Until You Fall is satisfying to play and it's aesthetically sword fighting. It's very "gamey" sword fighting though, making no attempt to be physically accurate, just patterns that you swing and block to. Feels good at least. I guess kind of like what swords of gargantua did though, if you liked that. It's not super deep mechanically, but with the magic and weapon upgrades, there's still some variety.
Anonymous No.405340342 Replies: >>405341549

there's no variety and I burnt out hard after playing the same levels for 10 hours, different weapons don't help with that

Eh, I still think it's a good game overall, even if it doesn't stretch very far as a roguelike. It really is satisfying for those first few hours, and coming back for a run every so often.

Makes me wonder if at this point anybody has made a skyrim VR mod that does the same gamey "swordfighting" mechanics for VR. I feel like that could work well even inside the confines of todd's game, and then you wouldn't be stuck in the same 3 levels.

I've played almost all of the VR sword combat games and not a single one completely scratches that swordfighting itch. Some are good, I like Blade and Sorcery the most, but when it comes to depth most of them are extremely lacking. Overused generic unity animations, braindead AI that charge straight at you, no game beyond arena fighting and physics that only take into account how hard you hit something seem to be the common pitfalls.

Swordsman VR is comparable to Blade and Sorcery. It has smoother parries/weapon collision with the enemies but both share the issue of attack animations phasing through if you try to control their weapon for too long. Even on the highest difficulty the AI is still slow enough to be easy in my opinion. The campaign is a series of arenas and boss fights.
Legendary Tales tries to bolster itself with rpg mechanics but there's nowhere near enough content for it yet.
Hellsplit Arena has a 'campaign'. It's still just fighting paper mache zombies in an arena.
Until You Fall is very different, more of a rythm game with some movement strategy than swordfighting.
God I wish Swords of Gurrah wasn't dead.
Tales of Glory is Mount and Blade if it were made using Unity assets by one dude. As cool as being part of a big battle is the game is exactly as jank as it sounds.
There's a ton of garbage, asset flip and no content in dev games in this genre. It's stugging to move past the tech demo label.

Only has 18 reviews--I think I'm still the only person on this site who has shilled it. Not very polished, but I think the wide variety of creative mechanics, combined with the tough difficulty, makes it stand out from other games in this genre (first-person third-person: Astro Bot, Moss, etc.) It can be frustratingly hard, cheap at times, though it scratched my itch of wanting that triumphant feeling from beating games like Rayman or Crash Bandicoot.

I recently got a G2 V2 and while the headset itself is great for the price, however the controllers and tracking (at room scale) are shit. I mostly got the headset for sim use as well, but decided to try some VR games (Alyx, Blade & Sorcery) and the cheap ass included controllers completely took me out of the experience, especially since they lose tracking all the damn time. On top of this WMR is also garbage. Playing assetto corsa or DCS with it was great though.

I ended up returning the headset in the end since I do want to play at least some VR games. I've now ordered the index and vive pro 2. I'll try the index first and if the resolution is too low I can use the vive with it's controllers/tracking..

Zenith was a shallow MMO with heavily recycled content barely 3 hours in. The combat felt okay to me for an early VR mmo but there was barely any strategy required for the content at launch. Cooking and gear crafting were almost pointless side activities with little benefit to them prior to endgame. Gliding at least felt good. They've since added dungeons and some new quests. Cosmetics and pets are currently being tested.

I think it has a lot of poor design choices but still had fun playing it with /vrg/gg/. Interest died pretty quickly after launch and the few that were left were spread out at different levels making progressing together difficult.

Miss combat is a result of fighting with no stamina or skill points in the weapon you're using. It's a CRPG more than an adventure RPG like the subsequent games. Everything is a dice roll according to your stats and each action is more or less just telling the DM what action you want to take and them rolling for it. So naturally in vr it's absolutely terrible.

The fire rate isn't directly tied to the frame rate. Your client will fail to send shots and hits to the server if they happen to land on dropped frames. As long as you're getting 100% of your refresh rate, there will be no practical difference in your rate of fire.

