show off some VR games I've been playing
>>383346317
Use OBS Studio to record Oculus Mirror or SteamVR's 'Display VR view'. The performance impact is minimal, the options are good and the replay buffer is very useful. I just use the keyboard but if you want to use your VR controller as the record hotkey you can do that with an Autohotkey script.
Easy to then throw that raw footage into WebM for baka/retard/lazy, adjust the settings to lower the resolution, trim the unwanted footage and set the 3MB size limit.
>>383354991
Can you share your autohotkey script?
>>383346317
If you use mpv try this

What's a good 3rd party link cable for the Quest 2?
Well after trying the disappointment that is Nintendo Switch Sports, I decided to buy Eleven Table Tennis. This is what I imagined games would be like after playing the original Wii sports. I absolutely suck tho, I finally got both drives down after watching a viet guy teach it in slow-mo.
>>383383882
I've got the 5m kiwi design one and it works fine. Although do keep in mind that apparently usb type A ports can't output as much power as usb type C ports, so if you've got the socket for it it might be worthwhile to look for a type C to type C cable
>>383387491
Eleven is one of my favourite games in general. You will suck at first, I've put hundreds of hours in and now I'm 'okay'. Don't regret a single hour, they're all fun.
>>383389662
I do have a usb-c port but supposedly it supports 3 amps output the same as the 3.1 usb-a port on my motherboard.
>>383365973
For Rift/Quest:

For SteamVR you can use OpenVR Advanced Settings to add Key Press and other options to the controller binding menu.
Wow, charting for Ragnarock is not as easy as I thought.

EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club, season 5!
Race 23.
RACING ANNIVERSARY! 1 YEAR OF THE CLUB!
18:00 UTC, 20:00 CET, Monday 16th of May! (that's in 8 days!)
We are going to get SCREWED by the AMERICANS. GT2 race in Laguna Seca. Cars are powerfull, fast, high tech, high grip, but the SCREW will still screw you over, so slow down.
1 hour practice, 15 minute qualifiers, 10 lap race.
Afterwards we'll do some drifting/pleasure driving in the Gunsai Touge, Japan, with a good selection of drift and non drift cars, mainly from Japan.
Mods:
https://mega.nz/folder/CiJ0jYZR#VQMV86vN0AZKKev_27_jFQ
Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html and a mod installer (just drag and drop zip files from mega).
For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.

Into The Radius keeps hitting 100% on my CPU and stutters and is basically unplayable :(
Blade and sorcery is alright so far. Should I upgrade my CPU? I get mixed results on what people online say about an i3 8100 for VR
>>383426474
ItR has especially high hardware requirements.
>>383426892
BloodTrail VR was also giving me the old "100% CPU load causing stutters"
Meanwhile, task manager said my GPU usage was at 40%
Guess I gotta drop 300$ next friday when i get my paycheck, unless anyone has any magic advice to descrease CPU usage?
>>383413929
When I had that card I could pretty much only play Quake 1, Minecraft, and Skyrim with mods that make the game look like Runescape. Even Beat Saber required me to turn down the resolution and still had hitches. Get a better card and CPU ASAP. Go to Newegg and see what is on your budget. The 5000 series Ryzens go for pretty cheap these days.
>>383429035
Well, I dont mind playing games at fucking 240p resolution, its the juttering and stuttering thats making me sick.
I look at my task manager, and my CPU is like 100% at all times while in VR, while GPU load is small. I wanted to get a CPU thats within my socket range so I dont have to switch motherboards
And i7 9700k for 200-350$ surely will be great, right?
>>383429650
>3 years old i7
anon dont
save money and buy new motherboard with new i5, you dont need i7
>>383429650
Not a good deal for the price given that you can get a 5800x for the same price, but it will be an upgrade for sure. Get a better cooler too so you can overclock it.
>>383429650
An i7 is probably overkill, you'd be better off with an i5 and putting the rest of the money towards a better gpu.
>>383430101
What’s wrong with a 3 year old i7?>>383430103
I see the AMD cpu is cheaper and better, but I’d also have to spend 80-100$ on a new motherboard so it would kinda even out right?
>>383430221
I want overkill, I wanna be absolutely certain that my CPU won’t hold me back whatsoever, just my 1060. I’ve been dealing with underpowered CPU fuckery in VR for weeks now, I’m tired of it
>>383354991
Why not use the OBS OpenVR plugin to record OpenVR directly?
>>383431285
>I’ve been dealing with underpowered CPU fuckery in VR for weeks now, I’m tired of it
That's because you're using the shittest desktop i3 you could get your hands on, an i5 will blow it out of the water.
>haven't gone fast with vrg in almost a year
https://streamable.com/ckg0zh
>>383426474
>>383427719
You're having a CPU bottleneck. If your CPU is too weak, you won't be able to fully utilize your graphics cards. The lower resolution you go, the more CPU intensive things are. It's why CPU gaming benchmarks are done at 1080p vs 4k, because higher res is much more GPU dependent. Your CPU is very likely holding you back quite a bit with an i3.
>>383432350
Yeah, thats what I thought, seeing as the task manager said my CPU was at 100% load.
>>383429650
>>383429650
I have to second what people are saying. Save your money and just save for a new motherboard and CPU. it's not worth upgrading that socket for that much, it's wasting money.
>play ATF again

