If image in the headset looks blurry but fine on the monitor, increase your rendering resolution!
If you start to feel sick when playing, stop and have a rest. You'll get your VR legs eventually, just don't push it.
Previous thread: >>406630576 (Cross-thread)
there are no new upcoming VR games to look forward to
>>408013067
It's basically just TWD: Saints & Sinners 2, which is coming out in a couple weeks.
Anything I would look forward to is likely locked to PSVR2. Eg. REmake 4's VR mode. We also had shit like the 'MMO' Zenith launch and then completely died in a month. 2022's been a fucking poor year for PCVR.
>>408013067
there are a few smaller games planned on being released in the next few quarters. But triple A, hyper marketed normieware, nowhere to be seen, and that is a good thing
>>408013067
I will make one!
>>408015539
And what have you made so far?
>>408013067
The real issue is not having any new upcoming VR headsets to improve our experience in the already good existing VR games. Namely simracing ones.
Intel or Ryzen for new VR PC build, or does it not matter much
>>408017591
While you're retarded, the problem is legitimately that the hardware is far too inaccessible and nothing will change until that stops being the case.
>>408019295
If Ryzen, go get 5800X3D
Their regular CPUs are shit for gaming
Intel just always works good, with no need to look up for good RAM timings, so choose whatever will be cheaper for you
>>408019384
cheers
>>408019326
I really just want PSVR2 to be the push to shove that is modern PC/PS5 games bothering to support a VR mode on the side (be it the full game or some side thing) since Sony is making that end of things accessible with games that do more than mobile graphics.
>>408019384
The ram issues with amd have been solved since the 2xxx series, only applied to the first ryzen gen.
>>408019295
Get a processor that is in your budget, bottlenecks are gpus with less then 10GB of good vram
>>408022305
my current build is i5 8600k with 1070TI. think im due for an upgrade
>>408011686 (OP)
Dumb Question: I read that a PC cable "won't work" if you have a sub-par computer. Does that mean you won't be able to upload files to the device using the cable if your computer doesn't meet the recommended specs?
>>408028649
You probably heard some retard meaning you couldnt use PCVR if your computer cant render games. File transferring will work just fine.
>>408023026
You still have a midrange system funnily enough. I feel like pc hardware hasnt moved that much in the lat 5 years.
>>408029750
It hasn't. The hard limit of silicon got hit back then and companies have just been slow releasing upgrades they figured out years ago to nickel and dime consumers.
>>408029017
I see. Thanks for the answer.
>>408019987
What's the news on PSVR2 anyways? Since these consoles use AMD GPUs I'm curious if AMD can finally be good for VR.
>>408017591
Headsets dont matter when there's a 6+ long draught of games. I just want something like touch controllers removable batteries again. Having index controllers that last 7 hours when we have body trackers that can last as long was 18 hours with extended batteries is soul crushing.
>>408047082
We have enough good games although yeah I'd agree we can only benefit from a new rally game or a touring cars game.
>>408011686 (OP)
I heard you can't enter a bunch of worlds in VRchat with the Quest 2. But if I use the quest 2 as pcvr glasses (connected to the pc with a cable instead of as a standalone) then can I access to all the worlds or would I still have restricted worlds for some reason?
>>408050484
You can access all the worlds then
>>408050940
Thanks.
Would you recommend the Quest 2 as a budget pcvr headset or is there any better bang for buck option I don't know about?
I really shouldn't stick my penis in there
...HOWEVER
>>408051184
It's currently the best budget option.
You can snag a discount HP Reverb G2 direct from HP right now for $300 but people say it's best for simulators since the controller tracking isn't quite as good as others but the resoultion is higher.
There's also the Pico headsets that are chinese clones of the quest but I forget the caveats.
Oh and the Q2 also has a black friday special going
>>408051184
>>408051829
Pico 4 is a better headset than quest 2, its lacking in software though. Compression is not quite as good, hand tracking etc. Id still get it over q2 desu, already stuck with g2 though.
>>408030416
means upgrading now into new hardware is pretty much pointless, if you can get great hardware from 3 years ago for a fraction of the msrp
>>408013067
>>408028649
>I read that a PC cable "won't work" if you have a sub-par computer
for oculus CV1 you had to have a computer with "good" or very specific USB chipset on the MB, or a separate card
Got the Quest 2 black friday deal. Didn't download Resi4 yet.
I'll be real, I wanna coom and experience things that will make it feel like VR was worth it. Any recommendations (and corresponding apks)?
I gotta be careful not to put anything that is on the app store lest I get bricked.
Someone redpill me on Lonn cus right now I ain't feeling it despite being shilled elsewhere.
>>408056375
You can pirate apps like re4. for cooming you'll want to hit up the /trash/ thread for questions.
>>408057435
>despite being shilled elsewhere
As always, marketing does way more to break it rather than just making the game
DIdn't played though, but assume it's just boneworks but probably better story
i hate the antichrist!
that's it. saiga-chan is just too abusive, even if price-performance is excellent

