VTOL VR is a fantastic "sim-light" game that's a step above combat flight games like Project Wingman and Ace Combat but far below the time investment required for something like DCS.

All the controls you need for VTOL come with your headset- it does not use a HOTAS (or even supports one beyond pedals) You use your controllers to grasp a virtual joystick and throttle that are actually surprisingly accurate and controllable. This allows you to take your hands off the controls easily to work the many MFD screens and switches inside the cockpit.

The game features realistic flight physics (minus nonexistent drag for external weapons) and a reasonably simplified and somewhat range-compressed depiction of air to air and air to ground combat. For instance, you don't need to worry about laser coding and all that, just aim your targeting pod and shoot, and most air combat takes place within 20-16 miles.

The game currently features 3 base game aircraft and 1 DLC. The first is the Kestrel, a fat VTOL attack/transport craft that's lumbering, but fun in a ground attack role while also being able to transport troops. The second is the F/A-26, a powerful twin-engine naval fighter capable of carrying a stupid amount of ordnance. The third is the F-45, a stealth aircraft that has a radical customizable large touchscreen display versus the separate gauges of the other aircraft which along with the HUD brings a massive level of situational awareness. Finally, the DLC AH-94 is an attack helicopter able to use it's ground target radar and popup attacks behind terrain to make itself almost invulnerable.

VTOL has both single player and multiplayer missions and campaigns, with multiplayer supporting both PVE, PVP and mixed missions.

VRG VTOL currently plays exclusively coop PVE missions- I think the skill floor is just too low for PVP to be fun and not just frustrating for those being killed. VTOL takes a certain time before situational awareness 'clicks', but when it does it's a lot of fun, and flying the F-45 which is on many missions can help out the newer player as well. I hope some anons buy the Humble and come fly with us!

I've been playing Beat Saber for a few months now on the regular as a means to exercise. But I'm starting to hit a plateau in how demanding it is. I kind of want to increase the difficulty to get a more strenuous workout. I'm sitting at Expert difficulty doing just fine but it takes like an hour+ of play to get really tired anymore. Expert+ is a level of difficulty jump that's ludicrously huge.
It goes from being able to reactively playing songs to needing to rehearse them over and over to get right and it's just not fun or easy.

So I am looking for alternative game suggestions to get an exercise experience from that might be similar to Beat Saber in that it's fun, you listen to great music, and exercise.

Thrill of the fight is very intense. Eleven VR is literally just table tennis so that has an infinitely smooth skill and movement cap based on your physical ability so that's worth considering. Plus table tennis is fun

Nope, your analog stick is used for Sensor of Interest controls. Again, it's a very good virtual joystick, especially if you're able to use an armrest but you can use your leg just fine if you can't. It's not too sensitive, they're haptics for the movement, and you can adjust the position and sensitivity. I have no issues using it and the 16+ people in VRG VTOL don't either.

Yes and yes. It needs a ton of mods to make it a decent VR game, but something like Enderal in VR is one of the best RPGs you can play period. I'd say that it's worth $20.

To make it a semi-alright VR game it needs mods. It is a pretty damn no-frills conversion otherwise with most of the game just being regular Skyrim awkwardly mapped to VR controllers, aside from Bow&Arrow "VR" controls.

Mods add better 3d audio (so you hear shit around you rather than as if you only had a front left/right speaker), body presence, gravity gloves (a QoL), and physical object manipulation with your hand without having to grab a thing.

There's also a mod that makes night actually dark so you have to make use of torches. Is pretty fucking nice imo and changes the feel of the game.

There is an overlap but mostly for east coasters. NAs were even the majority in regular EU Pavlov once, to the point where it caused thread drama. The couple of times I've hosted stuff have all had NAs join too.
Later than usual EU Friday/Saturday is the best time to host in my opinion. EU wagies can safely stay up late and early NAs who usually start being ready to play when EU games are typically ending can join. You'll still have people who prefer to be in VRC drinking at that time but you can't please everyone and I believe the overlap can make up for it.

VTOL is great, just the right balance between arcade and sim in my opinion. The Heli DLC is unfortunately not included.
Dragon Fist can be pretty fun singleplayer VR fighting game and it even has FBT support. Lots of characters and scenarios reference Kung Fu movies if you're into that.
Contractors is a decent VRFPS that occasionally gets /vrg/vrgg/ lobbies and once modding returns will have the best VR Halo experience.
Budget Cuts 2 is a one and done kind of game but it's comfortable for beginners and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Hard Bullet is like the Boneworks sandbox mode but fun. I wouldn't buy it on it's own but it's nice to have in this bundle.

Outside of a few games that don't even support crossbuy, the only advantage of standalone is wireless. If you already stream from PC to your Quest there's not much reason to buy non-exclusives.

I finally got around to trying the Hitman 3 VR mode, with rock bottom expectations I actually had a lot of fun.
It's a damn shame they couldn't make the controls at least a little better because the game letting you be a psychopath in VR works really well. Full roomscale would be ideal but even just having 47 turn when the player does IRL like every other VR game would make it much more playable.

Fucking night & day difference in screen clarity though. Can barely see the screendoor compared to the Vive1.

Is there a clear advantage between Airlink & VD for wireless gaming, or is it one of those case-by-case situations depending on the game? Wireless was the main reason I got this side-grade of a headset, and because the price of that 3rd-party wireless solution for Index made me just want to hold off for Valve Deckard at that point and see if that just has an official solution built-in, given the age of Index at this point.

I've been told the Bobo strap is good but the battery in the version that includes one just seems too small to be usable. actually, now that i think about it, lognlines work very well for phoneposters, the phone wraps around the line at the edge of the screen, you don't even have to think about formatting
oh it also explains why "\n\n"iggers do their thing too, if they are phoneposting like that.