>>383431418
Both are good but SteamVR view has some extra options that can be useful.
>>383432859
I don’t understand why though, CPU world or whatever says it’s like the 40th best CPU ever right now out of like 1500
>>383426474
check frame timings in Steamvr advanced frame timing thing, it's under developer.
It shows how much time game spends on GPU and CPU to render a frame, based on those times you can decide what is limiting you more, GPU or CPU.
>>383434782
Places like that and userbenchmark are full of complete shit and don't tell the whole story, they're bad places to look at. Those numbers are also vastly inflated by CPUs which are over a decade old.
If you spend 200-350 on the 9700k, you can save another 200-250ish, maybe even less depending on the board, to buy a new motherboard and get even a mid range 12th gen CPU, or current Ryzen 5000 series, that will completely and utterly shit on the 9700k in every possible way by such a degree it's not even a fair comparison, and will last you so much longer.
>>383435897
Aww man ://
Yeah, a Ryzen 5 5600x is 230, while a new motherboard is around 100$
I just REALLY didn’t want to have to build my whole PC again. Are you sure just upgrading my CPU in the same gen won’t be fine? I know you’re probably right but I just wanna play blade and sorcery :(
>>383437038
If you wanna waste your money then go ahead. It'll technically work but you're getting awful value compared to what else you could be getting with the same or even less.
>>383437628
I mean if I spend 300$ on an i7, or 300 on an AMD CPU and new motherboard, it’s not that big of a waste huh? Sure it might be less performance but I also won’t have to rebuild my entire PC
>>383438550
If you're that lazy when they're the same price then it's your money to burn and you do you. The 5600x is a fairly better CPU in gaming, and also will last you longer before you need to upgrade again for several reasons. Rebuilding a basic PC set up should take you less than an hour if you don't have loads of your own modifications or something like a custom loop.
>>383438550
Eh there isn't really much of a work/time difference to just switch a cpu+cooler vs taking out RAM and GPU as well to switch the entire motherboard.
>>383439502
>>383439641
Yeah, I guess you’re right. I just have only put together a PC once and am scared I’ll fuck something up
I guess I’ll go with a Ryzen when I get my paycheck in a week.
>>383440087
Anon, building a PC isn't hard. They're practically like legos now as long as you follow the instructions. You can do a bunch of fancy shit like customs loops and whatever, that stuff is more complicated, but to just get a basic and functional PC is super easy.
>>383354991
what game is this?
>>383440231

It's not so much a program as a common base and a bunch of assets that people slap to it. Second life is a common source of horrifically unoptimised assets.
If only it was a fucking program then it might actually not be as bad (and there are some programs that shit out models, like custom maid and vroid)
>>383499952
There's also the fact that VR game design directly contradicts modern AAA game design. Modern big budget games are all about wrestling control away from players to play shitty movie segments, but in VR at the bare minimum you need to let the player control the camera if you don't want them to feel weird, and even just controlling the movement can be offputting.
>>383502280
>Modern big budget games are all about wrestling control away from players to play shitty movie segments,
trueeeeee
>>383501893
I can run games fine, i'm just autistic about framedrops and stutters which i'm getting a lot unless i reduce resolution
it could also be my CPU or RAM as my cpu is less powerful than yours (r5 2600) and the RAM is slow (8gb 2666mhz), so i'm just trying to warn anon that cheaping out will result in a cheap experience
>>383502280
god fuck i hated playing Vader Immortal due to this, even Battle Sister 40k let you do something as small as smack NPC's with weapons during cutscenes
Could the vrc degenerative coomers and pedophiles remove themselves from the thread and go back to their general or rather fuck off to their discord servers all together
>>383502363
Vader immortal cutscenes could have been made 10x more bearable if they let me press the buttons on the ship. Even if they did nothing.
>>383502363
I was genuinely asking, because I haven't tried that many games yet and was curious which might be shit for my GPU, might be fine though
>>383502494
Unfortunately i haven't played that many either
Games like Battle Sister 40k ran perfectly during the intro level and then once i got to Chapter 2 which is a huge open cathedral with enemies on multiple floors i had to turn down the settings
so running quest 2 with link wire connected definitely adds like a good 1-2 hours extra play time right? seemed like it anyway
>>383504063
Yeah it does. Shame it can't run forever, wish they gave you the option of using a cable like the one the index has where you can hook the power, usb and display up in one.
>>383497946
Over the last 4+ years I've owned VR I have concluded that people want familiar low effort games. They don't want to commit to a single task that requires physically removing the headset to do other things. They don't want to stand up or move around. They don't want to learn new controls or mechanics. They want to sit in a chair clicking things on autopilot or waggling analog sticks in a minor variation of the same game they've played for thousands of hours before.
I think what we consider to be VR will always be niche. I predict the mainstream future is actually AR, wearing something with the form factor of glasses. It will replace smart phone tasks, and possibly other displays if they can be rendered bright enough to appear opaque. Women will sit swiping candy crush blocks floating in front of them while their social media feed scrolls past at the side. Others might use it to watch streaming services on a 100 inch virtual screen that is synced between nearby devices. I cannot see the majority of people ever wearing a headset that isolates them from the real world, because it is high effort while offering little to no advantage to how they use it.
Look at /vrg/ where almost everyone already owns a headset, but over 90% never play a single game that isn't VRchat (even in that they won't visit any world with an activity) and of the remaining 10% an even smaller fraction will actually play VR games regularly, as opposed to as an occasional novelty. If you look at /v/ there's people who own a headset but haven't turned it on in over a year, or sold it.
The number of people in the world who truly enjoy VR games is vanishingly small and it is an ongoing source of sadness for me.
>>383504272
Yeah wish I could run it forever off power cord.
is there an avatar world that focuses on low poly avatars? also where can I find an avatar of the vrchat "loading" blue crystal avatar
>>383504424
Good post.
I am very interested in AR as well, but I feel like it's going to be in the same boat as VR with nothing of real substance to do with it.
>>383504604
Quest avatar worlds are usually pretty low poly
but you probably mean actual retro style
>>383504424
>even in that they won't visit any world with an activity
This has been the biggest disappointment of VRchat to me, most of the "Activity" worlds like games or etc are empty in favor of chatrooms