>Check out VR Lewd General in /trash/
>VRchat.
>Discord drama.
Not that anon but I'm starting to feel an iota of regret right now.
>>408052170
>Its lacking in software
I suppose for pcvr that is completely irrelevant though, right?
>>408066242
just don't associate with anyone and you'll be okay
>>408067742
Not entirely. Last time I checked compression through wireless VD was better than usb-c cable. Not a picofag, it might have changed already.
>>408064504
Switch to the spas12 and use the ammo cap upgrade. 12 round tube, same stats.
>>408064504
Thems the dangers of using random ammo you find laying around.
>>408059142
He's saying he hasn't downloaded it because it comes free with the headset
>>408056375
Anons are playing Into the radius for a reason. If you want to experience fear, despair and uncertainty, I havent found anything better.if your pc is upper midrange get the pc version
For the degenerate experiences, /vrg/
What are the must-have tools for someone wanting to use a quest 2 in PCVR? Shit like OVR Toolkit, XSO Overlay, things like that.
>>408073334
>Wanting extra shit hogging your resources
Play it raw. Only thing I ever use otherwise is OVR Advanced Settings because SteamVR is retarded when it comes to syncing up playspace position with Oculus at times.
>>408074307
>play it raw except don't
Yeah, thanks, retard. Any more knuckle-dragging wisdom to share?
>>408074852
Run everything Oculus native where able. Shit runs better (not having the overhead of two APIs taking up 500mb of vram each) and more likely supports ASW2.0 native as a result. You don't get it via SteamVR.

Alright, so there's this Pico 4 VR headset, and it's...
>more comfortable to wear than Quest 2
>lighter than Quest 2
>has better lenses
>better hardware
>no facebook/meta bullshit
>no forced account creation
>completely open android system
>same price range
...so why the fuck isn't it more popular than Quest 2?
>>408118272
>no facebook/meta bullshit
>>407103902 (Cross-thread)
>...so why the fuck isn't it more popular than Quest 2?
It's sidegrade to Quest 2, most VR owners either upgraded to Q2 long before, upgraded to Reverb G2(which is better for their needs over Pico too) or gave up on VR at all
all my homies hate triangles
>>408118272
Because daddy meta used their big money to cut deals with all the developers so that the app store is completely empty making it functionally not a standalone headset at all. You also forgot to mention it has eye tracking for dynamic FR, which not even the quest 3 is going to have.
>>408119097
Oh I love this map. Tesla is a bro in time
Also I know exactly which part where you hold a spinning triangle that made you hate it
So good
>>408118272
Beyond all schizo reazons, it's because it's not selling in North America, and I'm guessing they have no marketing in Europe compared to Quest 2. And it's a newborn ecosystem.
>>408113914
Did this ever get pirated, I never found a version with the vr mode that actually worked.
>>408118272
If it came out in April this year, I would have probably gone for it, but why do I need a second headset, when I already have a quest2
>>408119715
We got the triangle super close to the end, but then just barely broke it and had to start again. We were like "Nah this is dumb, skipping it"
>>408023026
>>408029750
I went from a i7 8700k with a 1080 to a 5800x3d and a 3090 pretty recently and got more than double the frames at 200% supersampling in vrchat. That's a pretty good improvement if you ask me.
>>408118272
its literally just a better quest 2, but its not sold in NA and this place/vr is dominated by Americans
>>408118272
came out only like a months ago and yea, >burgers
Please gib cool/fun worlds either for exploring or game-playing
>>408137560
You invested about 2K into system 1, hopefully found a buyer that took it for more then 1K and now bought a new system for about 3K for a 2x increase in coomer simulator. Sorry that sounds like a bad deal and that is assuming you found somebody buying system 1 at a good price
>>408148968

>>408149562
About what exactly. I am playing with the thought of upgrading since the 20xx series and the value to performance increase is just too bad. Looking at the current top hardware of amd, intel and nvidia, I think if I would run a 9xx system, its time to upgrade, with an 10xx series gpu, lets see what the 50xx series brings
*yawns*
I know this thread is not about playing VR vidya games, but i still do
Any good workshop maps? I remember there was some map shilled on PC Gaming Show, was it good in the end?
I played custom maps of early 2021, but missed anything else until now
Finally got around to trying the Zenith update. Quite a few QoL changes and some new content added since I last played. There's cosmetics, a battlepass thing with daily/weekly quests, a new tutorial and pets.
You unlock specific pets by catching them in the world a ton of times; They have a chance to escape the ball but you can reduce that by getting direct hits or throwing from long range. The higher level pets look like they require a long grind.
>>408166162
Here he is, I had to find and catch 15 beetles just to summon him. He is pettable. They can also level up gain and perks depending on what type of pet they are. This one's special power is to... automatically pick up vegetables.
>>408166162
>>408166826
>60 gorrillion dollars for this
>>408166162
>cosmetics, a battlepass thing with daily/weekly quests, a new tutorial and pets
damn, those bitches sold out instantly huh
>>408168240
They always had some backer reward and deluxe edition cosmetics/pets planned. The rest looked to be ingame only and the battlepass had a year duration so I assume it's meant to be closer to a permanent progression system.

I'm not sure what this means contextually.
>>408118272
Because it's a new, chinese piece of electronics with absolutely 0 support or warranty. Last week I was going to buy one from one of their official retailers; I contacted the faggots to ask if I would have any sort of warranty in my country, and they didn't even reply. On top of that, games bought from their store are region locked to China, there is very little info about what games are actually available and there are practically no third-party accessories.
At least with the Quest 2 I could get a two-year warranty covering everything. What would I have done if my Chongculus broke or failed in any way? I'd be fucked.
>>408161682
>I remember there was some map shilled on PC Gaming Show
not out yet afaik, but haven't keept tabs on it.