I don't know if they fixed it but you can stick your face into any wall and use the "reset position" option in the menu to clip through. Do this by the main gate and you'll teleport on top of the castle wall where you can explore the whole castle and you just jump down when you're done. Its worth it since enemies and items will always spawn there at any point during the game so you're missing out on loot by not going there.

I have one with a 5600x and Quest 2 headset. It gets the job done a bit below the native headset resolution in Airlink 90Hz (so it's blurrier than it should be) but if in retrospect I only cared about VR and had the money I would've gotten a 3080 12GB/3080Ti. It's probably more than enough for older headsets with lower resolution. If I were you I'd wait for either a good price drop on those or for new GPU announcements.

I'd definitely wait a month or 2 if you're looking at a 30xx card. When the 4080 drops prices should come down.

A 30xx is really not necessary for excellent vr. A 2080 ti would do the job just fine and they are going to be under $500 once the 40xx hit saturation. And if you are lucky you could easily get by with a 1080 ti, just no dlss, but probably to be had for $250 or less.

The card you need depends on your headset resolution. Higher resolution HMDs would want at least a 3080

If you want to run Index at 150% resolution (which is what I'm personally comfortable with), a 3060Ti is definitely not going to cut it. I know Quest 2 and Virtual Desktop uses some kind of crutch to render games at higher framerates if you can't do it natively but I've tested both and I really would want to run my games like that if I had a choice. As dumb as it sounds, it's technically running at 90fps but it doesn't "feel" like 90fps.

I think fov, binocular effect in headsets is pretty annoying even if it really is in the corner of your eye, dudes who have used pimax headsets always tout how great the fov improvement is, plus with pancake lenses becoming popular theres even more of a reason since you can really look around instead of keeping your eye near the center

pancake lenses have bigger sweet spots, therefore it makes more sense to have bigger screens and lenses to provide more fov since you can actually look at something in the corner of your eye instead of having to turn your head with higher sweet spots, as opposed to having a bigger screen with edges youre not going to look at

To make money they need people who will use headsets. Even within existing headset owners there's reluctance to actually use it because it is a significant commitment compared to other activities. You have to start things up, wait for them to load, then you can only do VR things while wearing it. You can't even do basic computer tasks without constant annoyances.

£530 AND you have to rebuy all the games.
Sony doesn't understand how badly this is going to fail. It needed to be £350 at most. The Quest 2 mogs it in value since the games 80% of the time are crossbuy, you can use it on PC then, which gives it upscaleability and a universal library thats future proofed in a way.
Sony are literally offering nothing to justify its price.

Got it as part of a bundle somewhere, I think. Don't remember.
If you're on the fence about buying it, it's good up until enemies with armor show up. Enemy armor in the game appears to act like a full body forcefield. A shot that connects has to beat a dice roll to pen based on the ammo type. If the roll does not pass, no damage is done. No weak points, no exposed gaps, no breaking the armor. And this will be on enemies traveling in squads and firing back.

This is what I don't like about the way Windows has gone. It's actively encouraged companies to run shit constantly in the background even if the program isn't actively running. There is absolutely no reason for this other than to collect telemetry and force automatic updates (which is not a good thing). The redditor attitude constantly being pushed for this kind of behavior is

I hate Meta for taking a solid vr system and locking it behind facebook crap. Don't you lose your occulus account if fb banned you?

Seriously, how hard is it to make a vr system that isn't dependent on lighthouse for tracking and is not bound by meta's filthy social media networks?

Its been five years for godsake, lightouse tracking should be a thing of the past. The rift S was the most balanced headset out there before facebook started sticking their dicks in it.

this is a pain but can be somewhat eased by having steam vr to start in its stead.

>Onward
Jesus christ don't remind me. Before it sold out to fuccboik it was already pretty shaky and firmly in the fun with friends category. Then the extra large lobby mod was killed because it wasn't sweaty competitive enough. Then it sold out to quest and the graphics got shat on and functionality of scopes and smokes got destroyed. Then I think there was a split where the more hardcore PC players used the pre-quest beta branch but the already small and cancerous playerbase couldn't really sustain itself. God only knows what the fuck happened after that. I couldn't bear to even launch the game.
I swear that game should have been dead and buried a long time ago. Shit game with shit game modes that attracted the worst kind of sweaty faggots that sold its soul and somehow got even worse. Seeing the population go from average age 30 year olds to under 10s was just astounding. If you ever needed an example of how the quest ruins vr, it's onward.