Yeah its KIWI brand C to A
>>383508089
It depends on the actual usb-c port and obviously cable quality can effect it too, but generally usb-c is capable of a higher power output than usb-a. Although there are lightning ports (usually have a yellow "tongue" instead of the typical usb 3.1 blue one) which I think are supposed to be capable of outputting enough power.

>90% doesn't play anything but vrchat
Smelling bit of an ass pull here. I agree with the general conclusion and i don't think there's a lot of people who would spend 100h+ in b&s because simple act of using entire body in natural motions to play game brings them pleasure, but i know for a fact that when i've seen a good quater of people I know here in either pavlov or 'tractors at least once. Also, I always get to find this one fellow bored boy in VRC who would be willing to play 8ball or whatever's available in the game world at the moment. You're not wrong, not everyone enjoys plain act of motion controlled games with 1:1 presence, but 90% and then more doesn't sound right at all.
I don't mind staying a niche. I love VR in current state, i love how someone can release jank ass into the radius without being shunned for low quality, I love playing games that often feel more like experiments in new medium. Being niche isn't bad, i just hope we won't die any time soon.futur4 doesn't look entirely bright though, we've really lost the momentum through years ;_;
>>383519678
It doesn't really matter if it's 90% or 75%, the fact remains that it's the minority and most of that minority will play very rarely. People who already own headsets can't be bothered to play games, so it's going to be much, much worse for the general population that has to make an investment in the technology.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on what anons play here online. I had a lot of fun playing online on my psVR back then.
>>383523518
Knuckles as in the index controllers? No I have not looked into them? Are they that much of a step up? I might get them before FBT
>>383524243
>Are they that much of a step up?
Vive wands are universally regarded as good for nothing, their ergonomy and input was designed for valve's theory of how VR will look like which turned out to be completely incorrect. Look it up, but I'm pretty sure you really, really want knuckles over wands.
>>383524243
Vive wands are some of the worst controllers every made.
>>383524696
>>383524709
Guess I'll have get them then. It just sucks that Valve doesnt sell them in mountain jew land.

No surprise, but I guess the controllerd have to wait until next paycheck.
>>383524818
>knuckles without valve warranty
ouch. still worth it over using wands, but let it be known that knuckles tend to be getting issues with time. stick drift is a popular issue that can be worked around by setting thumbstick deadzones, but it's not the only thing that could happen to them.
Make 100% sure you can't get them straight from valve in any way or form. If not, oh well, they're not all that horribly expensive to buy again in case one breaks, but i imagine bad aftertaste would stay with you forever.
>>383525394
They'll cost like 490 francs here, through a 3.party site that is.
i really wish i didn't have to troubleshoot this fucking piece of shit every time i actually try to use it

>>383531443
It matters little. Index would be even more expensive here in mountain jew land. I'll see how I like the wands and go from there. Maybe I just cope and deal with it. By the way the basic index through the only swiss reseller costs just short about 1600 US dollars.
>>383531968
damn thats a lot
>>383533315
It sure is. I mean I could also order it on steam via a german VPN, but that opens up a whole other can of worms.(Possible custom controls, warranty etc.) I think I am better off with Vive as it is and maybe get the controllers somewhere else.

VRC shit keeps the thread bumped. There is not usually enough vr game content to keep a general afloat by itself.
>>383626742
I agree with that but unfortunately those jerks dont answer vr questions or talk about vr games. only their drama and new 3d models
So its shit either way
>>383626742
It doesn't matter. WE are the vr general. A general solely dedicated to a fucking chatroom program masquerading as a proper vr general makes no sense. VRchat is just a secondlife clone that just happens to let you use a VR headset. There is no actual discussion about VR in that general apart from people going in circles and bumping with

>>383631470
You should be able to set the resolution in the software for whatever you're using to stream it (airlink, regular link, virtual desktop etc.) and also I think steam lets you modify the resolution in the menu