>>408183490
The fuck? Like you're playing your VR furry porn game and SC6 boots up an Ivy gameplay demo video out of nowhere?
>>408185976
yes, but in the headset you see garbage, like only 1 eye shows some part of the menu, and another eye something else
>>408099252
Get a battery pack that can attach to the back of the Q2. Your cheeks will thank you for it.
>>408187141
I did. I got the bobo M2 strap with battery, link cable, headphones, lens protector (can't order prescription lenses right now) and I'm hoping to get a VRcover Fitness facial cover tonight.
>>408099252
If you haven't played Skyrim, get SkyrimVR and mod the hell out of it, or just install the FUS Wabbajack modpack (or the Tahrovin wabbajack modpack of you're coomer inclined). It's on sale from various outlets atm. You'll still have to babysit wabbajack as it downloads the required mods, but it beats having to do it yourself manually.
There's also a VR Black Friday pack on Humble. Get it for Superhot VR and the other games as a bonus.
Finally broke down and ordered a quest since there's an RE4 bundle.
I have a modem in the living room but want one in my office for VR, can I daisy chain a modem from there in my office or do I have to move my computer closer to the modem?
t. Good with computers, know nothing of networking.
>>408200963
yes
>>408200963
Why not just get a longer cable?
>>408206649
It's a shitty modem from a no-name ISP and they have a very limited number of modems listed as compatible, and again, I know nothing of networking.
>>408207161
How are you planning on utilizing the modem? From what I can tell, there's no need for you to be moving your computer or modem around unless you wanted to do wireless PCVR.
>>408200963
You can plug your headset to the office PC and do cable link without issue.
If you want wireless link you'll have to be close to the modem BUT considering that you say your ISP's modems are shitty, you might not even be able to.
got the reverb in today
linux can read the cameras and IMUs
so that's somethin
I think I need to enable some compile switches

Am I even going to be able to get a "feel" for DCS without buying into HOTAS? Not really against buying a joystick/maybe some other crap, just kind of want to like, want to get in the air and do some basic stuff before dropping money (yes I'm aware it's the most expensive free game etc.)
>>408125158
Yes, you can find everything you need in the gal gun 2 thread on cs rin.
Clean steam files on page 7, and crack on page 8, or you can grab the repack on page 8 if you prefer.
>>408200963
I have an ethernet cable but am running off wifi several rooms away with air link. If I can get away with what I do in Pavlov (been a year by the way, how dead is that game, was like 1-2 TDM/SND servers and the rest TTT last) it can't be hurting latency that much
>>408223395
No, for DCS you need the equipment, but why not play VTOL? Are you really that much into it, imo it's a waste of money.
>>408228286
I am playing VTOL which is how I got interested in DCS as an autism simulator (also with better graphics)
>>408229232
>>408228286
Also what's a waste of money the planes or equipment? I can grab a $30 piece of shit logitech joystick off Amazon and I assume I can mount my racing wheel for 12 easier-to-access-than-keyboard buttons plus use the pedals as rudders/an air brake
bross I'm getting views!
>>408229692
Planes go on sale often, don't buy full price, equipment is a bitch because there's no good stick, I don't know what the fuck to buy myself.

>>408284915
I don't recommend getting it just for the TF2 mod if you don't like multiplayer shooters given it's being built on top of one. They only just added the medic class and their first payload map so it's very much unpolished.
Regardless the TF2 mod population right now is 3 full 10 player lobbies out of 80 total Contractors lobbies.
Star Wars mod is more polished and more popular. There are 7 of those, 3 of which are maxed at 16 players.
I never have trouble finding a 16 player Star Wars lobby to join, even moreso at weekends, but sometimes I've had to host my own TF2 lobby. If those numbers look low it's because there's lots of other loadouts also being played: Halo, revolutionary war, ninjas, CoD weapon ports, Tarkovshit and even Fortnite now.

What would you recommend as a more modern alternative to H3VR's "fuck around with guns" kind of thing?
>>408301882
>Half Life Alyx
good tech demo for index, great atmosphere, bit short
has an insane level of polish, which you will feel when you play other VR games
>Creed: Rise to Glory
pretty fun, but repetitive
prepare a face gasket/mask that is washable
>Into the Radius VR
kino as fuck
>Blade and Sorcery
people like it, I found the combat wanting
pretty hit and miss, you might like it. If not: refund
>OVR Toolkit
I never use VR without
>No Man's Sky
okayish in desktop, absolute kino in VR
Gameplay is kind of... ehh?, is completely saved by the insane atmosphere
>Pavlov OR Contractors? What's better for single player with bots?
both are fun, but not with bots
Note:
There are great games with VR mods that feel like they are made by the devs.
If you like the armosphere from NMS for example, make sure to check out Outer Wilds. The VR mod is insanely well made and makes an already great game even better.
>>408303236
>OVR Toolkit
>I never use VR without
Any other must-have utilities?
wait for nu-male sky psvr patch, they will probably add similar shit to pc
By the way to that one hoe talking shit at me for upgrading from a 5800x to a 5800x3d, it actually did improve my fps in VR.
>>408304203
>upgrading from a 5800x to a 5800x3d