Anonymous No.406116302

It's pretty simple the headsets are expensive so the user base is very small, it's not worth making a game for most developers outside of tiny indies. The Quest 2 is cheap enough for mass adoption but the PC required to run PCVR is still too expensive so all we are getting now is Quest exclusives until something changes on the PCVR side.

There are multiple factors that make headsets a niche market, which discourages developers from making games, which feeds back as one of the factors against buying headsets. Games aren't going to break the cycle. Even if major developers all released VR games, it wouldn't sell enough headsets to justify their expenditure and it would be sustainable. It will remain as an enthusiast market.

The hardware needs to become cheap and ergonomic enough, with a purpose outside of games, to get it to the point where there's a large enough market to justify making games. I predict it will ultimately be a device with the form factor of glasses that replaces smart phones, but the technology won't be there for years. This development needs to be done at a loss, and it seems to be what Facebook is attempting.

Seems that some of the later third party games have already confirmed ports. There's probably a few more still to come.
Free upgrades so far
>After the Fall
>Pistol Whip
>No Man's Sky
>Zenith
>Swordsman VR*
Implied discounts
>ALVO
>Synth Riders
It's the first party stuff that will unfortunately be left out but those are the games that relied hardest on the old PSVR control methods.

How? PS Moves have 7 buttons and a trigger each, no analog stick, via PSVR2's controllers which have two triggers, two faces buttons, and a stick. There's no "one size fits all" way to map it logically to the new controllers that would make sense on every PSVR1 game.

After a few hours i am already bored with VTOL. I don't get why it gets shilled so much. Campaign is very short. Might be great if you have friends but i don't have friends that play VR at all.
Anyone played Tales of Glory? I am not that impressed with the demo but the campaign could be nice.
I am still waiting for GPU prices to drop so i have more games that i can play but it is not a meme there are so few games that keep you playing for a longer time.

I also bought Synth Riders which is fun and my first rhythm game but i can't play that the whole day.

Skyrim even modded was a huge let down but i even hated flat skyrim so whatever. I can't get morrowind to run in VR.

VRChat is interesting as a first experience but it gets boring fast, people don't talk they just fuck around or look into mirrors.

There is no "campaign" it's basically intro - you're a prince, your king dad is killed - now go and unite the lands. Then you are basically free to do whatever, basically the same as Mount and Blade.

Having big battles which have actually have some "story" sense, even if it's jank elevates the game above Blade and Sorcery so much.

AMD I guess is around 1k, even though that's still to much for what they're offering, but price aside, it's still fucking AMD. AMD is trash. 3000 series I don't think are worth it really and I don't want to buy a used cummed on card. In store prices might not go that low, and even then a 3090 is still not good enough for simracing with the G2.

I guess I'm waiting for 4080 price and benchmarks, and if they're good I'll take the L on the pricing, but I really doubt they will be that good. >Anyone who tells you Valve is coming out with something soon is a delusional retard huffing copium. It's been "coming soon" according to some idiots for an entire fucking year now.
Retard. The only other company that has to cash reserves to go toe-to-toe with Meta is Valve. Meta's storefront and userbase is profitible but Zuck is infamously burning cash with a useless VRchat knockoff that not even normies want and wasting ridiculous amounts of money of R&D. We already know that they have Deckard prototypes and have been making specific improvements to SteamVR that reference deckard features. eMagin literally has a 4k per eye high refresh OLED panel that is literally confirmed as ordered to spec buy a customer (Valve) and named "Steamboat".