It's the nature of general threads. They either devolve into shitposting and unrelated drama or they die.
>>383784885
Strapped a 200g batterypack on my original, works fine for me.
>>383792920
You can get it for even cheaper from key resellers. VR isn't a separate version and I personally liked the game, but it felt a bit bland to me after a while. The most interesting thing to happen to me was running out of fuel and finding a website for an organization that delivers fuel to stranded players. But that was people working around the game's systems.
Also the latest piece of dlc apparently tanked the performance even for people who don't have it, not sure if that's been fixed yet.
>>383794572
The latest dlc also doesn't have vr support, but it's a separate launcher so you can still play vr in the old version of the game.
I know understand why people dislike the htc vive wand controllers. It is a pain in the ass to turn with them. I dont quite get it what or what doesnt make me spin around.
>>383794938
The touchpad is broken. That tends to happen after a few weeks and you have to open it up to make a temporary fix. They're shit in every possible way even if that didn't happen.

any app for quest 2 that can do it?
Is superhot worth getting or should I look into pirating it instead?
>>383809012
Pirate it. The latest version removed a few scenes that the devs found """""problematic""""". You have to pirate an older version to see everything.
>>383809012
You need a big playing space, 5m x 5m the least to really experience the game. Tries playing it on 2x2, nearly broke my hand twice trying to throw shit and hitting the wall
>>383809012
devs removed important parts randomly on day because they they thought someone could potentially get offended (they already had a trigger warning toggle to turn them off but they removed them completely)
you can probably still get he older versions some way if you buy it though
>>383809012
Pirate it, not because it's not worth the money but because you'll get a better game out of it. If you have the quest 2 get the standalone

It should be an option if anything, not forced. I'm currently living in the radius on the shortest tide interval. I've noticed that there's only a few places you can actually be teleported to and they're all on the edge of the map.
>>383811745
If you have the quest 2 look into that one launcher, it's on the quest piracy subreddit. For pc follow the other guy's recommendations

BTW, how is a tech demo still the king of th most intuitive vr movement concept and has the most satisfying melee combat, and with U11 a magic system that deserves the name. If they manage to work on the climbing, the best game in vr is going to be a tech demo
>>383813982
It's really amazing how some of the biggest VR games more have a framework showcasing what VR could be rather than actually doing a whole lot with it outside a sandbox.
Games like B&S or Boneworks have amazing physics and VR interactions, but there's not really much to actually do in them once that novelty wears off without modding the hell out of it. In a few years, I hope to see a game with even half the expansiveness and things to do of Skyrim, but having the level of physics and interactions that those games have.
>Join After the Fall Horde game with three quest users
>One Mexican leaves after two rounds silently
>A squeakers has both parents take turns yelling at him to clean his room loudly before he finally leaves
>Host stays around, completely brand new with stock service pistol, but suddenly kills the lobby at round 10
>Get no rewards as as a result, and can't even start Horde at a later wave as you need to be at at least rounds 15 to do that
>Decide that it's not worth gambling and wasting another half an hour and close the game
I am always sorely reminded why I stick to singleplayer VR games.
>>383823265
Planck already adds proper physics based combat along with HIGGS which does the same for general interactions to Skyrim VR. All it needs is weighted weapons at this point so your ability to swing a battle axe around is capped by more than stamina. The game is already lightyears ahead of the rest of the VR scene.
>>383836529
It's not B&S. When you hit people it has some physics reaction, but things like blocking, parrying, doing those with weapons is what really makes B&S melee feel so good, is still lacking and the same Skyrim stuff. That mod is a huge improvement for sure, but people seriously overestimate it.
>>383823265
Blood Trail is the worst offender in my opinion, it could be the modern Doom if the devs were more competent
>>383836364
kek, hearing parents shouting at little kids is one of the funniest things in VR.
>>383836838
Fair enough. I think that Strike Obsfucation System's blocking and parrying is more than serviceable, but it isn't properly physics based yet. I like that Skyrim is an actual game, and have three times as many hours in it as I have in Boneworks and Blade & Sorcery combined as a result.
>>383836364
I usually leave and look for another lobby if there's an open mic quest kid or two. You'll find adults eventually and thankfully it's become easier since launch.

>>383858534
I'll need to figure out how to host so I can at least go down solo rather than the lobby just dying. I got too comfortable with randos in Deep Rock being quite bearable (There is no crossplay there after all), but VR games in pubs seem to be beyond redemption now.
>>383860468
only join lobbies with steamvr players and only invite steamvr players
when they join make sure that they won't leave early by asking them if they are down to go for 1 to 1 and a half hours
best of luck

Do any of these battery straps have pass-thru for pc link?
Are PC pavlov servers doing a thing where they can detect I'm using a quest so that I deliberately spawn OOB on specific servers? All of my playspace settings are correct so can't think of any other reason as to why this keeps happening.
>>383809012
It's massively overrated. Sounds like a perfect match on paper, but it has hit detection issues and not really good checkpointing. Feels very much like a first gen VR title that the devs didn't put much effort into beyond the initial novelty.

Yeah. The dumb grinding was patched out and the shooting+gunplay is good. There are only six actual levels+two wave survival maps, but the AI director changes things up to the point where I don't get bored replaying them a lot. The game isn't dead, but pubs are extremely hit and miss sadly.

It's one of my all time favorite VR games, real amazing when you remember it was made by one developer, but at the same time it ruined me on sims, because I realize I only like arcadey action like PW and not autistically realistic sims like DCS, but only Project Wingman and Ace Combat really fill that niche for more modern games, and the latter doesn't have VR support because exclusivity.