>>408302717
ItR, Pavlov, any game with guns. If you want specifically what h3vr offers, then by all means give it a shot, many enjoy it. I think ItR in particular hits those gun fun feels, you kinda feel more attached to your shity soviet pew pew pellet pusher once you give it a good rub with wd40 and a toothbrush to make it all nice and shiny, and there are also gun mods in game and all.
>>408299364
I am so glad I gave up trying to get anything out of that spot. Fuck zapper anomalies
>>408301882
That's a good list.
>No Man's Sky
Just beware that this thing is a resource hog in VR. My 5600x and 3070 stutters and struggles with it at times.
>Blade and Sorcery / Hellsplit: Arena
Lots of overlap here. If you get both make sure to try them in the refund window.
>Pavlov OR Contractors
Both are similarly bad for singleplayer. Pavlov has abysmal bots but good Nazi Zombies custom maps. Contractors has less awful bots but only in their wave survival mode.
>>408302717
H3VR is the best gun autism sim. It's just that playing with guns in VR has less appeal when most of them games already have guns in them along with more interesting things to do with those guns.
>>408301882
>Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades
mechanically impressive but that's about it. fun to fuck around for an hour or two but there is no gameplay at all.
>Half Life Alyx
babby's first VR game, a solid introduction and worth at least 1 playthrough.
>Into the Radius VR
all around good. it has some level of gun autism where you have to maintain your weapons and mags, even if it's just using spray, a toothbrush, and a cleaning rod. you also have to manually fill your mags with ammo, which i like.
>Blade and Sorcery
a good turn-your-brain-off game. still feels like a tech demo, suffers from the same issue a lot of other VR games have; it feels very one-track at the moment but fun if you're in the mood for it.
>No Man's Sky
really disappointed with this one. the performance is godawful, and nothing I could do improved it much (3080 + ryzen 5800x)
>Pavlov OR Contractors? What's better for single player with bots?
only played Pavlov, the community zombie maps can be fun. most of the fun I have in this game is on custom maps, so I'm worried for the big engine update coming that's going to brick everything.
Have some more opinions:
>SkyrimVR
worth getting. very easy to get set up, despite what your experience modding Skyrim might be. The Wabbajack installer does 95% of the work for you if you're okay installing a modpack someone else made. The FUS pack is a great place to start, since it provides all the essentials for a VR modlist that you can build on.
>ZenithMMO
SAO-inspired VR MMO. Reeks of unity jank, but can be fun with friends. they added a pokemon minigame that I find myself addicted to at the moment.
>Beat Saber
must have, and there is a massive library of community-made songs. this game can be a surprisingly good workout
>>408305863
Is Skyrim VR combat as dogshit as the regular version? Admittedly I played the 360 version back in the day so I never tried mods but it was rough.
Beat Saber comes with every Quest 2, right? I think I'll stick with that version for now and then try the PC version later.
>>408306060
>I played the 360 version back in the day
fuck I just remembered that this game is roughly 10 years old by now
>>408306060
>Is Skyrim VR combat as dogshit as the regular version?
You can alleviate it somewhat. Bows are absolutely broken, especially with the headshot mod. Magic is fun as FUCK, especially with modded spells that make you feel really powerful. For melee, I cranked up the minimum threshold to detect a melee swing so in order to hit anything I need to pretty much swing hard enough that I can hear my controller wooshing through the air. The combat overall isn't balde and sorcery tier, but it's serviceable.
The FUS modlist I mentioned optionally adds a couple combat mods, such as timed blocks and the headshot mod. I found the difficulty pretty enjoyable turning it up to legendary and slightly increasing the headshot damage. Summons and crowd control become important, as does placing your shots well. There's also a mod that lets you throw your weapons and return them like thor's hammer
>>408306060
Overhauled with mods it can be. Storing weapons on your body, two handing the crossbow or casting spells by drawing gestures make it pretty immersive.
>>408304497
Yeah I did it. Got it for 350. Easiest purchase of my entire life.
My valve index made some weird hissing sound for a few minutes(didn't stop when turned off/on), it didn't seem to come from the ear speakers.
It still seems to work perfectly fine for the last hour afterwards.
Should I be worried?
I still dont understand why people get the index when its been known that it was atrocious QC for years, do you just plan on never using it again when its out of warranty?
>>408329069
Could be one of the speakers is loose, Valve seems to overtighten them or something. Worse is the possibility that it could be the first sign of a dying cable.
>>408331421
I held back from getting one as soon as I saw the stick drift roulette. Every time I wonder if I made the right decision I soon hear an Index user complaining about or fumbling around with their grip controls.

What games are good for sniping?
>>408389835
I don't know if any particular vr shooty game is particularly good or bad for sniping. I do okay at it in pavlov ww2 modes. I feel like you need a physical stock for it to be satisfying though.
>>408389835
Radius has aim stabilization when aiming down a scope. Helps a lot when you're not actually holding anything irl. H3VR is good as well, you can set up a target hundreds of meters away and a camera to see where you hit
>>408390805
Do you know if the sniper elite vr game is any good?
>>408390951
never played it, and I can't quite tell if there's aim stabilization or not from the 30 seconds of youtube footage I looked up. If you're really into sniping, you could try looking into a physical stock. I've never used one but for something specific like sniping in a non-competitive environment it sounds like it could be fun.
>>408390951
Its a decent game to play. I had a blast playing through the story with it. Not much replayability. only problem is you have to get these star ranks in the story to unlock the next mission. so you are forced to do some things like getting specific score which is a pain in the ass at times.
>>408391714
iirc there is a virtual stock option.

optimization for ps5 only has to take into account a single hardware configuration. AMD isn't any worse than Nvidia in terms of rasterization performance even in vr its just that they seem to have a lot of shitty driver conflicts especially with oculus on windows. I'm mostly curious about the impact of dynamic foveated rendering since all the previewers have mentioned that they didn't even notice the eye tracking which is good to hear. I also hope there are two "performance" and "resolution" options especially for games like re8 and re4 remake since I'd gladly take a loss on fidelity to play at a native 90hz rather than 60fps spacewarped to 120hz.
Recently got an Index and am going to try Cosmodread and the VR mod for Alien:Isolation.
Anyone have experience with spoops games?
>>408404269
"BANDITS could be here," he thought. "I've never been in this cave before. There could be BANDITS anywhere."
>>408408396
AMD being worse isn't only a driver issue, but a memory speed issue. Now with the XTX supposedly that's fixed, but who knows.