They've had their hands tied with Deck and dealing with shortages, but the hardware teams are separate and sharing technology between the two. It takes a lot of effort and collaboration with companies to launch products like this, and they have years of lead up time. Nothing is more annoying than someone responding to the notion of "just wait a reasonable amount of time" with
>"just wait?" lmao bro why don't I just wait for an eternity? IT'S NEVER COMING ;)

I'm still mad that nothing was announced at the VRfest despite hoards of retards claiming Valve would. Valve couldn't even make episode 3 after promising it for a decade, I am sure that given the company's ADHD they are chasing some other trend at this point.

Is the "game" part of H3VR actually worth it or is the game just mostly gun autism in shooting ranges ?
Anonymous No.406419452 Replies: >>406420280
>>406418885
The latter. The actual game parts are underwhelming and very basic. The best game mode is S&D, but it's just going throw the same repeated grey hallways as the bad AI spawns around corners and tries to shoot you.

It's got some 'game like' sections, but the only one of any value is take and hold, which is a room by room take a position, hold a position, gain currency to buy weapons as difficulty increases game. It's okay. It's worth the money for take and hold and plinking autism alone, but the dev suffers from postnatal retardation and will only work on dumb shit that sucks.
Anonymous No.406419647 Replies: >>406420280 >>406424519

Maybe. I think what frustrates people the most is that it is by far the most advanced VR weapons sandbox, but it isn't used for anything outside of the dev's arbitrary experiments. It might change when he finally implements his game planner system which will allow for far more advanced user made content, but it's months over due now and he's working on Christmas content now.

I hate to pick on people on their appearance but he does look like the kind of person that thinks working on dumb shit is better than making an actual game. But well, it's worked for him so far, and maybe he just really wants to add guns and potato launchers instead of gameplay features.
Anonymous No.406424519 Replies: >>406430126

The thing that frustrates me the most about it is how jank the physics are. Reloading a gun is like playing operation where you try carefully not to touch the sides of the mag well. Then grabbing the charging handle or slide is also obscenely delicate because of the tiny grab points. Every time I play it I'm shocked this game was originally made for vive controllers with how terrible the controls are.
>>406422635
The state of the game makes a lot more sense when you realise trying out movie/game guns in vr is the dev's hobby. There won't ever be a proper game in it and the sandbox shooting ranges will always be the focus because that's what he enjoys making. It's even more obvious when you see the cool new features or guns are sandbox modes only and not even present in take and hold.

Please reread my post you aggressive dumbass. I said anyone saying it's coming SOON is an idiot. Valve is absolutely working on something, that is a fact. But it's not coming any time soon. It's almost certainly either going to come late 2023 or early/mid 2024 at the earliest and no amount of hopium and patient diving from Bradly for the past year will change that.

Valve's worth is also a tiny blip compared to Meta's. Or at least it certainly was before the crash, who knows now. Valve does not have 10 billion dollars to piss away in a single year on R&D

I've beaten Boneworks.
I feel like the biggest problem with the game is that its mostly made around physics puzzles where physics is janky.
Is bonelab better in that regard?

Another: you can't load a magazine fed gun without a magazine in ItR. This wasn't even an intentional feature, it just works because it triggers the same event as how the gun loads the gun using the cartridge and barrel objects.

With the devs of Blood & Truth announcing that their next game is some online action game for flat screens and not a VR sequel, I'm losing interest in PSVR2. I hope there are more first-party devs working on titles; if Insomniac isn't making Resistance VR or something that would be crazy

I've looked a bit into wireless capabilities for some headsets. Apparently they start chugging starting 150mb/s of data received because the decoding speed can't keep up with the feed. Does that mean that we can be/are going to be limited on the visual quality in wireless compared to what the computer is actually rendering ? I have a hard time visualizing what a 150mb/s bitrate video looks like.

I played a lot of Radius when it was in 1.x, I got up to the factory where I had to bring back a suitcase by hand. Stopped playing for some months and got back to the game for the latest update. Did some side missions, and the next main mission proposed to me is "Fixing a leak" in the Village. I checked the wiki real quick and this is supposed to be one of the first missions. Is the wiki out of date or did my progress get rolled back ? I still have the security clearance of when I cleared the factory.
Not that I mind going back to unarmored enemies for a few, I'm just curious.