How easy is it to pirate standalone Quest 2 games? I was going to get my siblings one, and they don't have a PC good enough to run PCVR games. Is it just a matter of uploading the apks to the headset? I have an Index, so I don't know how Quest headsets work.
>>383990771
>How easy is it to pirate standalone
very easy, you need devmode and sideloader
>>383989226
its just jap devs being lazy faggots, same shit with vr for re7 on pc
>>383990771
Redditors made a loader that can both download and sideload pretty much the latest version of nearly any quest 2 game. It's far better than pcvr piracy, the thing will even check for updates to the things you have installed and offer to update them. As for what you need to do to enable it, look up guides on how to set up sidequest since if you get that working the piracy sideloader will work as well.

You spend a lot more time doing things that isn't holding a rifle with two hands in Pavlov. You can't use it in pistol round, it slows down reloading, using grenades, or interacting with the bomb. It gets frustrating having something hanging in front of you that isn't serving any purpose and makes switching to or from your primary potentially take a second or more even with magnets. The worst part of mine was that the rear cup would randomly detach so I had to permanently affix it to the stock, or risk having my gun fall apart at random.
>>384020673
I have a very lightweight stock and only the rear controller is attached to it, for the most part none of these are issues for me
>wait entire life for vr

>its underwhelming because there's nothing truly amazing and immersive to play

>>384023394
What games specifically did you actually try?
ALSO
I saw that cambridge video yesterday and it mentioned that they were going to allow the quest 2 to do AR on it just like the cambridge, but that means that the cameras on the quest 2 must be high quality and color then right? then why the fuck does the PASSTHROUGH shit look like Fucking DOGGO VISION?
WHY ZUCC WHY
>>384023639
Resident Evil 4
Echo VR
Gunraiders
Pavlov Shack
Aircar (this is a very simple but cool game for 5 mins)
Payday 2
Elite Dangerous (got to the first 2 mins before realizing I wasted 8 dollars since the quest 2 controllers dont work with it on steam)
Beat saber (barely a vr game)
I know now you're gonna say, play into the radius! or that other game, I know its not going to be immersive.
Immersive means you are so into the media, you're not thinking about real life.
When I have to stand up and hope I dont hit a wall or something and I have invisible arms and shit, thats not immersive.

You can try switching to Nvidia NIS inside of the settings. I get huge performance boosts in every game I use it in. Great for things like the Outer Wilds VR mod which isn't terribly optimized. Even at 1x upscaling the sharpening makes games look nicer.
>want to get into vr
>can't help but feel that every model has been out for so long now that the moment i step in, a new model will come out
>>384044917
Well, Cambria is coming out this year (even though it's not for gaming). And Quest 3 next year. I don't think Deckard will be this year, most likely late next year.
The problem atm is you either go big or go home. As much as I hate facebook I would say to look into getting a Quest 2 and following the dezucking guide.
>>384044917
It won't make old models bad though, they won't depreciate at new HMD release
>get index
>index 2 is announced, comes out in a year, you're waiting in queue for two years buy one because valve is bad at manufacturing hardware
>index didn't got any worse on index 2 release
>your headset is competent and works well
>you can enjoy vr vidya
Or get quest 2, same rule of usability applies, but with this one you also won't miss this $300 because it's just such a steal.
>>384045276
>Quest 3 next year
i suspected as such with the rebranding recently to meta; i've kept from getting the quest 2 because i hate facebook and the whole account stuff with them, i'm hoping they drop that and maybe i'd consider getting it if the price isn't too high
>following the dezucking guide

>The problem atm is you either go big or go home
yep, i haven't wanted to throw down 1k into it since i'm earth's most frugal (jewish) man
i'd probably just get the quest 3, i'd rather wait than buy in and have something new for a similar price with potentially better features come out a few months later

You'll be sacrificing image quality somewhere. The question is just how much. It'll also depend on your resolution, higher base resolution means more for the algorithm to work with. So high fidelity HMDs like the VP2 or 8k X benefit more than something like the Index does. I still wish people would include it as an option. DLSS looks better than FSR 1.0 in VR by a good degree, 2.0 would be awesome.
Personally, I found the VRPerf toolkits FFR feature a god send on Pimax, since it blurs the outer radius for some sizable performance gains, and the parts in your peripheral and outside the sweetspot are a little blurry anyway, so it's not that noticable.

It works on any dog NPC too in case you have a modded in dog companion or whatever.
Oculus gave me a 30% coupon, what's worth buying that I can't just pirate?
I'm tempted to grab Zenith, I've always wanted to play a VRMMO. Just not sure if it's the horse to bet on or if there'll be an even better VR MMO in the future (it amazes me we don't have a high quality, official SAO VR MMO yet, I guess not enough adoption to make it worthwhile)
>>384071701
Get After the Fall. It's gotten pretty good with the more recent patches. It's actually not dead either. It's a good option if you want to be able to hop in for co-op games whenever you want.
>>384056771
It's genuinely good. Even though it doesn't have motion controls it's more immersive to just use a stick for it anyways. It's definitely one of the best singleplayer VR campaigns you can play.

Adding Planck or whatever on top of an existing modlist is easy. I don't see why you need wabbajack if you have the basics set up already.

the modlist I used was basically Lightweight Lazy List but with 10-20 extra mods I liked. Turns out that was abandoned and now it's a wabbajack pack that has a bunch of the same mods but also a bunch of stuff changed or removed. I was wondering how much the changes might've improved things, but I doubt it's worth restarting for
>>384097308
Higgs and Planck are save safe at least as they are SKSE plugins. As long as you aren't adding in Enairim stuff halfway into the game you are good.