Yeah i know there plenty of reviews but none of them ever says anything besides "it's fun with friends!!". Like that's somehow helpful at all

>>408414808
walkabout is the one you want
>>408414808
If you mean Walkabout, I liked it even being a nofriends NEET but I've always liked minigolf a lot. Just casually putting while watching or listening to something else.
>>408415580

>>408417193
nta but it's a vr game that's the whole point
they get the feel down
>>408417193
Nah, the fun is in perfecting the physical technique as much as it is getting your strategy for the hole right. Flat games skip over the physical part, at best reducing it down to clicking the power meter at the right time. That's good enough for a minigame but not something I'd pay for on it's own.
>>408301882
>Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades
The dev is a tankie but it's the best there is for gun autism. More recent VR shooters have learned the lessons from it (ITR for example has gun detail on almost the same level) but nothing compares to the selection in H3.
>Half Life Alyx
Don't think twice, just play it. It's a new half life game and you can only play it with VR, so do it.
>Into the Radius
I've put almost 100 hours into it. It's the most immersive VR game I've played and the only one that's genuinely scared me, rather than just jumpscare "shocks" you see in other vr horror. It's still an indie game and the limitations show.
>Blade and Sorcery
Extremely fun game, but a few hours and you've "seen it all". Think of it like a sandbox for stress relief. New players should turn off female enemies so they don't get the uncomfortable erection when grappling and restraining women. This isn't a joke.
>I Expect You To Die
Only played the hands-free demo from the DK2 days. It was an escape room comedy. Fun but not much replay value.
>Pavlov vs Contractors
Pavlov is a much better game, but neither are much good as bot experiences. Pavlov has zombies mode which is fun but should be played with friends.

People aren't going to just donate to a person's patreon out of good will for a job well done. She has to offer some kind of incentive, like sneak peeks, exclusives, early access, nsfw versions, etc.
Plus, the avatar market is supersaturated. Unless she can do something no one else can, being a porter isn't all that special, especially in Bonelab where all you need is a mesh and bones.
If you want my advice, focus on levels and NPCs instead. There's a severe lack of quality in those department.
>>408274072
Just played it. The physics are good and there's a lot of neat touches like the animations for pulling the charging handle of weapons being animated for different palm orientations. I also like that it has scopes that magnify the viewport so that you can aim with both eyes open and the magnified view converges, because there are a lot of games that get that wrong.
I'm not sold on the gameplay though. I don't think there's much of a meaningful difference between Vail and Contractors. You have laser beam guns, extremely low TTK, and slow movement. I could see the game becoming extremely campy. I generally really like VR shooters so I had fun in my handful of matches, but I really don't think there's going to be much depth.
>>408418426

Is it normal that during my literally base rank 1 missions i had to fight fucking 10 PM policemans?
Why the fuck there is so many of them, considering they are also fast and have some eagle eye to see me crouching 400m from them
I know i'm being filtered, but still difficulty curve is weird for "normal" difficulty. It will get easier with base rank 2 weapons, right?
>>408418426
Contractors also has a zombie mode as well as some bot co-op stuff.
>>408450596
>10
>sec level 1
Yeah that's not normal. Only time that would happen is if you took a bunch of missions that spawn additional enemies (like the cleanup or find the black box/bracelet side missions) all in the same spot or at least around one of the places where those guys normally are. I'm pretty sure pervomay has less than 10 policemen in the entire map.
>>408451360

there's a spawner on that checkpoint but there shouldn't be more than 4 mimics patrolling around and it shouldn't be respawning more until the player is close

>>408452009
>that firing squad
Wewlad there should only be one up there. The rift up there spawns more enemies but unless you were fucking around in the area for a long time listening to the rare lightning strike as it spawns more and somehow managed to get unlucky that every time it spawned one it was a policeman in the same spot... Babeltech coming in clutch with the review as usual. Unfortunately ACC, the most important game, didn't run on the AMD card, because drivers. I'm starting to wonder if I should try my best and snag an XTX FE. It should be at least as good as the 4080. By the way, were there any black Friday sales on the Index? Does it go on sale ever at all? These benchmarks were done on an Index, and it obviously gets way more FPS than the G2 turd I have. When you get into it a bit harder, netcode issues become more apparent. That being said, it's more of criticism than hate, and I got a feeling that most of pablub haters are also active players who, in the end, enjoy the game despite its flaws.

I haven't played Vail's bomb mode yet. From what I gather, it turns off regenerating health? But I think that even with that, it'd still feel more like CoD (hardcore) than CS, because the recoil is basically a nonfactor.
>>408547981
No eco or any other complicating mechanic make it feel a lot like CoD hardcore to me. Though it does have a pistol round at the start of each half which I don't remember CoD having.

Aside from the aesthetics and the gun physics (which are pretty great), I'm not really sure what sets Vail apart from Contractors.

Because the real answer is that nobody actually knows. There's some circumstantial evidence pointing at the idea that it's going to have an ARM chip and thus probably won't be standalone (because you'd think a standalone Valve headset would be like the Deck and run regular x86 games), but there's been absolutely nothing announced and the headset itself is just speculation.

ovr advanced settings playspace move works in all steamvr games, very easy to set up a static offset or space drag. you can also try changing the game scale in steamvr's "advanced" per-application graphics settings. it essentially tells the game you have a wider/narrower ipd which scales the game up or down.

its best in slot behind basically 1 maybe 2 cpus and nothing in am4 beats it the extra cache on l3 helps a ton with % lows its a game changer it gets meme performance games in some games primarily unity ones (especially vrc) and hits way above its paygrade
>>408653848
Don't be an idiot. Motion sickness has nothing to do with height and it's more from your sense of balance not connecting with your brain aka your body sensing movement but you're not physically moving so the brain freaks out and triggers your body's nausea because it thinks you've been poisoned with toxins or some sort of parasite. If anything, short people would have less motion sickness due to their lower center of gravity
>>408669638
Anon height and balance go hand in hand. So your height may affect indirectly motion sickness via balance.
Shorter boys have shorter centers of gravity, right?