I finally got my first clear in Ancient Dungeon. I love how varied the upgrades are by the time you get to the final boss. What bugs me is that from what I can tell the side areas in the free version of the game are no longer in it. I guess that they will be early accessed' back in eventually. Runs take a surprising amount of time too. I hope that there is a way to actually kill the final boss in the current version at least.

>>384118996
Truly VR. While not B&S tier, it is physics based. Your weapons are weighted and properly collide with the environment and the enemies. In the mines you will be shouting "Back fiend!" while fending off surprisingly agile skeletons by keeping them at bay with your sword. You can do fun things like deflecting projectiles and punting enemies into pits too. The knife throwing and crossbow usage couldn't be done in desktop either as they are all motion based.

After playing scavenger mod in ITR for like 10 hours or so I can say I do not like it. It's very difficult to get off the ground and if anything happens during the initial lift off period you're basically stuck and have to reset.
doesn't help that I was playing the beta and the save file got destroyed 3 times due to beta updates, but my most recent try I got killed by unavoidable damage inside an anomaly field. For some reason they added damage that can't be avoided inside gas anomalies and the gas mask actually does nothing against it. And so, all my guns (because I needed to carry them all at once to use the different types of ammo I was finding) and my only gasmask are now stuck inside this anomaly, irretrievable until I find another gas mask and my entire armament is the starting makarov. It's worse than starting fresh because the guaranteed items are now looted too.
the loot balance is godawful; I find so many fucking sawnoffs and pistols I don't give a shit about inside orange crates. I'm dying for ammo and it's like; another sawnoff? Sure! Wait I heard you want a 5th glock. Ammo? haha no.
>>384222037
Oh in addition; loot crates are 95% in areas you need to shoot to get to. So you're spending ammo... to collect ammo. Sometimes less ammo than you spent getting there because you found 2 glocks and a sawnoff and 15 rounds of 9x18.
>>384222328
Oh and anomaly fields and money are completely worthless, deleting half the game.
>>384222037
>It's very difficult to get off the ground
Nigga what? You get free guns everywhere. Ammo for sure you never really have enough but you should know by now you don't need to kill enemies. You can sneak past them. Darkness and crouching makes you nearly invisible. You've also got to remember not to waste your +P and AP on unarmoured enemies. Headshots with 9x18 are extremely effective at clearing out those unwanted low tier enemies and you find that shit everywhere. Buckshot too. Anomaly fields have the gravi artefact for carry weight reduction too so they're good to look through.
I've just finished the train mission in my scav run. Completed it by dropping my weapons at the gate except for my pistol and some injectors. I sprinted in, popping the rift, and sprinting out the other side. Circled around to get my big gun (AK47) and lose aggro, then came back at night to sneak in and complete the ritual. Didn't have to kill many enemies because I lead them away from the train yard with the quick dash. I imagine the castle will be pure pain and suffering though.
>>384228223
Yes you get Guns everywhere, but after the 5th glock you realise you can't shoot it.

I think people with gender dysphoria would be better off living out their "true" selves in VR instead of trying to physically alter their bodies. Physical alterations with modern medical techniques are limited to purely cosmetic features and often do little to properly emulate the desired change.

>highly increased enemy damage
>highly decreased tide interval
Enemies are more rare, but far more dangerous.
To make redundant items have a purpose, I also save only at beds, and if I die I reload my last save, discard everything I was carrying*, and skip forward to the next tide. I convert paper into 10 balls when I use it then discard, and discard one brush when a can runs out.

>>384255203
>I've never seen this happen, seems to save all my per game resolutions without issue.
The global setting, not individual game settings. The definition of "100%" is often changing, one moment it's the native resolution of the quest 2, another it's in the 3000x3000 range for some fucking reason.
>There is. I don't have a cable anymore but I remember being able to set the resolution and turn off auto scaling in the Oculus app.
You didn't finish the sentence. Of course there is a way to turn off the automatic rendering adjustment in the menu, it's right there. What it doesn't let you do is set the rendering quality anywhere near the native res of the panel. It was only letting me set the slider to a minimum of 2467x1980 for some reason, which is still more horizontal resolution that the actual panel resolution.
You would think that a wired connection would be a slam dunk in terms of solving all issues and getting the most out of the headset, but from having previous experience with wired oculus headsets (my 2013 devkit was fine, Rift S was always had usb issues on MULTIPLE different computers) it's anything but. I know people have issues with Index and steamVR as well. The standlone quest 2 experience might have dogshit graphics but at least it's a standalone device with a fixed spec.
>>384256673
>The definition of "100%" is often changing
If you are using VD then VD decides the 100% resolution, the low, medium, high settings change the resolution, there might be some automatic adjustment setting in there, I don't have it on right now.
>It was only letting me set the slider to a minimum of 2467x1980 for some reason
I believe the reason the resolution doesn't match the panel is something to do with the way VR is rendered as a distorted image and then corrected by the lenses, if it was rendered at the same resolution as the panel it wouldn't look right.
can I do 120hz through airlink or still no?
>>384256673
You should be able to set the 1.5x preset at 90hz and it should work fine for airlink. I have a 3080 and that's what I use. For some reason on my network airlink compresses shit too much but VD performs better with 50mbps and the "Ultra" graphic setting. Setting to "native resolution" will look like shit because it's not compensating for barrel distortion and Oculus needs a little extra room in a frame to do their "time travel" shit to reduce latency
Just got my Quest 2 and holy shit that headband is fucking useless, they really made it as bad as possible just to upsell their "elite" headbands didn't they. Guess I'll grab a 3rd party one off amazon asap.