What are the odds Varjo produce a more consumer friendly priced headset? Something around a thousand bucks. Since they know what they're doing and all other headsets are garbage, aside from the Index, but Valve wont release a new one anytime soon.
>>408698657
I guess it depends on how much money the enterprise headset market actually makes. With Valve, there's a clear mandate to make high-end enthusiast hardware for consumers. With Meta, the mandate is mass adoption. But you'll note that the business models for both are really about selling software and not hardware. The smaller headset makers seem like they might just be comfortable in their niche, because they have to make money on their headset.
I think the only hope you have for at-cost high-end hardware is Valve.

It's been in one-man tech demo territory for ages and a safe bet that it'll stay that way. Solo projects like this really need to learn to limit the game's scope so they don't feature creep and bite off more than they can chew.
Why the fuck would you add custom music players, spray painting your guns and other useless shit when you've barely even got enemy AI down? IMO Pavlov scopes are one of the few I find usable. The viewport from the scope is the same as your eyes so the magnified crosshair converges with your regular view, you can just aim with both eyes open and line the crosshair up.
>>408389835
Annoyingly not Sniper Elite because despite being an entire game about sniping, the scopes work terribly since it's a camera view rendered from the gun's point of aim with an ocular shadow mask.

Just finished Alyx: Levitation.
Pretty good. Beautifull maps and set pieces, good pacing, interesting encounters. Good animation, voice acting, which sounds like original Russel and just almost perfect GMAN.
Campaign needs either more health stations in the middle part or I'm retarded and can't find them.
Starting from level 6 there is a bug, AI gets disabled randomly, to fix it you need to run Alyx with params "-console -vconsole" and when that happens you need press "~" and execute this command in console window: "ai_setenabled 1". Fix is already underway, but it seems baking Source 2 maps takes literal days.
Overall very beautifull and solid campaign, Valve hire this man, unironically.
PS. after playing Half Life 2 VR Alyx combat is sluggish and soldiers requiring 7 headshots feels weird...

Large profit margin and their only competion (Knuckles) can't consistently meet demand. HTC has the means and resources to make a Touch style lighthouse controller but they choose not to, either that suggests that they can make more money this way, they're too inflexible to repurpose tech from the other projects or they're simply out of touch.

Kinda confused on how adjusting graphical settings works in general with VR. I use an older HTC Vive (the original from what 2017 was it? whatever it was) and naturally uses steam VR. In steam VR itself it allows me to adjust the resolution per eye and I currently have it set at 200% and it says "2128x2364"
I don't get it. 4K resolution is 3840x2160. Am I running my headset at somewhere between 2k to 4k with that setting? how is that even a thing the headset is old as shit and can't support such resoultuion, hell I could make those numbers way higher with 300, 400, 500% as well. How the hell does this even work?

>>408883358
Decided to go for the "i was only pretending to be retarded" route, huh
>>408883432
yeah i agree, a wand should be 40~60
their design for being a wand controller is really outdated, too, exact same design from the original Vive release
maybe they expect people to start making their own IR sensor wands with their own designs for VR
desu this is probably what needs to happen, just people homebrewing their own wands
a better version of knuckles can also be homebrewed but you would have to justify the expense for accurate finger tracking
and then dealing with constantly recallibrating whatever invention you come up with is another issue

But is there no upper limit to it? like what if I just push it to "12k" right now?
>>408883053
The same way you can tell your GPU to render your desktop at 5x what your monitor is able to display. The GPU will render it then downscale/downsample it to your maximum panel resolution. VR is slightly different because it always renders at a slightly higher resolution than the display to account for some distortion but all you need to know is that 100% in SteamVR already does this.
You go above 100% when you have spare GPU power for reduced jaggies and slighty better image clarity. Some games I barely notice a difference while others become noticably less blurry.
>>408885614
>You go above 100% when you have spare GPU power
how much "spare" are we talking here? my CPU is cutting edge but my GPU is a year old. Does CPU come into play at all for super samplng?
>>408880082
vive wands objectively suck total ass, index is also lighthouse base and utterly destroys them
the vive wands have obscene internal design flaws that make apple's planned obsolescence look genius by comparison, they will completely destroy themselves with only a moderate amount of normal use
>>408885521
I don't think steamvr interface lets you, but hardcoded limit by the driver on nvidia is 32k.
>my CPU is cutting edge but my GPU is a year old.
100% GPU bound. In general CPU doesn't really matter for vr. You could easily run shit like $50 ryzen 3100 and not notice any difference.
Might change in the future, if devs start designing the engines properly.
>>408886437
>In general CPU doesn't really matter for vr.
Tell that to unity jank shit like vr chat. I imagine lot so games still need a competent CPU to not stutter
>>408886437
>>408885718
>>408885614
How much could I get away with with a 3070 GPU? I currently have SS set to 200%. I got shit tons of RAM to compensate for the 8GB VRAM as well
>>408886548
Games stutter because of shit ram in 99% of the cases (or regardless of CPU, e.g. flawed design).
>>408885718
It actually does ever so slightly. Conventional wisdom normally says no but the faster the CPU can prepare a frame the longer the GPU has to deliver it in time for a consistent framerate.
>>408845894
It's trainable for sure.
>>408886008
there are simply a lot of factors to discuss when it comes to optimizing the designs, knuckles are not excluded
you can even track a controller without stations if you have it hardwired to your computer and properly designed it
this discussion goes beyond the simple and typical VR ideas that tend to consist of "i want to play with strangers online" or "i want to shoot gun"
going any further is probably a discussion for /g/
>>408886879
i mean, the fact that their primary input method (the touchpad) will kill itself because of a single rubber pad collapsing under normal use is definitely something that can and should be discussed here, because its a major failing of the design and a good reason to never pay money for a vive wand
the htc headsets are actually completely fine, because valve designed them as a prototype to the index, but I would strongly recommend you run them with index controllers regardless of what you plan on doing
>>408886635
>I currently have SS set to 200%
You think people fucking remember the resolution ancient shit like vive?
Don't use relative numbers.
But anyway, 3070 should be enough for vive. It manages to run much higher res q2 at like 70-80% of native.
>>408887309