Yeah, avoid the elite strap at this point. The battery is nice, but third parties have mogged them on reliability.

Did anyone even think that it would have VR? There's no point in having VR functionality in normal games anymore unless they are on Quest.

>L4D2 has had a free VR mod
>For almost a month
Holy shit, why aren't more people talking about this? It's definitely got some graphical jank and shows its super early, but it's very playable and even has mostly working motion controls. Shame it's only working in single player for now, because VR L4D2 with buddies sounds rad.
>>384357681
This is the first I've heard of this. Hopefully they get multiplayer working. Also I'm reminded that someone was working on a TF2 VR mod.

After the fall eventually btfo?
Just got my racing wheel setup and I'm looking for a recommendation on a good 'casual driving' game - any kind of game where I can just throw on my headset and cruise around an environment while listening to some podcasts.
I've purchased City Car Driving, although I have found it somewhat lacking in environment variety, it is similar to what I'm looking for in terms of 'casual-ness'.
Any recommendations anons? I can't afford to cruise around IRL with these gas prices, but the therapeutic benefits I get out of driving around with no real purpose are something I can't live without.

Has anyone tried different face cushions with the quest 2, the gap around my nose is kinda distracting.
Does anyone with a Quest 2 know if there is still a method to auto boot an app on startup on v39?
I hate how Pi Launcher won't auto boot anymore because Meta keeps removing android driver features.

The TF2 VR mod, alongside others like TF2 Classic was canned thanks to Valve's lawyers. Our best bet is the TF2 remake in S&box working well in VR.
>>384404170
Is that even allowed to use Valve assets?
>>384362418
American Truck Simulator is probably your best bet. You can drive actual cars too with mods. It has an ingame radio that you can use to play podcasts, internet radio, etc. It's fun discovering new locations and landmarks as you progress through the campaign or not.
>>384404213
S&box's workshop has had tons of assets from Valve games including full ports of Alyx levels for months.

This is compatible for FO4VR but is there any way to make the plugin version back to 0.95?
Well I bought myself a pair ofalmostnew steam valve controllers. I hope they fair better than the vive wands. They are a bit too spastic for me.
>>384404170
Really? What the fuck Valve?
>>384408407
You better hope you have a rare set that doesn't break.
>>384411346
Do all of these VR controllers just break or suck in general?
>>384411512
No. Most of the major controllers are actually decent on build quality and lasting. But the Index Knuckles are infamously dogshit at holding up. The big problem and point of failure for most is the thumbstick and drift. Whatever you do, avoid clicking the thumbsticks as much as you can.
>>384411512
The index controllers just have a flaw with the thumbstick where they wear through after a while. The finger tracking is sometimes just dodgy. Everything else about them is fine though.
>>384411787
What are some good controllers then?
>>384408407
>>384411512
No worries, #1 source of knuckles bullshit is stick drift, and that's just the matter of setting a deadzone really. I had to replace one controller recently due to something other than stick drift, but i'm pretty sure i got some real rare case of malfunction. Enjoy, I think you're guaranteed to like what you got if you used to suffer with Wands until now.
>>384411980
>deadzone
Mine failed four times and went from slightly drifting backwards to completely failing to register any input within days.
>>384411964
The ones that aren't compatible with lighthouses.
>>384411964
Depends on what you mean by "good". If you mean durable, then>>384412192
The Vive Wands are built like tanks, but everything else, like their ergonomics and the touch pad fucking suck.
>>384411787
Incorrect, clicking the thumbstick has absolutely zero effect on thumbstick lifespan. This is a bit of old wive's tale that came from clicking problems on the very first batch and has nothing to do with the core durability problem. I played pavlov a lot with my controllers; right stick got clicked all the time, left click got clicked never. The left one drifted first.
>>384412112my warranty is about to end, so i hope you don't mind if i'll just forget about your post immediately
I had "failure to register any input" too, but it came from touchpad malfunction. When touchpad registers input, thumbstick input is blocked to prevent accidental moves, and so my thumbstick was sometimes just turning itself off in the middle of the game because touchpad thought it was touched while in reality it wasn't. The solution was to press touchpad good and hard, then it was coming back to normal (and then getting stuck again eventually). Wasn't a big deal to be honest, but I RMA'd them anyway.
>>384412396
>Vive Wands are built like tanks,
They aren't. The touchpad breaks after about 2 weeks and the 'fix' is only temporary.
Well I hope the controllers I ordered hold up for a year at least...
>>384411312
Can't have people enjoying TF2 without dealing with lootboxes. Thankfully the guy who was working on the TF2 mod is working on the Deep Rock Galactic mod right now as Ghost Ship is less anal about these things.
>>384412576
>my warranty is about to end, so i hope you don't mind if i'll just forget about your post immediately
Sometimes they'll replace your shit out of warranty, I've been surprised before.
Would you prefer a good vr horror story adventure like Deadspace or a good vr fantasy rpg like a super budget Skyrim. (Assume that it makes use of the vr medium with physics and the like)
>>384417857
I just want blade and sorcery with monsters, levels, and damage numbers
>>384411512
There are no quality controllers in general nowadays in case you haven't been following all the stick drift controversies from like last year. Of course, unless you're willing to pay extra on the enthusiast market, but there's no such thing for VR controllers.
>>384417857
VR fantasy rpg but I'd stuggle to justify making one if I were a developer. The market still feels too small to have 'game but in VR' without some core mechanic that only VR can make use of. Something like physical combat, a heavy loot/crafting focus or a locomotion method that plays best with motion controls. Most other RPG mechanics work just as well on flat so you're probably better off making a flat game and then slapping on a VR mode afterwards.
is there a table tennis game with special moves / magic?
>>384417857
RPG because I like RPGs and don't like horror games.