I wish Blood Trail was a good game
>>408887016
again, /g/
but you could turn the float input of the touchpad into an integer input with some very simple mods
now this goes into deeper ideas of, why are you using a single digit (thumb) to input multiple variables by way of a circular disk, which is a terrible design to begin with
why are there even grip buttons when a single button could have been put in an easily accessible place for any other digit (index, middle, ring, pinky) to press when 'grip' is needed
and the knuckles do grip even worse, it's a float detection based on grip strength, it is actually one area where the vive wand is superior (but not even really as i have just explained, a single button should have been added somewhere on the wand's skeleton instead)
these designs give us a basic idea of where to start, namely that wands and finger tracking are excellent and will probably be here to stay in VR
but the philosophy behind their design is a really dated idea that people need some janky variation of 'natural' input in order to effectively and enjoyably use VR or whatever the gimmick was
which is not true
homebrewing controllers is probably the future, with individuals ending up designing highly personalized controllers rather than this bizarre standardized mess we have right now
>>408887593
Depends on the game. Check framegraphs.
You might be able to push it a bit higher.
>again, /g/

> float input of the touchpad into an integer input with some very simple mods
it's not float/integer. It's analog and digital. Everything you describing is 100% software, distinction is irrelevant.
>homebrewing controllers is probably the future, with individuals ending up designing highly personalized controllers rather than this bizarre standardized mess we have right now

I really like the gliding but it was added too late into development. The map is filled with gaps that you weren't mean to see from the ground and the developer's attempts to add gliding relevant content just shoehorned random floating islands around. It makes the zones in Zenith give me a feeling that they were modelled and populated by two seperate teams, similar to when a game overuses asset store models.
Hopefully others learn from this and build their VRMMO with traversal and exploration mechanics from the start, ideally with less of a rigid attempt to copy flat theme park MMOs as Zenith did.
>>408939038
would've been worth the price if it had an oled display and/or eye tracking. It begs the question, if a consumer pcvr headset were to release with eye tracking support, will it be implemented in the way of a standard open platform similar to open xr to ensure maximum compatibility with steam vr?

>>408939038
Really considering this for a first headset, maybe unless Deckard is a better deal.
All the cheap standalone headsets feel really dirty, subsidizing by being tied to another ecosystem that's not a standardized android/linux openxr mobile OS, or just because an on-board chip that goes mostly unused feels like a waste and an added expense.
>>408956856
It's extremely overpriced.
fresnel, 4k screen, untested inside out tracking.
manufacturing cost would be around $200 and they dare to charge 550 for it
add pancake + eye tracking and the price would somewhat make sense, would still be expensive though, but charging 550 for what is essentially 3 year old hardware is just too much
>>408954096
Low poly isn't the problem at all here, it's the lack of textures.

There's no official word when it will release besides them wanting the beta before the end of the year.
The common theory is that the update includes PSVR2 crossplay which is still under NDA until the game been approved by Sony, as the game can't even be officially announced for PSVR2 yet.
That's maybe too generous to Dave who probably wants to hold it back so there is a bigger spike of players for the new crossplatform matchmaking system, focusing on getting the paid Quest 2 version ready in the mean time.

How exactly does the custom resolution for SteamVR work, I have it set to 50% (on a Reverb G2) to get a resolution similar to 2160 x 2160. Does this change the second you select it or do you need to reset the game? Should I even bother and just set it to auto?
>>409080643
good
>>409092684
you need to render slightly higher resolution than headsets native. That's because lenses have distortion and to make image look right the center needs to be stretched. If you render exactly at you HMD resolution the center will be blurry, sweetspot according to Valve is rendering 130%-150% more pixels, to have 1:1 pixel representation in the center.
Steam VR has 2 sliders - global one, and per application one. They apply on top of each other. So if your global is at 130% and per game is 50% overall you get 65% supersampling. Neat, you can set resolution depending how GPU hungry your game is.
>>409094021
thanks a lot anon that clarified it for me, but do you have to reset the game or headset in order for it to take affect?
>>409094278
Depends on the game. Some game can change it on the fly, some don't. In worst case you don't need to restart steamVR just the game. Some games even survive refresh rate changes on the fly, but that's for Index.
>>409094021
100% in SteamVR is already ~140% of the native resolution. That's why his native panel resolution was down at 50% and why running 100% on a G2 can be difficult.

I refunded after 20 minutes. I really want more singleplayer VRFPS but this is another with poor design and meaningless content. Some people will probably see potential but I expect it will get a lot of negative reviews.
For me it runs like ass and has some of the worst VRFPS controls I've ever seen. Two handing weapons is like Hitman VR where you just hold your hand in the general area, no gripping at all even to rack the bolt. What were they thinking? Maybe I'm missing something because I also see no artificial turn options. There's no recoil when shooting two-handed, call it a design decision if you want but I think that makes every weapon feel samey. What frustrated me most was the menu system for holstering and switching weapons that felt extremely awkward to use, you can't just ungrip your weapon or throw it over your shoulder. They really should have just copied the HL:Alyx / HL2VR method instead of something that feel straight from 2019.
That last line sums up the game for me, outdated VR design. Features like weapon and character customization are pointless fluff when the core gameplay has such huge issues.