I've been thinking on making a small vr game based on monster hunting. So basically there's a really tiny open world and you gotta go out there and kill a random monster then return and do it again. The idea is it'd all be very physics based. So you'd have to actually deflect a werewolves claws swipe or duck under it.
I've done a bit of vr work before but haven't messed around with swords or physics so Idk if I'm biting off more than I can chew.
>>384417857
Story-driven games feel like watching a theatre play irl.
I'd honestly much rather have a physics-based dungeon crawler/immersive sim, where you have to prepare for each crawl by stocking up on potions, food, scrolls, etc. And the inventory system could be similar to the one from 'Into the radius'. Make the dungeons full of traps, so the player has to use surrounding props to check if a certain plate is going to trigger a trap.
I just want a game with meaningful and immersive interactions. So far 'Into the radius' is the closest thing to what I'd like a vr game to be.
>>384394096
What's the capacity?
I like how fast the enemies can attack in the B&S beta update. They also don't bounce back when you block so you can almost control their blade if they don't chain random attacks together.
>>384455342
this looks fun. usually at the end of my B&S sessions I'll turn on infinite health and practice parrying. I just wish they would add more weapons to vanilla

Bro I'm so mad I already have a G2. I wonder how much the Deckard is gonna cost though. If VR performance is better I'll just fucking take the L and buy one.
>>384514084
if the rumors from before held any substance, the deckard will come into several "tiers" much like the Steam Deck where you can choose for entry level, mid tier or high end headset
the rumored specs for the high end headset sounded insane so i could see that one costing 2000 easily, entry tier will probably be to compete with the other competitors and mid tier might be index level
>>384514423
I just want something that doesn't get bottlenecked by WMR, doesn't cost a fortune, has non dogshit tracking like the G2, and can be played on an 6900xt or something in demanding simracing games.

Synth Riders would drop to 20 FPS if there were too many notes on screen and I'd get random stutters in every game. Apparently AMD and Nvidia have completely different rendering methods for VR.
>>384514423
What rumors are you referring to? We only have data mining, Gabe's and Coomer's words and speculation. No official sources I know have really hintend at tiers and speculation is not rumors. Is there any actual rumors I missed?
>>384515069
>quest 2 exist
>the world doesn't work like this sadly

>>384521363
>Synth Riders would drop to 20 FPS
imo its because of shitty optimization and awful stages
>>384521895
That anon probably pulled it from his ass, people like to make shit up. I remember some anon spazing out because no-one would believe him when he said that deckard is gonna link up with your steam deck and pc for some sort of distributed computing voltron.
>>384524819
It runs fine on my current card.
>>384525038
But there's literally a Valve patent for that. That anon was saying it just won't be able to play PC games standalone like most people are expecting. I was thinking the Deckard could do both, but Valve not slapping a full Deck on a headset seems plausible. Now the question is if it will work with Windows or will require a Deck/SteamOS.
I've been playing Skyrim in VR and when I load the game up its just a black screen
How do I fix this? I've seen people saying its SkyUI or SKSE but I need both of them for some mods to work. I have the VR version of SkyUI too
>>384526774
Patents don't mean shit. Plenty of things get patented and don't come to market. Look at Valve's wireless solution that was patented over 3 years ago. Post source or you're full of shit.

tl;dr: Use an old version of the oculus app that doesn't require facebook and try to activate the quest 1 with it. It'll say it failed but your quest 2 will be activated. The guy in the video says you need an old oculus account from before facebook was mandatory, but you can actually just make an oculus dev account and it works fine.
>>384540402
so I don't need a facebook account all, even for when I'm booting it up straight out of the box
>>384540994
Yes. I don't have a facebook account and I've been using it for months. The only issue I've had with it is that sometimes it turns off dev mode (only relevant if you're gonna be sideloading shit) and I need to use the app to turn it back on.

do you find it annoying at all q2 cons only track your first two fingers and not the whole hand - that and the compromise of lower res per panel are about my only gripes outside of facebook
>>384544242
It's got one of the better resolutions on the market right now. As for the controllers, I really like them. Admittedly I haven't used the index controllers and I imagine individual finger tracking must feel pretty cool, but the oculus controllers are perfectly fine. And durable, as my wardrobe can attest to. Pro tip if you do get the quest 2, if you're playing something where you'll be swinging your arms around a lot reduce the size of your play area.