>>409197883
Played through it again recently, loved OC-33
>endless mag
>ammo everywhere
>looks great, easy to use iron sights
>panic = spray, it has 27 bullets mag, been using it even in castle despite relatively low damage
great life-saver in tough situations. also looks bitchin, all square and massive
>>409196969
I have an index
and a quest 2
I'm just a tinker
I tink
got distracted running WMR on a dell micro tower I had purchased earlier
it can run the Reverb at half res screaming along at like 90C it's so funny

Another smg?
>decide to try ChilloutVR
>couple months of being away from any "social" VR game
>join a server
>shitty ass dubstep blasting globally and raping my ears
>go into settings
>turn all volume sliders to 0
>music still on full blast probing my ear canal with cancerous bass
for fuck sake why are all the VR "chat"'s such a waste of time
>>409197357
>pp-2000
fuck yes although i dont use smgs
New VOX weapons released. Shotgunning with the artillery is fun, the reload speed is just fast enough to use like this. Overall the new additions feel surprisingly well balanced, none of them overrode the niches of the existing selection.
Kinda disappointed they didn't even add any new maps though. This game could really use some custom maps.
>>409214296
mp5 + m9 meta?
>>409221840
astonishing beautiful textures for a desert landscape
>>409226290
>mp5 + m9 meta?
Not smart. One +P 9x18 bullet costs the same as a box full of basic ammo, so it is better to use floor loot ammo instead of selling it.
The meta is M9 or MP5 + whatever secondary.

I just want to say that Zenith is the most positive gaming experience I've had in a really long time. I'm relatively new to VR, but the mechanics and gameplay are fantastic. Everyone I've talked to and played with has been super nice and helpful. It has a few bugs, but it's not any worse than other modern games. I'm having lots of fun.
>>409231372
it's a good thing neither of those use 9x18 then
>>409246162
Very funny, retard. However all pistol +P ammo costs the same.
>>409221840
It could use bugs. It needs some mech on bug action to make the mech on mech action feel rewarding
>>409246747
There's a few enemy bugs in the campaign. A co-op horde mode against a wider variety of them would fit well, some of the maps already feel like you're inside an underground nest.
>quest 2 version of Saints and Sinners 2 prioritized over the pc version
Nope. Fuck you Skydance. You've just gone on the shitlist. I'm not being forced to play the grimy n64 version just because you took money from Zuck.
but I like the n64
>>409247284
>where did you learn to fly?
Sold my Q2. Got really tired of dealing with PCVR and all of the current options and drawbacks to do with pushing the link cable and wireless
>couldn't get wireless to work perfecly on vd, airlink, alvr even with best case scenario setup
>link cable worked okay, but pushing it hard has a huge performance overhead that suggests that they never clearly optimized well enough and has a nightmare of conflicting information online to get the "best" settings out of it.
>quest 2 standalone games have the least problems but come with a lot of SSW/re-projection and grimy visuals.
I will jump back in will Valve makes a move. I've had fun with it, but I would vastly prefer a PC only headset at this point if it caused less issues. I think it's more the fact that wireless has too much variability to it and Link doesn't seem perfect either. There's not really much on the horizon apart from shitty quest exclusives anyway.
another brainlet filtered
vr is really not ready for the mainstream yet huh
and all of that right before anon's game release
unlucky
>>409251895
anon that's so sad
standalone is pretty fun
not even worth responding to lmao
>>409252567
>standalone is pretty fun
It is! fun times playing stuff like 15 mins of daily pavlov on standalone because the graphics on that type of game doesn't matter. But with any type of narrative game or something that's longer, I would opt for the PC version considering that I have more than enough hardware to handle it. Once you get past tinkering with wireless solutions, or having to experiment yourself to get the most out of Link without it being shit, then it's not bad considering what the quest is. Then you remember that you're still subject to PC gaming, where shit can go wrong and OS updates or GPU drivers get pushed all the time that cause either stuttering issues or bad performance. And then there's the fact that we're starting to see devs just put more effort into the Quest versions more. Bonelab PC clearly is not optimized well.
So yeah. If Deckard does turn out to be standalone, that's cool. I hope the base experience is higher quality than Q2 of course. If you can tether it to a pc as well, I would prefer separate uncompressed display port and USB for data.
>>409197357
interesting but I'm more of a sniper kind of guy

and yes I get wasted on close range fights

Nigga what, melee is so shitty, it's impossible to call it something like that
>I'm relatively new to VR
Play better games, but beware, it will ruin Zenith for you
>>409197357
Wish I had enough of a >beefy rig to run games at that crisp of a resolution.
>>409231372
Who sells ammo? That is what the sink in the base is for, store brass you dont need yet
>>409275985
I'm pretty sure it's a render in UE4 Editor, you will need not just retina display 1000% resolution, but good lenses too
Basically impossible on current headset hardware
>>409276324
Maybe those with 4090s can get something close to it with recent headsets ? I guess problem is whether or not they want to run games natively or with synthetic frames.
>>409277172
Kinda
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRTgAEm9B6s
Problem is, real display/lenses will give you worse image than recorded. so problem with clarity on headset side, not on pc hardware

retarded gimmick that's pointless for actual video games

I guess I'll skip it for now. It's not worth wasting hours on it trying to understand the OpenXR specification.
